   Byrd to Fight Homeland Bill

   Sen. Robert Byrd (D-W.Va.) is threatening to put the brakes on
   legislation to create the Department of Homeland Security, citing
   Congress' need to fully analyze all aspects of the proposed
   Cabinet-level office before approving a major restructuring of the
   federal government.

   Byrd, the chairman of the Appropriations Committee, said he is
   concerned Congress is moving too quickly in an effort to approve
   the new department, a pace he argued puts the legislative branch
   at risk of ceding more of its power to the White House.

   "It would be my duty to do whatever I could to support and defend
   the Constitution, and I have no hesitancy in doing it," Byrd said in
   an interview this week. "I don't like to throw around the word
   filibuster. I hope we won't come to that."

   Byrd is not the only Member who is openly questioning the
   homeland security bill drafted by the White House. Two House
   Democrats on Tuesday sent a letter to Homeland Security Director
   Tom Ridge expressing their concerns about the proposed
   department's structure. But Byrd is the only lawmaker who has
   suggested he might work to prevent the bill's passage.

   The West Virginia Democrat said he is not opposed to approving a
   Cabinet-level homeland office this year, but preferred that
   Congress refrain from rushing to set up a full-blown department in
   the next few months.

   Instead, Byrd proposed that Congress create a framework for the
   department and confirm its director but delay much of the work on
   its components until next year.

   "This is an awfully big step to take, and we ought not to act in such

   a way we will regret it," Byrd said.

   Senate Minority Leader Trent Lott (R-Miss.) warned that any
   attempt to block establishing a homeland security department
   before Congress adjourned would be met with drastic political
   consequences.

   "I don't think any Senator is going to want to filibuster a homeland
   security department," Lott said. "This has got broad bipartisan
   support and that would be a very unwise decision."

   But Byrd said that he is not going to allow politics to dictate his
   actions. "We better slow down, and the administration critics can
   rave all they want," he said. "We need to read the Constitution and
   not the polls."

   A spokeswoman for Senate Majority Leader Thomas Daschle said
   the South Dakota Democrat was still reviewing all aspects of the
   bill.

   "We intend to have this bill on the floor at the end of the month,"
   said Ranit Schmelzer, Daschle's spokeswoman. "With that goal in
   mind, Senator Daschle and [Governmental Affairs Chairman]
   Senator [Joe] Lieberman and others are working through the
   substance and process before reaching agreement with all sides."

   Byrd said he is particularly concerned about several "half-baked
   proposals" in the White House legislation to create the department
   which he claimed would usurp Congressional power.

   "The bill is not all that good a bill," Byrd said. "I support
creating a
   Department of Homeland Security, but I don't support giving the
   department ... extraordinary powers most of the other departments
   do not have. There are proposals in the bill that are not good
   proposals from the standpoint of the Constitution."

   The provisions Byrd objects to include the White House's attempt to
   gain the power to transfer appropriations, sell assets, or
   discontinue units within the Department without Congressional
   approval.

   "If a statute is changed it should be done by a similar statute,"Byrd

   said. "Congress is the lawmaking body, and one only has to read
   the first section of the first Article of the Constitution to
understand
   that."

   Sen. Ted Stevens (R-Alaska), the ranking member on the
   Appropriations Committee, joined Byrd in penning a June 24 letter
   to Lieberman expressing their opposition to several provisions in
   the Bush legislation. Lieberman is charged with crafting legislation
   in the Senate to create a homeland defense office.

   But Stevens, also a senior member of the Governmental Affairs
   panel, said that unlike Byrd, he favors creating a fully functional
   department this year.

   "I am working with Lieberman and [ranking member Sen. Fred]
   Thompson [R-Tenn.] on a full bill," said Stevens, who added his split

   with the Byrd on this issue would not affect their relationship.

   Cordial relations between Byrd and Stevens are expected to help
   the Senate through the appropriations process during this politically

   charged midterm election year. The full Senate has failed so far to
   approve any appropriations bills, but both Stevens and Byrd
   predicted that they would move all 13 spending bills out of
   committee by the August recess.

   "We are going to move very quickly this month, I think," Stevens
   said. "All going well, we will mark up all our bills this month."

   Byrd also suggested the White House's attempts to usurp
   Congressional power might have roots that go back to the Nixon
   administration.

   "For a long time, the powers were gravitating to the President
   under [Franklin] Roosevelt, then came the Nixon era when the
   powers began gravitating back to the Congress," Byrd said. "The
   powers began coming back to this end of the avenue because of
   the sordid actions on the part of the Nixon administration.

   "You have got to remember that some of these people in this
   administration were part of the Nixon administration and the Ford
   administration that followed it. They saw those powers come this
   way and they probably are chafing still about it and they want to
   see those powers brought back to the other end of the avenue."

   Vice President Cheney served under Nixon in the Office of Economic
   Opportunity and later became chief of staff to President Gerald
   Ford. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld also served as director of
   the Office of Economic Opportunity under Nixon and preceded
   Cheney as Ford's chief of staff. Rumsfeld left as Ford's top aide to
   become secretary of Defense.

   This week, several House committees are expected to offer their
   recommendations on the homeland security bill, which will then be
   reviewed by a special committee chaired by retiring Majority Leader
   Dick Armey (R-Texas). Several Senate committees are holding
   hearings this week on the bill, and the Governmental Affairs panel
   is expected to mark up its version of the bill on July 24.

   Lott said the homeland security bill was discussed during a
   bicameral, bipartisan meeting at the White House yesterday and
   "both the House and Senate leaders felt like we were positioned
   pretty well and that the atmosphere is pretty good on being able to
   get a homeland security department done."

   In an interview later in the day, Lott said that any problems Byrd
   has with the bill should be addressed when it reaches the Senate
   floor.

   "If Senator Byrd or any other Senator has any problems with the
   legislation then they ought to offer amendments or make their
   concerns known," Lott said. "We are going to go to homeland
   security before the August recess, and I hope we are going to pass
   it in a bipartisan way."

   But Byrd argued that creating this agency is a big undertaking and
   "we ought to take our time and be careful and not act with haste.

   "We don't have to be in all this rush," Byrd said. "The so-called war

   on terrorism, we hear, will be here a long time and we ought not
   allow ourselves to be used for partisan reasons to expedite action
   just simply to meet somebody's ambitious goal."

