A beautiful Madam was having trouble with one of her students in 1st Grade class. Madam asked,"Boy. What is your problem?"
Boy answered, "I'm too smart for the first-grade.My sister is in the third-grade and I'm smarter than she is! I think I should be in the 4th Grade!"
Madam had enough. She took the Boy to the principal's office. While the Boy waited in the outer office, madam explained to the principal what the situation was. The principal told Madam he would give the boy a test and if he failed to answer any of his
Questions he was to go back to the first-grade and behave. She agreed.
The Boy was brought in and the conditions were explained to him and he agreed to take the test.
Principal: "What is 3 x 3?"
Boy.: "9".
Principal: "What is 6 x 6?" Boy.: "36".
< BR>And so it went with every question the principal thought a 4th grade should know. The principal looks at Madam and tells her, "I think Boy can go to the 4th grade."
Madam says to the principal, "I have some of my own questions.
Can I ask him ?" The principal and Boy both agreed.
Madam asks, "What does a cow have four of that I have only two of"?
Boy, after a moment "Legs."
Madam: "What is in your pants that you have but I do not have?"
Boy.: "Pockets."
Madam: What starts with a C and ends with a T, is hairy, oval,
Delicious and contains thin whitish liquid?
Boy.: Coconut
Madam: What goes in hard and pink then comes out soft And sticky?
The principal's eyes open really wide and before he could stop the answer, Boy was taking charge.
Boy.: Bubblegum
Madam: What does a man do standing up, a woman does sitting down and a dog does on thr ee legs?
The principal's eyes open really wide and before he could stop the answer...
Boy.: Shake hands
Madam: You stick your poles inside me. You tie me down to get me up. I get wet before you do.
Boy.: Tent
Madam: A finger goes in me. You fiddle with me when you're bored. The best man always has me first.
The Principal was looking restless, a bit tense and took one large Patiala Vodka peg.
Boy.: Wedding Ring
Madam: I come in many sizes. When I'm not well, I drip. When you blow me, you feel good.
Boy.: Nose
Madam: I have a stiff shaft. My tip penetrates. I come with a quiver.
Boy.: Arrow
Madam: What word starts with a 'F' and ends in 'K' that means lot of heat and excitement?
Boy.: Firetruck
Madam: What word starts with a 'F' and ends in 'K' & if u don't get it, u have to use urhand.
Bo y.: Fork
Madam: What is it that all men have one of it's longer on some men than on others, the pope doesn't use his and a man gives it to his wife after they're married?
Boy.: SURNAME.
Madam: What part of the man has no bone but has muscles, has lots of veins, like pumping, & is responsible for making love ?
Boy.: HEART.
The principal breathed a sigh of relief and said to the teacher,
"Send this Boy to IIM AHEMEDABAD, I got the last ten questions wrong myself!".

We begin this New Year with dampened enthusiasm and dented optimism.
Our
happiness is diluted and our peace is threatened by the financial
illness that has infected our families, organizations and nations.
Everyone is desperate to find a remedy that will cure their financial illness and help them recover their financial health.
They
expect the financial experts to provide them with remedies, forgetting
the fact that it is these experts who created this financial mess.
Every new year, I adopt a couple of old maxims as my beacons to guide my future.
This self-prescribed therapy has ensured that with each passing year, I grow wiser and not older.
This year, I invite you to tap into the financial wisdom of our elders along with me, and become financially wiser.
Hard work :
All hard work brings profit; but mere talk leads only to poverty.
Laziness :
A sleeping lobster is carried away by the water current.
Earnings :
Never depend on a single source of income.
Spending :
If you buy things you don't need, you'll soon sell things you need.
Savings :
Don't save what is left after spending; Spend what is left after saving.
Accounting :
It's no use carrying an umbrella, if your shoes are leaking.
Auditing :
Beware of little expenses; a small leak can sink a large ship.
Risk-taking :
Never test the depth of the river with both feet.
Investment :
Don't put all your eggs in one basket.
I'm
certain that those who have already been practicing these principles
remain financially healthy. I'm equally confident that those who
resolve to start practicing these principles will quickly regain their
financial health..
