The Internet
Psychology Lab (IPL) is a multimedia, interactive system for laboratory instruction in psychology. The IPL project provides lessons, demonstrations, and experiments that are available to students using remote Internet clients. These clients may be personal computers in students' homes or dormitories, public access terminals and workstations at campus computing sites, or computers in instructional laboratories. The client computer will use interactive software such as SunM icrosystems’ Java™ to execute instructions downloaded from the IPL server. This method will ensure precise timing of display, sound device, pointing device, and keyboard operations.
The long term goal of the IPL project is to provide a dynamic, up-to-date medium and database that will become a regular part of the instructional resources for psychology and human-computer interaction available on the World Wide Web.