   As for the prospect of Congress having to return for a lame duck
   session to work on the homeland security issue, Byrd said it would
   not be necessary.

   "I don't favor one for that," Byrd said. "We got time in early next
   year. We have been without such a department for many years."

   "We have already acted in haste on several occasions since
   September 11. We should have taken more time, and I think we are
   beginning to see it. This is a big one, and we don't want to make a
   mistake on this one."

WASHINGTON - The Justice Department is forging ahead with establishing a network of domestic tipsters_despite being dealt what may be a deathly blow to the plan: House Majority Leader Dick Armey, R-Texas, inserted last week a ban on the program in the bill to form a new Homeland Security Department.

"The administration is continuing to pursue Operation TIPS. We're continuing with that course of action," Barbara Comstock, spokeswoman for Attorney General John Ashcroft, said in an interview Friday. That was the same day Armey's committee approved the bill. "We believe the program represents an important resource and that it's been misrepresented to date."

Operation TIPS, short for Terrorism Information and Prevention System, is one part of President George W. Bush's volunteerism initiatives. It aims to recruit millions of American workers to be alert to "suspicious" activities they encounter in their workday routines_and report them to a toll-free, federal hotline. The government is looking for "truck drivers, bus drivers, train conductors, mail carriers, utility meter readers, ship captains and port personnel," according to the program's Web site.

Armey's impetus for banning Operation TIPS? "To ensure that no operation of the department can be construed to promote citizens spying on one another," he wrote in his summary of the bill. The Republican leader's opposition was the politically weightiest in a weeklong series of statements against the program, set for launch in August.

The American Civil Liberties Union declared last Monday that the program could turn utility workers into "government-sanctioned peeping Toms." Then on Wednesday the Rutherford Institute, a conservative think tank that promotes privacy and religious rights, weighed in.

"What this means for the average citizen is that whatever you read, eat or do - in the privacy of your home or out in public_will now be suspect in the eyes of your cable repairman, postal carrier, meter man or others who, by way of the services they provide, will have access to your home," said John W. Whitehead, founder and president of the Virginia-based institute.

The outcry prompted the U.S. Postal Service to issue a statement Wednesday to make it clear that its 300,000-plus letter carriers nationwide hadn't signed on.

But Sue Brennan, spokeswoman for the Postal Service, said in an interview Friday that the idea was still on the table. She said Postal Service officials and the unions representing its letter carriers plan to meet with Justice Department officials to further explore the program. The notice of nonparticipation, she said, was to make it clear that an earlier meeting did not signal an endorsement.

"We issued it to try to calm what was going on," she said. "We never agreed to participate. Nothing had progressed beyond that first meeting."

Yet the plan has plenty of takers already. Labor unions that represent the nation's truck drivers and port workers stepped up to volunteer their "eyes and ears" to the terrorism surveillance effort.

Indeed, James P. Hoffa, general president of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, stood in the White House driveway June 21 after a meeting with Homeland Security Director Tom Ridge to pledge his support.

"On behalf of the Teamsters, I offered the fact that we have 500,000 truck drivers on the road at any one time, and these people can be the eyes and ears of the Homeland Security office," Hoffa said. "They are in secure buildings. We have 250,000 UPS workers. And we're going to work with the director in the future about trying to put together a program where they can report as they see things that are suspicious."

Teamsters spokesman Rob Black told the Post-Dispatch that the union has held "informal talks" with the administration since then.

"The Teamsters remain willing to make good on Mr. Hoffa's offer to help serve in the homeland security efforts, and the TIPS program is something that the Teamsters clearly support," Black said.

Similarly, the president of the 85,000-member International Longshoremen's Association stands by his vow in late March to play a surveillance role at the nation's docks.

"In the wake of September 11th, U.S. ports are again the focus of concern for illegal use of containers," Longshoreman's President John Bowers wrote in the summer newsletter to union members. "The contents could contain something much more destructive than illegal drugs, perhaps even a nuclear device.

"My members know the docks. They would know better than anyone if something's wrong."

The ACLU is acknowledging that, in such instances, a volunteer tipster program would be perfectly legitimate. But the group's primary concern revolves around the administration's stated purpose of recruiting from the ranks of utility meter readers and package delivery personnel.

"I'm less worried about interstate truckers as UPS delivery people who go to people's homes. Americans still feel like their home is a sacred place, where they should be free from unreasonable government surveillance," said ACLU legislative counsel Rachel King. She believes overzealous volunteers might consider as suspicious items they spot in a home_such as gun magazines, a Quran or letters written in Arabic.

"That doesn't mean if you're a UPS worker and you see a bomb that we don't want you to report it. We're not saying, `Don't use common sense.' We're just saying that at what point do we create an informant society?"

Comstock, the Justice Department spokeswoman, said Operation TIPS' planners have no intention of promoting snooping in private places:

"None of the Operation TIPS materials published on the Web or elsewhere have made reference to entry or access to the homes of individuals; nor has it ever been the intention of the Department of Justice, or any other agency, to set up such a program. Our interest in establishing the Operation TIPS program is to allow American workers to share information they receive in the regular course of their jobs in public places and areas."

According to the program's Web site, Operation TIPS' launch will start this summer "as a pilot program in 10 cities." But on Friday, when asked whether the Justice Department had chosen those 10 cities, Comstock said the pilot plan had been scrapped for a less-targeted approach.

The ACLU, which was particularly concerned with the focus of a large corps of volunteer tipsters in just 10 U.S. cities, welcomed the change of plans. King speculated that opposition from multiple prongs of the political spectrum_and particularly from Armey_may have tempered the initial plan.

"It sounds like maybe the Justice Department is trying to take into consideration some of the concerns," King said. "If that's the case, I'm happy to hear that."

Bush made a strange slip in his speech today--He said, toward the end, that the journalists are very critical, want to see more out of us, but when they are bunched up and the military finds them, they'll be sorry indeed."

He slipped--he meant to say THE TERRORISTS, but slipped and indicated--double speak--that when the military finds the journalists bunched up...then....