Let us become wiser and lead a happy, healthy, prosperous and peaceful life..
Once PV Narasimha Rao (PVNR),
L.K.Advani and Laloo Prasad Yadav were travelling in an autorickshaw.
They met with an accident and all three of them died.
Yam Raj was waiting for this moment
at the doorstep of death. He asks PVNR and Advani to go to HEAVEN. But,
for Laloo, Yam had already decided that he should be sent to HELL.
Laloo is not at all happy with this decision. He asks Yam as to why
this discrimination is being made. All the three of them had served the
public. Similarly, all took bribes, all misused public positions, etc.
Then why the differential treatment?
He felt that there should be a
formal test or an objective evaluation before a decision is made; and
should not be just based on opinion or pre-conceived notions. Yam
agrees to this and asks all the three of them to appear for an English
test. PVNR is asked to spell " INDIA " and he does it correctly.
Advani is asked to spell " ENGLAND " and he too passes. It is Laloo's
turn and he is asked to spell " CZECHOSLOVAKIA ". Laloo protests that
he doesn't know English. He says this is not fair and that he was given
a tough question and thus forced to fail with false intent.
Yam then agrees to conduct a written
test in Hindi (to give another chance assuming that Laloo should at
least feel that Hindi would provide an equal platform for all three).
PVNR is asked to write "KUTTA BOLA BHOW BHOW". He writes it easily and
passes.
Advani is asked to write "BILLY BOLI
MYAUN MYAUN". He too passes. Laloo is asked to write "BANDAR BOLA
GURRRRRR.... ." Tough one. He fails again. Laloo is extremely unhappy.
Having been a student of history (which the other two weren't),he now
requested for all the 3 to be subjected to a test in history Yam says
OK but this would be the last chance and that he would not take any
more tests.
PVNR is asked: "When did India get
Independence ?". He replied "1947" and passed. Advani is asked "How
many people died during the independence struggle?". He gets nervous.
Yam asked him to choose from 3 options: 100,000 or 200,000 or 300,000.
Advani catches it and says 200,000 and passes.
It's Laloo's turn now. Yama asks
him to give the Name and Address of each of the 200,000 who died in the
struggle. Laloo accepts defeat and agrees to go to HELL.
Moral of the story: IF YOUR MANAGEMENT HAS DECIDED TO SCREW YOU, THERE IS NO ESCAPE.

Today is the 45'th year of Nazım Hikmet's death.
Here is one of his poems;
STRONTIUM 90
Our weather doesn't fit the norms
a bit of sun, a squall of rain, snowstorms.
It's all because of the nuclear testing they say.
Strontium 90's falling in drops
on the milk, the meat, the crops
on our freedom, on our hopes
on our longings – on those doors that so often hear our knocks.
With our very selves we're caught up in a race, my rose.
Either we transfer existence to the dead and distant stars
At his another poem called "Why did Banerji kill himself?" he tells the story of a man called Banerji in Kalkuta, in prison. Banerji had been in strugle against British imperialism in Kaluta but he had been prisoned about 15 years.

There was once a washer man who had a donkey and a dog. One night when the whole world was sleeping, a thief broke into the house, the washer man was fast asleep but the donkey and the dog were awake. The dog decided not to bark since the master did not take good care of him and wanted to teach him a lesson. The donkey got worried and said to the dog that if he doesn't bark, the donkey will have to do something himself. The dog did not change his mind and the donkey started braying loudly. Hearing the donkey bray, the thief ran away, the master woke up and started beating the donkey for braying in the middle of the night for no reason.
Moral of the story " One must not engage in duties other than his own". . . . . .
Now take a new look at the same story…
The washer man was a well educated man from a premier management institute. He had the fundas of looking at the bigger picture and thinking out of the box. He was convinced that there must be some reason for the donkey to bray in the night. He walked outside a little and did some fact finding, applied a bottom up approach, figured out from the ground realities that there was a thief who broke in and the donkey only wanted to alert him about it. Looking at the donkey's extra initiative and going beyond the call of the duty, he rewarded him with lot of hay and other perks and became his favorite pet. The dog's life didn't change much, except that now the donkey was more motivated in doing the dogs duties as well. In the annual appraisal the dog managed a " meets requirement" Soon the dog realized that the donkey is taking care of his duties and he can enjoy his life sleeping and lazing around. The donkey was rated as "star performer". The donkey had to live up to his already high performance standards. Soon he was over burdened with work and always under pressure and now is looking for a job rotation…
If you have worked in a corporate environment, I am sure you have guessed the characters of the new story.
