JMRI 2.3.3 on Windows startup issue   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #35065 of 48346 |
If you're having trouble getting JMRI 2.3.3 (or later) to start on
Windows, it might be because you've got some old Java archive files
in your JMRI program directory.

The easiest way to fix this is to un-install JMRI via the Windows
Start menu, and then reinstall that.

If that doesn't work for some reason, the manual approach is:

1) Find your JMRI program directory (often "C:\Program Files\JMRI" or similar)
2) Delete any .jar files (Java archive files) in that directory.
3) Delete the "lib" subdirectory of that directory
4) Reinstall JMRI 2.3.3 by running the JMRI installer again.

The installer includes the following files, each of which the program needs:

ch.ntb.usb.jar
comm.jar
crimson.jar
javacsv.jar
jdom.jar
jhall.jar
jinput.jar
jmri.jar
jython.jar
log4j.jar
MRJAdapter.jar
Serialio.jar
servlet.jar
vecmath.jar

If you have others, please remove them. In particular, the following
files are older versions that might have been installed by very old
JMRI versions, and specifically need to be removed:

jh.all
jh.1.1.2.jar
jdom-jdk11.jar

Sorry for the trouble, but please remember the motto of road
construction everywhere: "Temporary inconvenience, long-lasting
improvement"
