Yes. in /home/irlp/scripts/id_now (assuming that's where your script is)
just place "de" ahead of $CALLSIGN...
echo de $CALLSIGN | cwpcm -sf -l 6 -p 800 > /dev/dsp

Gerald,
Try using ls (lower case LS) to get a directory listing. Evidently, the
RedHat version has ls aliased to dir.

Gerald,
Not sure why it would be doing that. I believe the embedded nodes use
the slackware linux distribution. If so, the command is definitely ls
(larry sam).
Here is a link to an on-line manual for slackware:

That means set-static-ip is the only file in that directory.
dir is a windows command
The linux command is ls
ls -la will give you more detail.

Guys I unplugged everything last night due to a storm. IRLP was
working at the time of shutting my whole system down. Everything gets
unplugged. This am on a boot the box said updating emi? updated....
then has a name followed by
Boot: flashing curser.
This is as far as it goes. I hope its something simple.
This is one of the reasons I was interested in a back up on a thumb
drive.
Help!
At the boot cursor (which is not normal) what happens if you press
enter? What about pressing TAB twice?
Are you sure you do not have a USB stick plugged into any of the ports?
Even if you had things "backed up" on a thumb drive, you would not have
been able to do anything about this. This is the first time an embedded
node has not booted.

Good Day All,
I would like to know if the embedded IRLP will work with a DSP-404
controller. I have recently moved and unable to set-up my node, and if
I can connect it to this controller my club may buy it. All you help is
greatly appreciated.

The DSP 404 is no different than any controller that has radio ports.
You can interface an IRLP node to any controller that has a duplex radio
port. That being said, there are a lot of other features of a DSP 404,
such as VoIP linking, that are proprietary to Link-comm, and would
require a network of those controllers to work with.
The node will work on the controller, just not with its digital features.

Yes your embedded node should work fine. You will need to build an interface
cable to go from the IRLP node to the Controller. If
you need help with this, I can build you up a cable.

I have seen many sites with scripts for irlp nodes.
Some of these sites say that they are compatable with redhat 9, FC3,
and FC5.
Would any of these scripts be compatable with the embedded node?
I think I saw where it said that the embedded nodes run a version of
slack ware.

NODE 7911
In general, any script based on perl won't work because perl is not
included on embedded nodes. The new play scripts probably will not
work because of the lack of mpg123 and not enough storage for the .mpg
files. Most bash shell scripts should work.
Not having an embedded node to play with, those are my assumptions.
Embedded nodes are very space limited, that is the biggest constraint.

If there are no horses in heaven, then when I die, I want to go where
they went.
Today I was successful at changing memory channels on my Alinco DR-
135 two meter radio connected to my embedded IRLP node.
I did this by connecting the AUX 2 and AUX 3 lines directly to the
microphone pins on the Alinco Radio which correspond to the "memory
UP" and "memory DOWN" buttons on the microphone. Because these two
pins increment or decrement the memory channel by simply by a
momentary short to ground.
Then I created two scripts and put them in the "custom" subdirectory.
For ease of use I named the two scripts u and d for up and down.
Here is the script for pulsing aux3:
"$BIN"/aux3on
sleep 0.2
"$BIN"/aux3off
exit 1
When I log into the node with PuTTY all I have to do is type u and a
carriage return to increment the memory channel on the radio one
step. With only two keystrokes needed its not too difficult to go up
ten memory channels quickly.
I do have one small problem. The sleep command I was using does not
seem to be able to recognize anything but integer seconds and that
causes the pulse to be much too long.
To work around the problem I put a hundred echo commands in the
script between aux3on and aux3off instead of the sleep command and
that is working for now but its not really the right way to write
software.
Is there a command to tell linux to sleep for only a tenth of a
second?
use usleep (if it is available on embedded nodes)
sleeps in microsecond increments
usleep 200000
will sleep .2 seconds.

