We're working to implement Instant Runoff Voting (IRV) in California. IRV is a voting method that reduces the 'spoiler' or 'split vote' effect, helps ensure that your vote is decisive, and guarantees a majority winner in one election. IRV works by having voters rank the candidates they support in order of preference. Your vote always goes to your highest-ranked eligible candidate. Candidates are eliminated one at a time until there is a majority winner. Join us, and help make democracy in California more fair, accurate, and efficient!
Please post only about IRV action in California. See the CfER website if you have basic questions about IRV. Our monthly-to-quarterly newsletter is sent to both this group and to InstantRunoffCA-News.
(If you only want the newsletter, join that group instead of this one;
you don't need to join both.)
NOTE: If you are new, please include a brief note in your subscription request that will convince us that you are a real person with a sincere interest in (but not necessarily committed to) this effort, and not a spammer or other troublemaker. If you are the former, we hope to hear from you.