Well Alex, it's finally happening. I learned about the Posse Comitatus Act from your shows and films, and I just saw a story on the local news (Austin) that the law is under review by the administration. This will give the military police power and more or less turn us, the people, into sheep to be herded. Tom Ridge, head of Homeland Security, was shown in the coverage saying that there are no plans to repeal the law, but that it may come up in discussion. My interpretation is that our government will throw another massive terror attack on its country, and rally enough support from the people to totally do away with Posse Comitatus altogether. Like you said, it's incrementalism. I just wanted to let you know that the Bush Crime Syndicate (BCS) is now openly discussing military policing in America. Our worst Orwellian nightmares are materializing right before our eyes.

I just wanted to give you and "FYI" that there will be a Bio-Terrorism excercise today in Baton Rouge. My husband is on the B. R. Fire Dept. Hazardous Materials Team which will conduct a joint excersise with a "local" military rapid response team (sorry, don't have the excact name of this unit but you know them....they are the one of perhaps a dozen of these teams that are scattered arount the US in order to be able to respond quickly to certain large scale events). radical Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA), is once again trying to be rushed through committee with a stamp of approval. It is offensively titled The Family Reunification Act. security boss, Tom Ridge has already called for military
assistance to help in the fight against terrorism.
Whereas, civilians can be detained or arrested by the
military. What a scary scenario! I know that you have
talked about this time and time again. There is no

THE NEW WORLD ORDER HAS ARIVED AT THE LOCAL BEACH!

I took my family to a beach on a small lake in rural Minnesota this last weekend. As soon as we walked up to get into the water the stage was set with the sound of a blow horn "NO RUNNING ON THE DOCK....THANK YOU". I was a lifeguard as a teen and remembered that running on wet surfaces was discouraged, no problem. Then 10 seconds later "NO HOLDING ON TO THE ROPES.....THANK YOU", then "NO SPIN JUMPING OFF OF THE DOCK....THANK YOU" then "THIS IS YOUR LAST WARNING, NO SWIMMING UNDER THE DOCK....THANK YOU" and within 5 minutes my nephew was ordered out of the water by a Gestapo want-a-be "lifeguard" and ordered to sit next to him on the beach. I had been watching what had been going on so I went up to the lord lifeguard and asked him what exactly are the rules on this beach? Lord lifeguard with a body that looked like he was on steroids and a head the size of a baseball said "no running, no rocking the floating raft, no swimming under things, no this, no that, and then he summed it up, he said with a straight face "if your having fun you�re breaking the rules".

Well what to do....I suppose we could have packed up and left but it was 90 degrees with high humidity, I had my kids and two of my nephews with and had promised them that we were going to go swimming and grandma (who lives 1 hour one way and we live 2 hours the other way) was coming here to pickup my nephews ...what to do? Well first thing I did was got my nephew out of the brig and then I gathered the kids and was explaining to them that all they could do was stand in the water and not move, but as I was talking to them I realized that the centurion guard�s jurisdiction only included the roped off section of the beach so we moved just outside of the ropes and did our thing for the next couple of hours.

All week long I listen to Alex Jones and tried to take a day off from the New World Order and relax next to a secluded lake and it comes and finds me. In this case I could move just outside of it�s power but what happens when we can�t do that? Just like in the movie the Patriot, Benjamin Martin thought he could just mind his own business, but sooner or later it will come and find you.

An ongoing source of frustration and anger for many Americans is the lack
of support the war on terrorism has received abroad. Other nations are
considerably less enthusiastic about our use of "daisy cutter" and
"thermobaric" bombs than we think they should be. Why is that?
One reason is their media. Stories alleging imperial and commercial
motives for the war on terrorism are rife.

Outside this country, there is a widespread belief that U.S. military
deployments in Central Asia mostly are about oil.

An article in the Guardian of London headlined, "A pro-western regime in
Kabul should give the U.S. an Afghan route for Caspian oil," foreshadowed
the kind of skeptical coverage the U.S. war now receives in many
countries.

"The invasion of Afghanistan is certainly a campaign against terrorism,"
wrote author George Monbiot in the Oct. 22, 2001, piece, "but it may also
be a late colonial adventure."

He wrote that the U.S. oil company Unocal Corp. had been negotiating with
the Taliban since 1995 to build "oil and gas pipelines from Turkmenistan,
through Afghanistan and into Pakistani ports on the Arabian sea." He cited
Ahmed Rashid's authoritative book "Taliban, Militant Islam, Oil and
Fundamentalism in Central Asia" as a source for this information.

Rashid, who has reported on Afghan wars for more than 20 years as a
correspondent for the Eastern Economic Review and the Daily Telegraph,
carefully documents in his book how the U.S. and Pakistan helped install
the Taliban in hopes of bringing stability to the war-ravaged region and
making it safer for the pipeline project. Unocal pulled out of the deal after the
1998 terrorist attacks on U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania were linked
to terrorists based in Afghanistan.

"The war against terrorism is a fraud," exclaimed John Pilger in an Oct.
29 commentary in the British-based Mirror. Pilger, the publication's former
chief foreign correspondent, wrote, "Bush's concealed agenda is to exploit
the oil and gas reserves in the Caspian basin, the greatest source of
untapped fossil fuel on earth."

These harsh assessments are not just those of embittered ideologues. They
are common fare. "Just as the Gulf War in 1991 was about oil, the new
conflict in South and Central Asia is no less about access to the region's
abundant petroleum resources," writes Ranjit Devraj in the Hong Kong-based
Asia Times, a business-oriented publication.

A popular French book titled "Bin Laden, the Forbidden Truth," which
alleges that the Bush administration blocked investigations of Osama bin Laden
while it bargained for him with the Taliban in exchange for political
recognition and economic aid, is guiding much of the recent European coverage.

Written by Jean-Charles Brisard and Guillaume Dasquie, the book adds
another plank to the argument that America's major objective was to gain access to
the region's oil and gas reserves.

According to the book, the Bush administration began to negotiate with the
Taliban immediately after coming into power. The parties talked for many
months before reaching an impasse in August 2001.

The terrorist acts of Sept. 11, though tragic, provided the Bush
administration a legitimate reason to invade Afghanistan, oust the
recalcitrant Taliban and, coincidentally, smooth the way for the pipeline.

To make things even smoother, the U.S. engineered the rise to power of two
former Unocal employees: Hamid Karzai, the new interim president of
Afghanistan, and Zalmay Khalizad, the Bush administration's Afghanistan
envoy.

