Kartiki Poonam night is considered as the brightest full moon night in the whole year as the rainy season is supposed to end and the night sky is all clear. This ia a day to resolve to free oneself of base instincts.

Kartiki Poonam will be celebrated at the Jain Center on Saturday, November 15, 2008, as per the the program details below. Please note that the General Body Meeting will have a special significance this year. So please make sure to attend.

There has been an overwhelming response from members to serve the Jain Center by becoming Board of Directors / Executive Commitee members. We have a total of 3 BOD nominations (for 1 open position) and 18 nominations for EC (for 7 open positions). At the General Body meeting, all the nominees will be introduced to the community and they will be given 1-2 minutes to explain why they are  interested in a partcular position and what they plan to do to enhance our temple and community in the future. In the rainy / monsoon seasons, all Acharya Bhagwants, Munis, etc stay at one place and do not travel for four months. This starts from Ashadh Chaturdashi  and ends on Kartik Sud Poonam.  After Kartik Poonam, their Vihar will start and they move around to reveal the truth of religion, Ahinsa, Compassion, etc. As a result, Kartiki Poonam has a big significance for all Jains.
