Dear John,

Time is running out for Iran to avoid sanctions over its nuclear
program, Reuters News Agency quoted White House spokesman Robert Gibbs
as saying. He added that Tehran's deadline is still the end of the year
for responding to international demands.

Iran has ignored a deal offered by the Western powers that would have
Iran sending its low-enriched uranium abroad for processing into uranium
for making fuel. Gibbs said it was "pretty clear" that the Iranians were
backing out of that agreement. The White House comments came a day after
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad declared that his country will
enrich uranium at a much higher level--a fresh rejection of an
international plan to curb Tehran's nuclear program.

We are approaching a crisis point in dealing with Iran. I urgently ask
you to join with me in prayer that this great evil will be halted and
that Israel will be spared the incredible human and financial cost of
having to go to war to stop it.

How sad it is that these rumblings of war come at what should be a time
of peace! For many in Israel, especially the children, peace is only a
distant dream.

I will never forget as a poor Jewish child in America what it was like
to scavenge for food in dumpsters and never having enough to eat. This
is the daily reality of life in Ashkelon for hundreds of children. They
go to bed hungry many nights. They shiver in the winter because their
parents cannot afford to heat their homes. They have no expectation of
receiving presents this year for Chanukah. What should be a happy and
joyous time is instead just another day to do without.

I will also never forget when my aunt took me to my first Chanukah
party. I thought I had died and gone to Heaven! Seeing the gifts and all
the food was a wonderful treat. And we can provide that same experience
to the poor children of Ashkelon. The Jerusalem Prayer Team is helping a
very special family host a Chanukah party just for these needy children.

On my last trip to Israel I met again with the Cohen family...a family
that has suffered so much at the hands of radical Islamic
terrorists...and yet who nevertheless live with joy instead of
bitterness and are focused on helping others. Let me share their story
with you. The children were blown up on their school bus.

Tehilla Cohen lost both her legs when her school bus was destroyed by a
suicide bomber near her family's home in Israel. The devastating attack
stole so much away from this precious young lady...and yet her spirit
never wavered. When I heard this young lady's story, I knew we had to
help.

So the Jerusalem Prayer Team furnished her with a special motorized
wheelchair which allowed her to regain much of her independence of
motion. After many surgeries and extensive physical therapy, she was
able to return to school, and now has graduated and is preparing for
college.

When I met with Tehilla, she asked me to thank the members of the
Jerusalem Prayer Team who have helped her so much. And she asked for our
help again--not for herself, but for the poor children who live in her
community who are facing the upcoming Chanukah holiday without the hope
of the presents that most children are expecting.

ORANGE PARK, Fla. – Authorities believe a body found under trash in
a landfill is that of 7-year-old Somer Thompson, a north Florida girl
who vanished on her walk home from school, the sheriff in charge of the
case said Thursday.

Clay County Sheriff Rick Beseler said the tentative identification was
based on clothing and on a birthmark that matched the girl's. An autopsy
was being performed Thursday by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation in
Savannah after the body was found near the Florida state line.

Detectives spotted the legs first and found the body partially covered
by garbage Wednesday in a Georgia landfill, after investigators followed
garbage trucks leaving the neighborhood where the child disappeared
Monday....

..."I don't think they deserve to live," Holt said. "I don't think
there's anything worse that a person can do — to kill a child and
dump her in the dump like a piece of trash?"...

Beseler wouldn't talk about what evidence police have recovered, or
whether investigators believe the crime was committed by one or more
people. He said police have questioned more than 70 registered sex
offenders in the area, and that process was continuing. Florida
Department of Law Enforcement records show 161 offenders live in a
5-mile radius of Somer's home.

.... Somer vanished on her mile-long walk home from school in Orange
Park. She was squabbling with another child, and her sister told her to
stop. The girl got upset, walked ahead of the group and wasn't seen
again.

We need to be in prayer for Somer, her family and friends. Especially
for her sister and the other child she was squabbling with. Kids tend to
take things very personally. The other child and Somer's sister need our
prayers that they know they are not blame for what happened to this dear
child.