The only survivor of a shipwreck was washed up on a small, uninhabited island. He prayed feverishly for God to rescue him. Every day he scanned the horizon for help, but none seemed forthcoming. Exhausted, he eventually managed to build a little hut out of driftwood to protect him from the elements, and to store his few possessions. One day, after scavenging for food, he arrived home to find his little hut in flames, with smoke rolling up to the sky. He felt the worst had happened and everything was lost. He was stunned with disbelief, grief, and anger. He cried out, "God! How could you do this to me?" Early the next day, he was awakened by the sound of a ship approaching the island! It had come to rescue him! "How did you know I was here?", asked the weary man of his rescuers. "We saw your smoke signal," they replied.
Moral: It's easy to get discouraged when things are going bad, but we shouldn't lose heart, because God is at work in our lives, even in the midst of our pain and suffering. Remember that the next time your little hut seems to be burning to the ground. It just may be a smoke signal that summons the Grace of God.
(Former President of India APJ Abdul Kalam at Wharton India Economic forum , Philadelphia, United States March 22,2008)
Question: Could you give an example, from your own experience, of how leaders should manage failure?
Kalam: Let me tell you about my experience. In 1973 I became the project director of India's satellite launch vehicle program, commonly called the SLV-3. Our goal was to put India's "Rohini" satellite into orbit by 1980. I was given funds and human resources -- but was told clearly that by 1980 we had to launch the satellite into space. Thousands of people worked together in scientific and technical teams towards that goal.
By 1979 -- I think the month was August -- we thought we were ready. As the project director, I went to the control center for the launch. At four minutes before the satellite launch, the computer began to go through the checklist of items that needed to be checked. One minute later, the computer program put the launch on hold; the display showed that some control components were not in order. My experts -- I had four or five of them with me -- told me not to worry; they had done their calculations and there was enough reserve fuel. So I bypassed the computer, switched to manual mode, and launched the rocket. In the first stage, everything worked fine. In the second stage, a problem developed. Instead of the satellite going into orbit, the whole rocket system plunged into the Bay of Bengal. It was a big failure.
That day, the chairman of the Indian Space Research Organization, Prof. Satish Dhawan, had called a press conference. The launch was at 7:00 am, and the press conference -- where journalists from around the world were present -- was at 7:45 am at ISRO's satellite launch range in Sriharikota [in Andhra Pradesh in southern India]. Prof. Dhawan, the leader of the organization, conducted the press conference himself. He took responsibility for the failure -- he said that the team had worked very hard, but that it needed more technological support. He assured the media that in another year, the team would definitely succeed. Now, I was the project director, and it was my failure, but instead, he took responsibility for the failure as chairman of the organization.
The next year, in July 1980, we tried again to launch the satellite -- and this time we succeeded. The whole nation was jubilant. Again, there was a press conference. Prof. Dhawan called me aside and told me, "You conduct the press conference today."
I learned a very important lesson that day. When failure occurred, the leader of the organization owned that failure. When success came, he gave it to his team.
The best management lesson I have learned did not come to me from reading a book; it came from that experience

Pakistan? No one really knows. Therefore, a platform needed to be
established where all those interested in doing business with

Do
you ever find yourself getting more and more angry and frustrated while
trying to explain what is bothering you? Perhaps you feel like others
are not really listening to you or trying to understand things from
your perspective. In such circumstances, you may end up raising your
voice or becoming verbally or even physically abusive. Unfortunately,
responding in this manner usually decreases your chances of being
listened to with empathy and compassion.
Another maladaptive way
of handling your feelings, perhaps out of fear of losing control, is to
work extra hard at keeping everything bottled up inside. What happens
here is similar to what happens when a balloon keeps filling up with
more and more air. The balloon will expand as far as it can and then
eventually pop.
