Hello Everyone,

Last night I watched Billy Wilder's incomparable Double Indemnity (1944) for the umpteenth time but for the first time at the cinema. Located in the programme notes in the uncredited role of a Redcap was the name Harold Garrison.I could scarcely believe that he might be the same character who ran the MGM shoeshine stand and chauffeured Paul Bern and Irving Thalberg in 1932. However on looking up his skimpy profile on IMDB this morning I see he had one credited role under the name Harold A Garrison. E.J. Fleming, in his book on Paul, gives Slickum's full name as Harold Allen Garrison. Can anyone confirm that this is one and the same man ?

Regards,

John.

Hi Everyone,

I've been delinquent from the Yahoo group for quite some time, but that's
because Mark Vieira and I got a publisher for a Harlow book in June. We signed
the contract coincidentally on June 7. We have spent the last 5 months putting
the book together and writing it. We delivered the text on Labour Day weekend
... oddly enough. Another auspiciously relevant day in Harlow's story. We are
now working with the publisher and art director on style, design and editing
notes. I'm happy to say its in great shape and I think its going to be pretty
spectacular. Its a pictorial bio with new, fresh text, and about 260 photos,
most which haven't been seen before (well, I hope). Its called "Harlow In
Hollywood: The Blonde Bombshell in the Glamour Capital." I think any Harlow fan
will be very pleased with it.

We have the best publisher and art director we could have ever asked for. They
really respect the project and admire Harlow, so she is being treated with the
utmost care. I will let everyone know about it when the publishing date nears.
There will also a website put up for it.

So thanks everyone for signing the Facebook page, and spread the word!

Best- Darrell

Hi Darrell,

Fantastic news. To maintain the symmetry it would be great to launch the book on March 3rd.

John.