"Osama bin Laden did not comprehend that his actions serve American
interests," writes Uri Averny, in a Feb. 14 column in the daily Ma'ariv in
Israel. Averny, a former member of the Israeli Knesset and a noted peace
activist, added, "If I were a believer in conspiracy theory, I would think
that bin Laden is an American agent. Not being one I can only wonder at
the coincidence."

Averny argues that the war on terrorism provides a perfect pretext for
America's imperial interests. "If one looks at the map of the big American
bases created for the war, one is struck by the fact that they are
completely identical to the route of the projected oil pipeline to the
Indian Ocean."

The Asia Times reported in January that the U.S. is developing "a network
of multiple Caspian pipelines," and that people close to the Bush
administration stand to benefit.

For example, the proposed Baku-Ceyhan pipeline, linking Azerbaijan through
Georgia to Turkey, is represented by the law firm Baker & Botts. The
principal attorney is James Baker, former secretary of state and chief
spokesman for the Bush campaign in the Florida vote controversy.

In 1997, the now disgraced Enron Corp. conducted the feasibility study for
the $2.5 billion Trans-Caspian pipeline being built under a joint venture
between Turkmenistan, Bechtel Corp. and General Electric, the article
noted.

There are many other connections, too numerous to recount here. No wonder
the rest of the world is a bit skeptical about our war on evildoers.

Health Canada officials are investigating after a wave of illness broke out among people aboard a Vancouver-bound VIA Rail train last week.

Although VIA Rail officials could not confirm the number of people affected, an American passenger hit by the illness said Sunday that dozens developed nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.

"It's the sickest I've ever been," said Antoinette Renshaw, 55, who boarded the VIA Rail Canadian train in Toronto on July 16.

She said in an interview Sunday that several hours after departure, rumours began to circulate that crew members were falling ill.

When the train reached Winnipeg on the afternoon of July 17, Renshaw said the train was boarded by a crew of people wearing black smocks.

"We called them the men in black," she said. The workers walked around the train, spraying and wiping down surfaces.

"They said they were spraying places that people touched," Renshaw said.

Later that evening, Renshaw noticed a letter posted near her sleeper car.

"It said that a communicable disease was aboard the train, and it was also affecting airlines, buses, and other places where people congregate," she said.

Renshaw began to worry. She spoke to other passengers, many of whom were beginning to feel gastrointestinal upsets, to see if they knew what was happening, but most hadn't even seen the letter. Speaking to VIA employees, she said, was just as frustrating.

"I asked them for a copy of the letter, and they wouldn't give me one," she said. "They weren't very helpful."

About 24 hours after Renshaw got off the train in Jasper, where she was meeting a friend, she began to feel ill. Renshaw said she vomited for 12 hours, and was in intense pain.

Health Canada confirmed Sunday that it is looking at the rash of illness aboard the train.

"An investigation by occupational and environmental health officials is under way," said Health Canada spokesman Blair Parkhurst.

VIA Rail spokeswoman Kelly Thomas said that as a result of the outbreak, two passenger cars were taken off the tracks, and cleaned thoroughly.

The symptoms experienced by passengers and crew aboard the train, she said, are consistent with those of Norwalk-like viruses. The symptoms include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, muscle aches, headaches, fatigue and fevers.

The viruses are spread when food that is not cooked is handled by infected people who did not wash their hands after using the washroom, by consuming water contaminated by sewage or by consuming ice made from contaminated water, and from shellfish harvested from sewage-contaminated water.

Asked why passengers weren't given more information, she said she had been told the crew was briefed and should have been able to answer questions.

Because symptoms may not occur for up to 24 to 48 hours after exposure, VIA is asking anyone who experienced symptoms after boarding the train to phone 1-800-561-8630.

Meanwhile, Renshaw, who had planned to continue her train journey to Vancouver, then take the train home to where she lives near Tacoma, Wash., has changed her mind.

She said Sunday she'll fly home from Alberta instead.

"My rail pass home was paid for, but I'd rather pay a last-minute one-way fare home to avoid taking the train," she said. "I'm not stepping on that damn train again."

We all know there is covert/overt mindcontrol

in TV advertisements, and for many years TV ads

have made me angry on a sub-conscious, and a

non-cognizant level. Now, I am using my (slight)

knowledge of filmmaking and mass media technology

to look for it. Just as Alex has observed, they are being

more blatant than I have ever seen. This is way beyond

the skulls in ice cubes in magazine liquor ads; the newest

Diet Pepsi (Opium processing plants in Cambodia in

Viet Nam war, etc.) ads have Austin Powers (Mike

Meyers) pausing in front of a magnificent pair of African

horns from an Impala, Sable, or other type of Antelope

so that it appears that they are attached to the Austin Powers character's leering head. Check it out! I'll have some more video for you soon. I hope it is of some help.

If I understand everything that's going on in America
then something like the following could happen!

Year 2012

It's 1:30am as I sit here with my grandson telling him
of the good old days. It has been a long week working
at the local plant, and then having to attend church
in the middle of the night. I tell him of how I
remember attending church anytime I wanted to. I tell
him how we used to be able to travel any place in this
country we wanted without having to stop at roadblocks
and being searched. I tell him about when we were
free. And how things are so different now, hiding out
and seeking a safe place to worship. He asks me why
everything has changed and I try to explain what
happened to the U.S. I ask if he remembers reading
about the 911 attacks against the U.S. in his history
books, he said yes. I proceeded to tell him:

The attacks scared us so bad that we gave up our
freedoms for a sense of security. When a few
terrorists used those planes as bombs we felt very
vulnerable to anyone's attack. The people allowed the
government to change our constitution and enact a
military state. This enactment help the people feel
safe for a while. Then our government started easing
restrictions and changes onto the public in such a way
that most people didn't even know. When it was too
late the people had no freedoms remaining.

The government started with our law enforcement
agencies. They created one Agency for law
enforcement. Then they decided to allow our military
forces to be able to take action against the U.S.
citizens and they soon became a part of the Agency.
The government soon began recruiting citizens under
the T.I.P.S. program to spy on their neighbors. These
citizens would report all suspicious activity to the
Agency.

Soon the government decided it needed a way to track
the citizens so they created a virus scare. They
began inoculating citizens with an injection that
contained a vaccine and a small micro-chip. This chip
was implanted under the skin of the citizens without
their knowledge during the inoculations. Now they
could track you and control more of your freedoms.
After the implant they used the Military Agency to
search homes for the possibility of weapons and arms
that could be classified as weapons of terrorism. I
remember them coming to my house and after searching
through all of our belongings they confiscated my
father's B.B. gun. I don't know how that was
considered to be a weapon of terrorism.