However,
if the balloon periodically releases some of its air, the likelihood is
it will never reach that point of popping. Similarly, a person who uses
assertive communication will be much less likely to become explosive.
As one of the eight core anger control tools, assertive communication
involves honestly and effectively communicating your feelings while
doing so in a non-hostile fashion.
Perhaps most challenging when
using assertive communication is to express your feelings without the
other person becoming angry or defensive. What makes this so difficult
is that people, for the most part, do not like to be criticized.
Telling somebody what they did wrong, what you do not like about their
behavior, or how they hurt your feelings can very easily trigger a
negative reaction.
One
of the most effective ways of using assertive communication is by using
a technique known as the Compliment Sandwich. The meat of the sandwich
(your complaint, criticism, or concern) is surrounded by two pieces of
bread (compliments or positive feedback). In order to minimize
defensiveness, you would begin with a compliment (the first piece of
bread), then present the main message that you are trying to
communicate (the meat), and then finish with another compliment (the
second piece of bread).
To help illustrate, here is an example of the Compliment Sandwich:
* I have always considered you to be one of my best friends (first compliment/positive feedback).
*
So when I heard that you were talking behind my back, I felt really
hurt. What I need is for you to talk to me directly and not get others
involved (critical feedback).
* You have always been there for me in the past, and
I know I can still count on you (second compliment/positive feedback).
As
you can see in the aforementioned example, the Compliment Sandwich made
it possible for an important communication to be made in a non-hostile
manner. By opening and closing with positive feedback, a friendly tone
was set and an important message was able to be conveyed. Rather than
aggressively attack the other person and risk making matters worse or
bottle things up and become potentially explosive, this type of
communication allows one to get things off his or her chest without
putting the other person on the defensive.
There are, however, a
few key suggestions for using the Compliment Sandwich effectively.
First, it is essential that your praise be genuine. As challenging as
it may seem with some of the more difficult people in your life, you
should be able to think of at least two things to say that are both
complimentary and sincere. It may take some extra thought on your part,
but there is almost always something positive that you can say.
It
is also important to avoid overuse of this technique so that your words
do not appear to be contrived. Finally, your compliments should in some
way be related to the critical message that you are trying to convey.
This is necessary in order for the conversation to flow smoothly and to
feel genuine. Thus, the example provided earlier would lose its
effectiveness if the compliments seemed to be out of left field (e.g.,
"I have always admired your dancing ability." and "You are such a
terrific football player."). These compliments may be genuine, but have
absolutely nothing to do with your friend talking behind your back.
By
properly using anger management techniques such as the Compliment
Sandwich, one can minimize the potential cost of anger. Health
problems, impaired self-esteem, damaged relationships, emotional
scarring of one's children, and a drop in productivity at work are all
potential outcomes of uncontrolled anger. On the other hand, when
channeled properly, anger can have many benefits.
So
the next time someone hurts your feelings or offends you, instead of
bottling things up or exploding, why not try something new and give a
Compliment Sandwich? You might be pleasantly surprised by the results.

Allah, the supreme father of all, is also instructing us continuously in the same way.He is holding the winners cup in his hand & waiting for us, but we are so busy in this Mysterious world that we are un-able to hear his indications / commands, and therefore We are not
able to become the winner in your lives.
Do you know the legend of the Cherokee Indian youth's rite of Passage?
Hisfather
takes him into the forest, blindfolds him and leaves him alone. He is
required to sit on a stump the whole night and not remove the blindfold
until the rays of the morning sun shine through it. He cannot cry out
for help to anyone. Once he survives the night, he is a MAN.
He cannot tell the other boys of this experience, because each lad must comeinto manhood on his own. The boy is naturally terrified. He can hear allkinds of noises. Wild beasts must surely be all around him. Maybe even somehuman might do him harm. The
wind blew the grass and earth, and shook hisstump, but he sat stoically, never removing the blindfold. It would be theonly way he could become a man!
