Description
This group will hopefully become a 'clearing house' for all sorts of information relating to any and all of the old Irish Three Foot Gauge Railways. Primarily aimed at modellers the group also welcomes non-modelling enthusiasts. There is absolutely no restriction relating to modelling scale or preferred prototype. Whether your interest lies in the West Clare in 1:20.3, the Tralee and Dingle in 1/4" scale, the Swilly in Nn3, or simply the Irish narrow gauge in general, this is the place. Locomotives, rolling stock, signalling, buildings, right-of-way, timetables, whatever - all are fair game for discussion!
Whilst my own personal favourite is the Tralee and Dingle I find that I am absolutely fascinated by all of the 3' lines. However I constantly find that in the exercise of that fascination (building models) I am frustrated by the lack of accurate information. But there is an awful lot of information out there – as can be seen by following some of the discussion posted in the couple of railway or scale specific groups that do exist. Hopefully this forum, unrestricted by scale or company, will provide a venue for enthusiasts reluctant to join a more specifically targeted group.
Those special interest groups that already exist do a terrific job and in starting this group I hope to complement the work they are doing and neither compete with nor detract from their role.
If you are new to the group, in order that we can welcome you properly please feel free to post a quick 'Hello'!