Shortly after the implants the Agency started seeing
how small the groups of people that gathered on
Sundays for church had become so they decided to pass
another law. This law would abolish Sunday worship
because it was not constitutional for a religious
group to infringe on the rights of others. Sundays
became just another workday. Small groups of people
would still meet in the churches for worship each day
so the government decided to seize the property. This
was handled by the I.R.S. The government decided
because these buildings had been used as tax exempt
public venues they could take control of them. Our
churches disappeared.

The government soon implemented a control of all sales
to the public by use of the implants. You couldn't
purchase food, gas, or any other items without the
implant. Soon all employers had to use scanners for
the employees to pay taxes and to receive their wages.
All doctors had to use the national database and
reporting systems. All your medical information was
accessed through this implanted chip.

My grandson just sat there in amazement at how so may
changes could have taken place in such a short period
of time. But this is the year 2012. Now we have to
hide to worship God. We have to steal to eat. We
have to use homeopathic medicines to stay well. I
joke with my grandson that soon the government will
charge us to breath (I guess they already do though)..

Year 2002
How could we let this happen? Some of these changes
are taking place in our "Free" nation at this time.

nations thought they had to surrender their freedoms
to the government for protection of their freedoms.
In fact all they got was government control. Their
government controlled the freedom of movement, food
supplies, medical supplies and other necessities of
life. This way of government is starting to sound

SALIQUELLO, Argentina - Daniel Belot has seen his share of dead cows.

As a veterinarian in the heart of the cow-full pampas, Belot has written off bovine deaths to causes as diverse as foot-and-mouth disease, bloat, lightning, killer bees and cattle thieves who butcher their loot in place, a crime that has become increasingly common as Argentina's economic crisis has extended to the countryside.

Then, in April, he discovered a case that stumped him. A rancher had found a nearly 1,000-pound Aberdeen Angus lying on its belly "like a rabbit," in Belot's words. The left side of its face around the jaw was gone, the hide cut away in two straight lines meeting at a 90-degree angle.

Its tongue, pharynx and larynx were missing. Muscles and ligaments had been removed from the jawbones, leaving them spotless. There was no blood on the animal or nearby; nor were there signs of scavengers or predators.

"I had never seen anything like it before," says Belot, who works for Argentina's animal health agency, Senasa, in the sleepy town of Saliquello. "How were those cuts made? When? Why?"

Three months later, Belot has no answers. Across this country's immense, grassy plains, Argentina's renowned beef cattle are turning up dead, mutilated in ways that have baffled experts and spooked ranchers.

Since Belot detected the first mutilation in April, nearly 200 more have been reported in the area, in addition to a scattering of cases from as far away as Patagonia and Uruguay.

Most cows have the same missing parts as the first one examined by Belot. But all the mutilations share an uncanny similarity: Organs, flesh and skin have been removed in angular or neatly curved cuts that leave no blood and clean, dry bones.

"The type of incisions do not coincide with any infectious or contagious disease that we know," says Alberto Pariani, a veterinarian at the University of La Pampa who has examined 40 mutilated cows. "When animals eat, they rip, they tear. They don't cut.

"Everyone who has experience working on the ranch says the same thing: No animal can do this."

Blame has been pinned on everything from ravenous rodents to satanic cults, but in the farmhouses and small towns that dot the pampas, the paranormal is the No. 1 suspect. Sure enough, the mutilations have been accompanied by a spate of UFO sightings.

The mutilations are not without precedent. Since the 1960s, hundreds of mutilated animals have been found in the United States with nearly identical characteristics - removal of organs in what appear to be surgically precise cuts, no trace of blood, no tracks of humans or animals, often with coinciding testimonies of strange lights.

Mutilation cases have been reported during the past year in Montana and Oregon. The news media have evoked comparisons with the legend of the chupacabras, literally "goat sucker," revived in Puerto Rico several years ago when farm animals there were reportedly found dead and bloodless with abnormal puncture wounds.

But according to an Argentine government-backed investigation, the mutilations have an earthly explanation. A team of university veterinarians working with specialists from Senasa and the National Institute of Agricultural Technology recently announced that they had caught the mysterious cow mutilator.

The culprit's name: Oxymycterus, commonly known as the long-nosed mouse. The theory holds that the cows die from disease or other natural causes, not unusual in winter, and are then set upon by scavengers, including foxes and birds. But it is the hungry long-nosed mouse, with its four potent incisors, that is allegedly responsible for nibbling off flesh and hide in circular and linear cuts.

To prove their hypothesis, veterinarians at the national university in the city of Tandil placed dead cows in areas where some of the mutilations had been discovered. Four or five days later, the cows were left with "lesions exactly the same" as those discovered in the mutilated cows.

The announcement was made at a Buenos Aires news conference, where reporters were shown a video of mice crawling through a carcass and chomping a cow tongue on a laboratory table. National media coverage of the mutilations has effectively ended since the news conference.

But many experts and local veterinarians remain unconvinced by the government-endorsed conclusion. One question the university team has not answered is why the mice, or any scavenger for that matter, would consume the hide around the jaw instead of first devouring the rest of the cow's softer flesh and innards.

Another chink in the theory: Some cows have been found mutilated hours after being seen intact, leaving scant time for the mice to remove the organs.

Nobody, from ranchers to biologists specializing in rodents, has ever seen mice feed on a cow carcass.

The Tandil veterinarians suggest that a demographic explosion combined with an unusually cold winter have driven the mice to change their diet from worms and slugs to cow flesh. But in many cases, witnesses have seen no signs of mice or any other scavengers. Raising even greater doubts, the long-nosed mouse does not inhabit the province of La Pampa, where dozens of mutilations have been found.

The team of university and government specialists limited their study to five counties in the province of Buenos Aires. They did not make available the details of their investigation.

But if the mouse theory has its holes, the possibility of human involvement seems even more unlikely. Police have found no footprints or tire tracks near the animals. Nor are there signs of struggle; cows killed by predators or humans usually leave kick marks as they take their final gasps. In some cases, the cows were discovered behind fences and locked gates or miles from the nearest road.

