Involved Evergreen is the Neighborhood group formed to help locate a new grocery store and provide support to the other businesses at Evergreen Village Square in San José, California.

Involved Evergreen Mission Statement

The Mission of Involved Evergreen is to:

• Support Evergreen Village Square as the center of our local Evergreen neighborhood,
• maintain the vitality of the existing businesses at the Square,
• support the long-term vision for completion of development of the Square as a visually beautiful gathering-place or “downtown” within walking distance or a short drive for most of our neighborhood,
• and promote the Square as a perfect location to celebrate and share the wonderful cultural and ethnic diversity of our neighborhood community.

Involved Evergreen’s important short and long-term goals include:

• Providing neighborhood feedback and support for the location of a new anchor tenant at the Square (replacing the Lunardi’s Grocery which closed in September 2007).
• Preventing the loss of further small-businesses at the Square (and the resulting economic blight).
• Promoting neighborhood cultural and entertainment events centered around the Square.
• Maintaining the feeling of a smaller community, or “village”, that having a gathering place such as the Square gives to the residents of our neighborhood.
• Providing support to other non-profit groups in using the Square as a neighborhood center for our community.
• Helping to develop our Square into an attractive destination for residents of other communities.