My area (of Northern California) has only had a few scattered cases of the H1N1
flu thus far but I understand it is now beginning to spread  rapidly, especially
in Texas (where an internet friend was just diagnosed and is currently at home
ill) as well as in other countries.

I'm sure we are all praying for those infected and praying that the spread of
this "unique" virus will be halted. I'd like to invite everyone to join with me
in prayer about this.

Holy One, we ask that You would heal all those who have been infected by this
H1N1 virus as well as the seasonal flu. Please stop this virus from spreading
and protect Your people always.

As of now the fires in this area appear to be contained in the Plumas National
Forest area, about 10 miles away. We're in no danger as of now although the air
still smells strongly of smoke. Usually in these conditions its a lot stronger
at night (as it was last night). There are 15 big fire in California right now I
understand. Three within an hour of us. Not nearly as bad as last year.

Its supposed to jump back into the 100 + degree mark tomorrow which doesn't bode
well for the fires or the fire fighters.

Please keep everyone in your prayers especially the brave fire fighters. These
folks are awesome! There is always so much to pray for!

Hi all,
About 10:30 tonight (its 12:30 now) we smelled smoke and went outside. The air
is heavier with it now than then. I drove around the area looking for fire but
only found more smoke.

We called the fire department. They say there is a fire near Plumas and
apparently another near Yuba City and we're getting their smoke (these are well
north of the fires that have been burning in the Santa Cruz Mountains for a few
days now). Both areas are too far away for the smoke to be this heavy here it
seems to us. A few neighbors appear to be patrolling too now looking for the
cause. Not sure what's going on but after the big fire last year we're all a bit
concerned.

Prayers would be appreciated for all those being effected.

You can sell tickets to it ...

"You can sell tickets to it ...," is a phrase used to assure someone
that a certain thing is going to happen or will get done. Here's a bit
of trivia for you as to where the phrase came from.

The early days prophet Jonah was told by God to prophesy that
the great city of Nineveh would be overthrown in 40 days. So,
after Jonah prophesied to the king of Nineveh, the king ordered all
of his people to give up their sins. Jonah had gone to the "outside"
of the city, set up a booth, and so-to-speak, began selling tickets to
the event of Nineveh being destroyed.

Jonah's prophecy of destruction in forty days never came to pass
as the people of Nineveh had repented. However, a few years
later, Nineveh once again turned from God, and it was then totally
destroyed. The story that Jonah actually sold tickets to the event
had never actually taken place. This part of Jonah's prophecy was
simply fabricated by modern day preachers so as to make the
Book of Jonah more interesting.

Modern preachers created the false teaching that, "If a person even
appears to make a mistake in their prophecies, they are a false
prophet," to discredit modern day prophets, so as to allow
preachers to escape God's scrutiny. The Book of Jonah however
proves that God does not always do as He tells His prophets to
prophesy. This fact makes it quite clear that modern day
preachers, knowing full well that is the case, simply fabricated the
false teaching that "prophets can never be wrong, otherwise they
are false prophets."

Whereas, God's purpose for having prophets has always been to
teach, or to otherwise correct the church. That is, to edify it, as an
editor corrects the copy in his newspaper. So, with today's "God
loves you, He will never do you harm, in fact, He wants you to be
rich" teachings in churches; pastors, preachers and teachers really
can't AFFORD to have their congregations listening to prophets,
for fear of being exposed for their own church's teaching of lies
and false doctrines.

Moreover, the fact that you hear a prophecy, then it doesn't come
to pass "on time," does NOT mean it won't come to pass... In fact,
that usually means nothing more than that your nation and its
people have been both warned, and advised, to get their act
together, and to KEEP it together, or suffer the consequences.

getting a biopsy on it this week.

hi



out of hospital and back home now. able to use wheelchair and walk with
4-wheeled walker in hiuse, still seeing double and bad tinnitus but can hear
better now and getting some feeling on left side of body-- enough to know pain
and cold and heat but not where hand and foot are and still careful not to chew
tongue. really feels srange and everything is very slow going but blessed to be
al8ive and able to come home and not a nursing home

Candlemas is the Christianized name for the holiday, of course. The
older Pagan names were Imbolc and Oimelc. 'Imbolc' means, literally, 'in
the belly' (of the Mother). For in the womb of Mother Earth, hidden from
our mundane sight but sensed by a keener vision, there are stirrings.
The seed that was planted in her womb at the solstice is quickening and
the new year grows.
At the time of Candlemas, the newborn Sun God is seen as a small child
nursing from his Mother.