Nobody has seen anyone or anything out of the ordinary, except weird lights in the sky.

"We are totally disoriented," says Oscar Raul Arce, the chief of the provincial police in northern La Pampa. "What is really striking is that no clues, or prints or blood have been left.

"What's going on here is perhaps beyond our ability to understand."

For most people out on the pampas, where cows outnumber humans in the range of 10-to-1, something strange is responsible for the mutilations, and it's not the long-nosed mouse.

"I'd always heard stories of people who had seen lights and strange things," says rancher Raul Vargas, 39, standing over a mutilated calf found the day before a half-mile from his farmhouse.

"But if I hadn't seen this with my own eyes, I wouldn't have believed it."

I was married to a postal carrier. He withheld mail from me for 10 months, (resulting in the cancellation of my car insurance, the threat of removal of my daughter's headstone at the cemetary) changed my address at my insurance company, had a sign put up at one of the sorter's or pitchers (carriers who sort mail according to addresses) post saying "not to deliver mail at my address (got this from an insider), I even had a certified return receipt returned to me the day after I mailed it. I'm gonna keep this short, cause the full story of everything that happened
would take a few pages.

About two weeks ago I was standing around with a couple of friends and the
brother of a friend whose home we were standing just outside of, going to
head home for the night. This brother, who happens to be an overly
patriotic marine, I also went to high school with so he knew who I was. But
I mentioned the idea of WTC collapse and with how the buildings collapsed,
they couldn't have fallen the way they did without some sort of detonation.
Of course this marine snaps on the spot, and as we try walking away from
him, he attacks me and breaks my jaw, without me even touching him once for
I being a pacifist. Yet when the cops show up a minute or two later to pull
him off, he yells at them, commanding them almost, to join him in kicking my

And for what? For free thought? Talking about the simple IDEA of a
conspiracy, and this is what happens? Is this something that they're being
trained to do? He himself saying that he was trained to kill, and asking me
if I would like to find out for myself as he tried getting me to touch him
once, as if he could attack in claim of self defence, but he got fed up with
waiting and just attacked. Yet I still never did touch him.

Since when could the military attack civilians for free thought? And what
would it mean to everyone should I somehow manage to lose this case when it
goes to court in a few months?

I guess when you achieve some sort of mainstream acceptance that you tend to compromise a bit and have people like this play a part in your organization. Joe Farah over the years has been good for folks like us but over the past couple of years I've seen him grab up some folks and promote them that make his organization seem to be a bit mixed up. After the plug for microchips by Hannity on the Fox show, I have very little to do with him now. He is ever increasing his role as mouth piece for the Bush Administration to a most sickening level.

In the article below, I am noticing a TREND that I am also seeing elsewhere;
a person gets "attacked" by the state in some fashion (one example: the guy
who videotaped the recent police brutality in California; fox news carried
the story of him also being "wanted" by the police because of some old
warrants out for his arrest), and then somehow some story is concocted to
discredit the individual. In the case below, they bring up the old fraud
case, which has NOTHING to do with the case at hand, whatsoever; I do not
believe that the police ever even determined if a crime was committed at the
store in the first place! In the video case, the thing is, no matter what
the guy's background, what he video'd those police doing to that kid was
still violent. Tarnishing the cameraman's reputation on national news and
creating "old" warrants does nothing to change what those police officers
did. BUT the message that comes through is that "hmm, maybe that video
wasn't as reliable as it appears", even though the image on the video hasn't
changed.

Just the other week, the "law enforcement officials" had a training session
at a semi-abandoned mall here in Columbus, OH; they were practicing
combatting "radical environmentalists". I wonder, though, when they're going
to start battling, for real, the "anti-tolerance terrorists", who turn in
many, many cases to be parents who don't vaccinate their kids, or who
homeschool, or who refuse to use daycare, or who go to church, or who are
Christians... I mean, FEMA already has a deadline of January 2003 to be
ready to house millions of displaced persons in tent cities because of a
"surprise" attack from an "unknown" source, right?

I've been telling this stuff to my husband since oh, about 10 months ago,
and he's just only now starting to get on board... (thank God); when he says
"conspiracy theory", I tell him, "honey, we're living in a conspiracy
reality now".

A West Side man who tried to fake his death eight years ago apparently took
his life yesterday after he barricaded himself in his house.

Darrell G. Lydelle, 41, of 355 Demorest Rd., was pronounced dead after a
police chase followed by a standoff on the West Side.

Details remained sketchy last night as detectives pieced together the ordeal
that began at a Mexican market at Sullivant Avenue and Binns Boulevard
yesterday morning.

According to Columbus police, an officer driving by the store noticed some
commotion.

As she prepared to stop her cruiser to investigate, a man -- later
identified as Lydelle -- was chased from the store by people inside it.

Police say Lydelle dashed to his car and sped off, and an unidentified
officer gave chase.

Unsure what, if any, crime had been committed, a sergeant called off the
pursuit. But a police helicopter spotted Lydelle run into his house about
11:30 a.m.

Officers arrived and entered the house. When they confronted Lydelle, he
brandished a gun. So the officers backed out and called for SWAT officers.

Ron Kozoil, who lives across the street from Lydelle and his wife, Trisha,
watched from his front window in astonishment.

Police cordoned off his yard and others. Helicopters circled, and at least
10 cruisers rolled up.

"I felt like a hostage in my own home,'' Kozoil said.

He went outside when he saw Lydelle's wife, who told Kozoil that she was
confused about what was going on.

As Mrs. Lydelle huddled with neighbors, SWAT officers tried to coax her
husband out.

Unsuccessful in their attempts to negotiate, officers fired tear gas into
the house and charged in.

They found Lydelle dead in a bedroom and a handgun nearby.

"He was a good guy,'' Kozoil said. "It's going to be hard for Trish to move
on.''

The Lydelles have three children, neighbors said.

In 1994, Mr. Lydelle was featured in a Dispatch story after he paid for an
obituary in the paper, claiming he had died in Nashville, Tenn., at age 33.

The obituary raised the suspicions of Columbus detectives, who were looking
for Lydelle on charges involving identity and car theft. Detectives found
Lydelle living in a North Side motel under an assumed name.

He was later convicted of theft and forgery and served 13 months in prison.

develops software for devices that use fingerprint, facial and voice
recognition technology.