Finally, after a horrific night the sun appeared and he removed hisblindfold. It was then that he discovered his father sitting on the stumpnext to him. He had been at watch the entire night, protecting his son fromharm. We, too, are never alone. Even when we don't know it, God is watchingover us, sitting on the stump beside us. When trouble comes, all we have todo is reach out to Him.
Moral of the story: Just because you can't see God, doesn't mean He is notthere. "For we walk by faith, not by sight."
God Bless.

Yesterday is "History", Tomorrow is "Mystery", Today is the Gift of God, that is why it is known as
"PRESENT".
So friends are you really enjoying this gift of god, "The Present" or are You still waiting for the "Right Time to Come"
or that special day .. to come.
How often we keep on waiting for the "Right Time" –
To do something special…
To give something special…..
To say something special to somebody
special…..
and realize that is too late.
Are you saving something for the special occasion??? But who knows whether you will be Present for that "Special Occasion"?
To
give you all an example, during my training of Time Management Program
in one of the organizations, I came across a Manager who appeared very
busy and stressed out. I asked, Sir, why are you working so hard? He
replied for my Family, for my sons. I asked, how much time do you give
to your family and your sons? For a moment he paused and replied, every
Sunday 1 hour – quality time. I asked, but sir, your sons need quantity
too, what about more time to your family and he smiled and replied "I
have planned for my retirement", "I will be there all the time for them
after my retirement." To this I inquired further, "Sir, What if you retire from this world, before you retire from your job???", won't you feel regretted that you did not spend quantity time with your sons and family.
Friends,
I'm not saying lavish out and freak out totally, but atleast enjoy the
life your love to live. But why compromise – when you can afford
something today, why wait for the special day..
So
friends, ask this question to your self today, "Am I living the life I
love to live, am I spending my time, money and energy in the right
direction today or am I waiting for some special day….the right time to
come
Here is a brief list of some thing we keep waiting to do on that special day..
Saying"I Love You" toour near and dear ones
Saying "Sorry" to whom we have hurt or asking for forgiveness
"A person should not be too honest. Straight trees are cut first and Honest people are victimized first." *************************************************** "Even if a snake is not poisonous, it should pretend to be venomous."
*************************************************** "The biggest guru-mantra is: Never share your secrets with anybody. ! It will destroy you." *************************************************** "There is some self-interest behind every friendship. There is no Friendship without self-interests. This is a bitter truth."
*************************************************** Before you start some work, always ask yourself three questions - Why am I doing it, What the results might be and Will I be successful. Only when you think deeply and find satisfactory answers to these questions, go ahead." *************************************************** "As soon as the fear approaches near, attack and destroy it." *************************************************** "Once you start a working on something, don't be afraid of failure and don't abandon it. People who work sincerely are the happiest."
*************************************************** "The fragrance of flowers spreads only in the direction of the wind. But the goodness of a person spreads in all direction." ***************************************************
"A man is great by deeds, not by birth." *************************************************** "Treat your kid like a darling for the first five years. For the next five years, scold them. By the time they turn sixteen, treat them like a friend. Your grown up children are your best friends."
*************************************************** "Books are as useful to a stupid person as a mirror is useful to a blind person." *************************************************** "Education is the best friend. An educated person is respected everywhere. Education beats the beauty and the youth."

"Rivers do not drink their own water, nor do tree eat their own fruit, nor do rain clouds eat the grains reared by them. The wealth of the noble is used solely for the benefit of others?
Even after accepting that giving is good and that one must learn to give, several questions need to be answered.
The first question is when should one give ?
We all know the famous incident from Mahabharat. Yudhisthir, asks a beggar seeking alms to come the next day. On this, Bhim rejoices, that Yudhisthir his brother, has conquered death! For he is sure that he will be around tomorrow to give. Yudhisthir gets the message.
One does not know really whether one will be there tomorrow to give!
The time to give therefore is now.
The next question is 'how much to give?
One recalls the famous incident from history. Rana Pratap was reeling after defeat from the Moghals. He had lost his army, he had lost his wealth, and most important he had lost hope, his will to fight. At that time in his darkest hour, his erstwhile minister Bhamasha came seeking him and placed his entire fortune at the disposal of Rana Pratap. With this, Rana Pratap raised an army and lived to fight another day.