The holiday is also called 'Brigit's Day', in honor of the great Irish
Goddess Brigit. She was considered a goddess of fire, patroness of
smithcraft, poetry and healing. The Roman Catholic Church could not very
easily call the Great Goddess of Ireland a demon, so they canonized her
instead. Henceforth, she would be 'Saint' Brigit, patron SAINT of
smithcraft, poetry, and healing. They 'explained' this by telling the
Irish peasants that Brigit was 'really' an early Christian missionary
sent to the Emerald Isle.

Today, this holiday is chiefly connected to weather lore. Even our
American folk-calendar keeps the tradition of 'Groundhog's Day', a day
to predict the coming weather, telling us that if the Groundhog sees his
shadow, there will be 'six more weeks' of bad weather. This custom is
ancient. An old British rhyme tells us that 'If Candlemas Day be bright
and clear, there'll be two winters in the year.'

Actually, all of the cross-quarter days can be used as 'inverse' weather
predictors, whereas the quarter-days are used as 'direct' weather
predictors. Imbolic involves celebrations of banishing the winter and
welcoming the spring. At this phase of the cycle, winter is swept away
and new beginnings are nurtured. Some Wiccan groups favor this time of
year for initiations into the Craft.
It is traditional at Candlemas to light every lamp in the house for a
few minutes in honor of the Sun's rebirth.

At Imbolc the spark of light born at Yule becomes a flame to warm people
and the land. Now we see the first signs of spring. The trees are in bud
and some flowers (snowdrops for example) begin to blossom. The word
'Imbolc' means 'in the belly', whilst 'Oimelc' means 'ewe's milk'. Both
refer to the fact that many ewes are pregnant at this time and in a mild
year the first lambs will be born about now. Imbolc is the quickening of
the year, the time when the Earth is made pregnant with the promise of
summer fruitfulness and the harvest to come.

At Imbolc the Goddess casts aside the robes of Wise One and returns as
Maiden, dressed in white. In some groups a Maiden will be chosen and
will wear a crown of lights and a white robe or cloak for the ritual. It
is worth noting that up until relatively recently, the term 'maiden' was
used to denote a female who had not yet given birth to child, so that
even an obviously pregnant married woman could be a maiden and take this
role in ritual. The God, who was reborn at Yule, is now seen as a young
man, full of vigour, and his pursuit of the Maiden starts at this
sabbath.

Imbolc is the time when the last of Yule's festive evergreens are
removed. In some places it is still traditional to hold on to the
(undecorated) Christmas fir until Imbolc, when it is taken and burned on
the Imbolc fires. These days few of us can afford to keep the tree in
place, especially as our modern forced and treated trees find it hard to
keep their needles until January, let alone a whole month later.
However, there is a practical alternative. As part of your Imbolc
celebrations, take all the Yule and Christmas cards you have been given
and recycle them, either making them into gift tags for the following
year or cutting out the pictures to give to a local playgroup.

In ancient Rome this was a festival of Pan and the priests of Pan,
called the Luperci, would run through the streets dressed in goatskin
cloth whipping the people, especially women, to make them fertile for
the coming year.

In many parts of the British Isles you will find wells dedicated to
Bride or to the Christian St Bridget. Originally these would have been
associated with the Goddess. If you are lucky enough to live near one of
these, or able to visit one, look for a nearby tree with scraps of
fabric tied to its branches. This will be a 'wishing tree'. Many people,
whether Witches, Pagans or otherwise, visit these places to make an
offering to the Goddess in the hope of having a wish granted. Such
offerings are usually a strip of cloth, but it is not unusual to see
necklaces of plaited grasses, small posies of flowers and even a child's
shoe tied to a wishing tree. If you do visit such a site and wish to
leave an offering, try to make it something which will soon return to
the earth - a small circlet of grass plaited whilst thinking about your
wish, or a hair from your own head, offered as a form of sacrifice. Look
in your local press for notices of well-dressing celebrations, as many
of these still take place at this time of year.


