I encourage people to familiarize themselves with the National
Rural Electric Cooperative Association’s position on Waxman-Markey (the
House cap and trade bill), in the effort of educating and working with local
coops on this issue.
A letter from last week from its CEO is attached, stating that the
NRECA will not stand in the way of the bill’s passage.
Here’s a link to the latest statement, in response to the
passage of the bill:

Subject: [irenew] A balanced solution to climate change?
I just saw this ad on
TV:
http://www.findabettersolution.com/climatechange/
Basically it is our Iowa electric cooperatives telling us that Cap & Trade
will put many on unemployment. They oppose Cap & Trade without proposing
any other solution. I encourage you to contact our electric cooperatives and
ask then to show us an alternative plan. It is easy to oppose change. It is not
so easy to deal with climate change.