Biometrics are a big deal in the post 9-11 ultra security environment. A
recent Homeland Security plan coming from the White House calls for a
"border of the future" between Mexico and the United States that according
to an Aug. 5 American Forces Press Service story would "develop a state-
of-the-art visa system through which visitors are identified by biometric
information obtained during the visa application process."

Biometric software and hardware firms must be ecstatic at the prospects for
cashing in the implementation of the new Homeland Security regime. Surely
CompuSol must have this in mind. After all, it's a business.

The City of Austin is also a sponsor of this event. I wonder if the Mayor
and City Council know who they are in bed with.

With all the attention paid to the domestic war on terrorism and the dangers it poses to our liberties � the PATRIOT Act, the Department of Homeland Security, the TIPS program, and so forth � scant notice has been given to the United Nations� international anti-terrorism campaign. Yet below the American public�s radar screen, the UN Security Council�s new Counter-Terrorism Committee (CTC) is trying to achieve on an international scale what measures like the PATRIOT Act are doing domestically: expand the reach and power of government � in this case, the UN�s embryonic world government � in the name of fighting terrorism. And the potential consequences for U.S. liberty are dire indeed.

The Counter-Terrorism Committee was created by paragraph six of Security Council Resolution 1373, issued last September 28th in response to the September 11th attacks. The purpose of the CTC, in the words of 1373, is to "monitor implementation of this resolution." To allow the CTC to carry out this monitoring, UN member states are required to submit regular compliance reports to the CTC. The first round of such reports came in to the CTC from December 2001 through the early months of 2002 and, as we reported in the February 25th issue of The New American, the U.S. government was one of the first member states to submit its report on U.S. compliance with the Security Council�s new anti-terrorism guidelines. The U.S. report, dated December 19th, depicted the USA PATRIOT Act and other post 9-11 Bush initiatives as acts of compliance with UN demands in Resolution 1373.

This first report was worrisome enough, since it showed the degree to which U.S. officials are now willing to let UN authorities dictate terms to us. But now there�s more. After receiving the first report, the CTC sent a more detailed, focused list of inquiries to the U.S. government and demanded a response by June 15th. The second U.S. compliance report, submitted in response, is truly scary stuff.

Like the first report, the second is arranged as a series of responses to specific questions from the CTC on a range of domestic policies. The very first question pointedly asks: "Does the US have a specialist counter-terrorism body or is that the responsibility of a number of departments or agencies?" The report�s author meekly replies that the U.S. is now trying to create a Department of Homeland Security, a process that "will take time, especially since new legislation will be required." However, the report promises, "we will inform the CTC when these new changes are in place." In other words, the Bush administration considers the Department of Homeland Security an act of compliance with UN requirements, and will keep the UN informed of our progress. This kind of truckling to alleged UN authority speaks volumes about the Bush administration�s real attitude towards UN-centered internationalism, despite its occasional choreographed outbursts of anti-globalist rhetoric.

But there�s more. Further on in the U.S. report, the CTC asks whether "natural or legal persons other than banks (e.g., attorneys, notaries, or other intermediaries) [are] required to report suspicious transactions to the public authorities." The U.S. compliance report explains that the Bank Secrecy Act gives our government broad power to spy on its citizens via banks, savings and loans, credit unions, and even the U.S. Postal Service, adding that the new PATRIOT Act requires the Treasury to issue a rule "requiring broker-dealers to file suspicious activity reports." Responding to whether the United States has "any means of monitoring financial activities, in particular fund-raising, by non-governmental associations or organizations," the U.S. report gives UN officials a long and detailed explanation of the U.S. tax code and the powers it confers on the federal government to monitor and control the activities of nonprofit and charitable institutions.

Most alarming of all is a series sof questions that ought to give every American gun owner pause for thought. The CTC asks: "How does the United States control the establishment in its territory of paramilitary groups that have the potential to engage in terrorist activities?" Following that, under the heading "Weapons," the CTC presses the inquiry further: "What measures does the United States have to prevent terrorists [from] obtaining weapons in its territory, in particular small arms or light weapons? What is the United States legislation concerning the acquisition and possession of such weapons?" Following a long section in which the U.S. describes to UN officials the plethora of federal gun control laws on the books, the CTC asks: "Does the United States have any means of detecting at the local, as distinct from the national, level activities preparatory to a terrorist act? Are there agencies and procedures at the local level for monitoring sensitive activities, such as combat sports and shooting with light weapons, paramilitary training, the piloting of aircraft, biological laboratories, and the use of explosives for industrial purposes?" In other words, the UN would like to see our federal government empowered to keep tabs on local target shooters, private planes, and sundry other acts of potential "terrorist training."

The second U.S. report to the CTC is in response to areas that CTC bureaucrats have already identified as being of special concern, based on their reading of the first report submitted last December. And it should be crystal clear from the CTC�s line of questioning that two areas of state power are particularly important to the UN, at least where America is concerned: Powers of surveillance over every conceivable private activity, from financial transactions to target shooting; and gun control.

But the most frightening aspect of these dry reports is what they tell us about the post-September 11th relationship between the United States and the UN. UN officials have made no secret that they consider Resolution 1373 to be a turning point in the history of relations between the UN and member states. As paraphrased by a UN report, CTC chairman Jeremy Greenstock told the Security Council on June 27th that "the most important success of the Counter-Terrorism Committee to date was that it had directed widespread attention to the power of resolution 1373," and that "a broad range of international organizations and regional and subregional organizations were now aware that there was a global structure for countering terrorism, into which they should fit their activities.... The fact that the vast majority of Member States were now engaged with the Committee � and that all States recognized their responsibility to follow up resolution 1373 � was a massive change from the situation that had existed when the Committee was formed."

It�s one thing for UN functionaries to make claims like this; it�s quite another when our government agrees with them. At the same Security Council meeting, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations John Negroponte, responding to Greenstock�s comments, "reiterated the importance of all States abiding by their obligations under resolution 1373 � including the timely submission of reports. The second review would largely determine the impact that the Committee would have in the fight against terrorism." As described by the UN report, Negroponte added that "the resolution and the Committee had no time limits and would continue until the Council was satisfied with the resolution�s implementation."