AN IMBOLC RITUAL


This festival is the first rite of spring. The dark of winter is behind
us and now the Goddess takes on the robes of the Maiden and the God is
seen as a young man.

Find some time and a place where you will be undisturbed. Take a black
or dark red candle to represent the Goddess as Wise One and a white one
to represent her as Maiden. As with all your rituals, call upon the
elements of Air, Fire, Water and Earth as well as the Goddess and the
God to be with you.

Light the dark candle and say, 'This light is the light of the Crone,
the Wise One who has ruled over the winter months, the resting time'.
Spend a few moments thinking of all that has passed since your
celebration of Samhain, especially of what you have learned in this
time.

Next say, 'Now it is time for the Crone to turn away and become once
more the Maiden, Lady of Spring and of promise'. Light the white candle
and extinguish the dark one.

Now spend a little time thinking about what you would like to begin in
this new season.

Thank the elements and the Goddess and the God for their presence during
your rites.

An alternative to this ritual would be to take some ice, a large piece
if possible, and, taking it in your strong hand (your right if right
handed, your left if left handed), hold it over a bowl and say, 'This
represents the Crone, Lady of Winter, of the time when the land is still
and resting. But as winter's thaw begins, so the Lady casts off her
robes of stillness and becomes once more the Maiden. Full of movement,
like the cool waters of spring, she flows once more to bring life and
hope to all the land'.

Once the ice has fully melted, keep the resulting water to put on your
favourite plant, either indoors or in the garden. Please wait until the
water has reached a reasonable temperature before you do this, otherwise
you will freeze the poor thing's roots!

Once again, this ritual should begin by asking the support of the
elements, the Goddess and the God, and they should be thanked at the
end.


OTHER WAYS OF MAKING IMBOLC


* As this is a time of new life and growth, it is appropriate to plant
bulbs or flowers or to sow seeds. However, you will need to use your
judgement and some local knowledge to decide whether to actually do so
at Imbolc or whether to wait a week (or several) until the last frosts
have passed. Of course seeds can often be started indoors and planted
out a month or so later.

A word of caution here - if you are unlucky and your seedlings or plants
fail, try not to read anything 'significant' into this. Unless and until
you are an experienced and seasoned gardener, or unless you naturally
have 'green fingers' you are quite likely to have a less than impressive
success rate the first few times.

If you don't have access to a garden, you can always choose an indoor
plant to nurture. Many of the herbs that Witches use in their Magic, as
well as their kitchen, will grow quite happily on a window sill.
Rosemary and lavender are perhaps the two most useful, as well as having
a pleasant scent all year round.

* If you are lucky enough to live near a suitable tree, choose one to be
'your own'. This is the tree that you will watch to mark the seasons.
Observe its cycles of growth and fruitfulness, the way it reacts to the
seasons. By doing this you will have a natural link to the Wheel of the
Year. It is better to choose a tree which does shed its leaves in winter
rather than an evergreen, as the cycles of the latter can be very
difficult to see. There are many trees which have particular
significance to Witches; oak, ash, hawthorn, elder, willow, rowan and
many others. If your tree is in your own garden or in an accessible
place, then you will be able to visit it and even meditate under it
whenever you please. You may even find that this is the tree which gives
you the wood for your wand.

Has anyone else noticed that things have not been
the same since the terrorist attack on September 11,
2001?  - - we've experienced catastrophic disasters
from floods, tornadoes, hurricanes and fires from
drought, etc. on a scale never known before in all of
history.  Not only that, but the greed and corruption
that has been brought to light recently makes me and
most others wonder what's become of this nation and
where is it heading.

I would not believe anything of this sort could or
would happen if it wasn't written out so clearly about
what's to come, but the evidence is undeniable.
