This Nine-Story Building was
Constructed by the Great Saint, Jetsun Milarepa,
Out of Faith and Deep Devotion to his teacher, Marpa.

This Building still stands in Tibet, today.

Jetsun Milarepa (1040-1123)
Tibet's great Yogi and Poet, whose biography and spiritual songs are among the best loved works in Tibetan Buddhism. One of the foremost disciples of Marpa, he is among the Great Masters at the origin of the Kagyupa school.*

Marpa (1012-1097)
Great Tibetan Master and Translator, disciple of Drogmi, Naropa, Maitripa and other great siddhas. He brought many tantras from India to Tibet and translated them. These teachings were passed down through Milarepa and his other disciples, and are the basis of the teachings of the Kagyu lineage.**