The answer to this question how much to give is "Give as much as you can !
The next question is what to give ?
It is not only money that can be given. It could be a flower or even a smile.
It is not how much one gives but how one gives that really matters. When you give a smile to a stranger that may be the only good thing received by him in days and weeks!
"You can give anything but you must give with your heart
!
One also needs answer to this question whom to give ?
Many times we avoid giving by finding fault with the person who is seeking. However, being judgmental and rejecting a person on the presumption that he may not be the most deserving is not justified. "
Give without being judgmental!
Next we have to answer 'How to give?
Coming to the manner of giving, one has to ensure that the receiver does not feel humiliated, nor the giver feels proud by giving.
In giving follow the Bible, 'Let not your left hand know what your right hand gives? Charity without publicity and fanfare, is the highest form of charity.
'Give quietly !
While giving let not the recipient feel small or humiliated. After all what we give never really belonged to us. We come to this world with nothing and will go with nothing. The thing gifted was only with us for a temporary period. Why then take pride in giving away something which really did not belong to us? Give with grace and with a feeling of gratitude.
What should one feel after giving?
We all know the story of Eklavya. When Dronacharya asked him for his right thumb as "Guru Dakshina? he unhesitatingly cut off the thumb and gave it to Dronacharya.
There is a little known sequel to this story. Eklavya was asked whether he ever regretted the act of giving away his thumb. He replied, and the reply has to be believed to be true, as it was asked to him when he was dying.
His reply was "Yes ! I regretted this only once in my life. It was when Pandavas were coming in to kill Dronacharya who was broken hearted on the false news of death of his son Ashwathama and had stopped fighting. It was then that I regretted the loss of my thumb. If the thumb was there, no one could have dared hurt my Guru?
The message to us is clear.
Give and never regret giving !
And the last question is
' how much should we provide for our heirs ?
Ask yourself 'are we taking away from them the "gift of work?- a source of happiness! The answer is given by Warren Buffett:
"Leave your kids enough to do anything, but not enough to do nothing !
I would conclude by saying: let us learn the Art of Giving, and quoting Sant Kabir:
"When the wealth in the house increases, When water fills a boat, Throw them out with both hands!"
Time Management is one greatest area of

A simple question though but very interesting. And we had a brainstroming session on the same. We received more than 2 dozen new ideas but the best of them were shortlisted.
Having shortlisted the options, instead of just leaving it there, I thought why not make these as habits which we can practice everyday and distribute these free gifts.

OUR CONDOLENCE TO THE FAMILY
Qurratulain Haider loses fight for life, Urdu one of its best jewels
passed away.
INNA LILAHE WAINNA ILEHE RAAJIOON
New Delhi, Aug 21: Eminent Urdu fiction writer and Jnanpith Award
winner Qurratulain Haider died Tuesday after a prolonged illness. She
was 80.
Known for her imaginative and realistic prose, Haider had touched
upon the lives of common people through her works like "Aag ka
Darya", a historic epic, "Aakhre shab ke Hamsafar" and "Chandni
Begum".
She has penned nearly a dozen novels and novellas and many short
stories. One of her best-known works, "Aag ki Darya" (The River of
Fire), is a massive historical tale that spans the 4th century BC to
the modern period.
Born in 1927 in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, Haider drew early inspiration
from her father S.H. Yaldram, a well-known writer, as well as her
mother, Nazr Zahra, a novelist.
Haider, who settled down in Delhi, never married.
An iconoclast, Haider broke the through the poetry-dominated Urdu
literary world to give Urdu prose its due recognition through her
works that earned her accolades.
Often called an author of "poetry in prose" due to her eloquence and
versatility, Haider's death brings the curtain down on an era in post-
colonial Urdu literature.
She left India during the 1947 partition, but returned in 1960. Her
experience during the division of the country, the trauma and agony
of people she had witnessed during that period often filtered into
her writings.
She was also associated with journalism and worked for The
Illustrated Weekly of India and for Imprint. She served as a guest
lecturer in several varsities in India and abroad.
Her body was interred at the campus of the Jamia Milia Islamia here
where she was professor emeritus.