There is a new release of code for testing. I want to roll this into
main stream use as quickly as possible.
The imike/ispeaker binaries supplied should fix the following issues:
1) Supports GSM, ADPCM, and UNCOMPRESSED codecs in half and full
duplex (also has CELP codec, but not used widely)
2) Supports and implements a small jitter buffer (which gets rid of
some clicking noises on nodes with CTCSS or hum) This also makes for
cleaner audio all around, all with the expense of about 100
milliseconds delay.
3) Implements the control packets STATIONID tag, for collection of
data about nodes connected to a reflector.
The new scripts fix some bugs, including:
1) Adds a maximum 2 second wait for the node to download the
stnxxxxon.wav ID file (if it exists) from the servers if there is a
new file or update to the file.
2) Adds the ability for embedded nodes to run custom ID files without
worrying about filling the drive by removing files after use. (You
can safely set PLAY_CUSTOM_IDS to YES in the environment files)
I have decided to mothball the "streaming ID" project due to too many
variables and opposition from custom systems. There is very little
change to the ID system besides the delay and some code cleanup.
To implement and take part in the beta, please implement the beta
files on your node by performing the following steps after logging in
as root (or repeater):
su - repeater
rsync -Waz irlp.net::beta /home/irlp/
The uncompressed codec is activated by setting the DEFAULTCODEC in
your environment file to UNCOMP or UNCOMP_FD (for full duplex).
Some reflectors for testing the uncompressed codec include:
9004 - Main test platform
9200
9739
9755
Trying to connect to these systems without applying the update may
result in unpredictable results! Worst case will be hearing scrambled
audio or dead keyups.
Also point to point nodes need to be tested for compliance of the
full duplex codecs. If you have two full duplex capable nodes, any
playing you can do would be great. I will be able to monitor 1010
(full duplex embedded node, set to UNCOMP_FD) and 1000 (non-embedded,
set to UNCOMP_FD) after 5pm Pacific.
NOTE: Your node will return to the normal files overnight during the
update, or you can force it by typing:
su - repeater
./scripts/update files
The binaries are very similar to the last set that was tested heavily
over the past few months, so this BETA cycle will be fairly short, so
that everyone can enjoy the new features.
Please report any bugs/problems to dcameron@.... Please feel
free to use the yahoo group to discuss tests and to organize tests.

This should be simple but I looked through the messages and couldn't
find it. I want to write a small script to incorporate into the voice
ID file that will stop it playing when the node is connected. It would
be an If, then else command using the connect status as a flag. I
remember that there used to be a file on the non-embedded nodes - I
think it was called 'connect' which went positive when the node was
connected. Anybody able to help?
I am considering an embedded irlp unit for the radio club to add
to their repeater. I have several questions.
1. can it use the same network connection as DSTAR. They do not share
any ports. We are using a router already for DSTAR gateway.
2. Does the unit come with AC as the standard power source. The photos
do show a standard AC input plug on the the unit.
Darhal Wolf, K9DRF a previous irlp owner several years back in
Peoria, IL.
Yes it can share the same connection as the DSTAR gateway.
Also, you can choose any option you want for power. By default, it comes
with a AC adapter that supplies 12.0V to the board. You can not feed
this with a standard 13.8V supply, as it will not work and trip out.
There is a $60 "DC option" that you add on to the unit that will allow
it to operate on 6-32VDC. This is most often used at repeater sites
where a DC supply is used. Either way I supply the AC-DC adapter.

Funny enough I will be in Fort McMurray tomorrow :) Drop me an email and
maybe I can swing by and give you the ultimate in mobile support.
Tell us about how you are connecting your system to the internet. Do you
go from a DSL modem to a router to the node? Are you using a hub or
switch anywhere in the system?
Don is right though. If the IP of your node is not static, there is a
chance that the node is not getting the right ports forwarded.
Does the node dial out but not get any audio back in?
Check the IP of the node by typing
ifconfig eth0
The internal IP is listed as inet or something similar.
Then make sure your router is forwarding the IRLP ports to that IP.
