"What *is* an I-Spy quilt?" you might ask. They're quilts that can be used to play the "I-Spy" game. You know... the game where one person says, "I spy, I spy... something that begins with the letter 'J'. (Or any other letter in the alphabet.) For younger children you can say the actual object and they have to hunt for it. I-Spy quilts can be tiny or large, with fancy blocks or simple blocks. It can even be a crazy quilt. All that matters is that the quilt uses a very wide variety of prints that have identifiable objects on them. Kids' novelty prints are perfect for the job.
As you might imagine, a really good I-Spy quilt requires a large assortment of small pieces of fabric. Many people only start making I-spy quilts after years of quilting and amassing a decent scrap collection.
But what if you don't want to wait?
That's what this group is for. We coordinate fabric swaps on a regular basis so that folks can build their I-Spy fabric stash quickly.
The lovely quilt featured here was made by a member of our group, Joan, who got some of the fabrics from the "Ocean Swap". Great work Joan!