And that�s the real heart of the matter. The CTC is designed to accrue power over time, as so-called "soft law" � the dense, vaguely committal jargon of international "protocols" and "resolutions." It then morphs into "hard law" � the brass-tacks reality of enforceable national and international statutes and regulations. As Greenstock himself has pointed out regarding the work of the CTC, "we believe that there may always be further work to do to meet the objectives of the resolution against a constantly evolving background.... [W]e will want all States to remain in close contact with the Committee, and to inform the CTC of any new developments which are relevant to the implementation of 1373."

What 1373 and the ongoing process of reporting to the CTC amount to is a never-ending sequence of reporting and reviewing, of subtle pressure brought to bear by the CTC against the U.S. to bring its laws into compliance with Security Council expectations. The second round of reviews currently under way is to be the stage where the CTC begins to ratchet up the pressure for "reforms"; in Greenstock�s words, "[during] the second review, the Committee intends to be more direct with the States in identifying gaps in the implementation of resolution 1373 and recommending appropriate action."

All of this might seem irrelevant to a nation gearing up for yet another war in the Middle East, and naively secure behind the military might of the "world�s only superpower." But power is only as certain as those who wield it, and all indications are that America�s political leadership is committed to further empowering the UN, by allowing and even encouraging it to dictate terms to us in the name of combating terrorism. The globalists are clearly hoping to entangle America in the pernicious precedent of obeying UN edicts and to further condition us to continue surrendering our sovereignty.

Sadly, many Americans see no harm in indulging the UN�s take-charge instincts, as long as we don�t see blue-helmeted troops swarming across the American landscape. But world government by overt conquest isn�t the UN�s game right now; world government by piecemeal, carefully-extracted consent is. Unfortunately for us, if we continue to allow our leaders to sell our sovereign birthright to the UN for the pottage of false security, the outcome will be the same as conquest by force.

Scientist's death haunts family

The death in 1953 of a government scientist, Frank Olson, in a fall
from a New York hotel window, is one of the most notorious cases in
CIA history.

Only in 1975 did Olson's family learn that the CIA had slipped LSD
into his drink, days before his death. President Ford apologized for
an experiment gone awry, and promised that the government would
reveal
everything about the case.

But newly obtained documents show that the Ford administration
continued to conceal information about Olson -- particularly his role
in some of the CIA's most controversial research of the Cold War, on
anthrax and other biological weapons.

The documents show that two of the key officials involved in the
decision to withhold that information were White House aides Dick
Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld, today the nation's vice president and
secretary of defense.

``These documents show the lengths to which the government was trying
to cover up the truth,'' said the scientist's son, Eric Olson, who
gave them to the Mercury News. ``For 22 years there was a coverup.
And
then, under the guise of revealing everything, there was a new
coverup.''

Rumsfeld's office referred questions about the withholding of
information to the CIA, where a media officer, Paul Nowack, said CIA
activities related to Frank Olson's death were investigated by the
Rockefeller Commission as well as subsequent congressional
committees.

``The CIA fully cooperated'' in those investigations, he said, and
``tens of thousands of documents were released.'' If anyone has new
information, he said, ``they should contact appropriate
authorities.''

Eric Olson has contended for years that his father was murdered to
cover up his research for the CIA. At a news conference in Maryland
today, he will reveal the results of his long inquiry into his
father's death.

The new documents do not prove those allegations. But they do show
that the White House officials were concerned about any public
revelation of Frank Olson's work.

Contrary to the official explanation that Frank Olson was an Army
scientist, Olson worked for the CIA, at the special-operations
division at Fort Detrick, the Maryland laboratory where biological
weapons were tested.

Classified research

Eric Olson said this week that a former colleague and friend of his
father's contacted him last year and described some of the closely
guarded work his father conducted.

He said the colleague told him his father was among scientists
studying the use of LSD and other drugs to enhance interrogations, as
Cold War tensions ran high and Americans feared that captured
soldiers
had been brainwashed in Korea.

In the months before his death, the colleague said, Frank Olson had
gone to Europe, where he observed the interrogation of former Nazis
and Soviet citizens at a secret U.S. base. And, the colleague said,
Frank Olson had knowledge of the U.S. biological weapons program.

Eric Olson contends that in the final days of his life, his father
became morally distraught over his work and decided to quit.
Personnel
records show that agency officials were concerned that he was a
security risk. Eric Olson believes that the thought of Frank Olson
quitting was a motive for the government to want him dead.

In 1993, Eric Olson arranged for his father's body to be unearthed
and
examined by a forensic scientist, James Starrs. Starrs concluded that
Frank Olson had probably been struck on the head and then thrown out
of the hotel window.

Starrs' conclusion is one of the tantalizing pieces that Eric Olson
has gathered to support his belief that his father was murdered.
Friday, satisfied that he has accomplished what he could, Olson
intends to rebury the remains of his father.

In late November 1953, Frank Olson, then 43, joined a group of
government officials at a conference at Deep Creek Lodge in western
Maryland. For days afterward, Olson was withdrawn. His son, Eric,
says
his father told his wife that he intended to quit his job.

But Frank Olson did not quit. And on Nov. 23 he went to New York with
another government official, where he twice visited Harold A.
Abramson, a doctor who was one of the first researchers to study the
effects of LSD.

Olson returned to Washington, then went back to New York on Nov. 28
and checked into the Statler Hotel. He was scheduled to enter a
sanitarium the next day.

But early in the morning of Nov. 29, Frank Olson went through the
window of the hotel room he was sharing with a colleague, Robert
Lashbrook. Lashbrook told police that he was awakened by the sound of
breaking glass.

The Olson family knew little else. But in 1975, a commission headed
by
Vice President Nelson Rockefeller issued a report on CIA abuses, and
an account in the Washington Post included a mention of an Army
scientist who jumped from a New York hotel room days after being
slipped LSD in 1953.

``We realized they were talking about my father,'' Eric Olson
recalled. Family members talked to reporters about their outrage and
said they would sue the government. Days later, the family was
invited
to the White House to meet President Ford. He assured them that they
would be given all information about what happened to Frank Olson.

Soon after, family members were invited to lunch with CIA Director
William Colby, who gave them a file of documents that amounted to the
CIA investigation into Olson's death. But the documents left many
questions unanswered about both his work and the circumstances of his
death.

The family was told that a lawsuit was unlikely to succeed. Instead,
the administration promised to support a private bill in Congress,
through which the family received $750,000 to resolve its claims.

``The express understanding was that the government had promised to
give us all information, which clearly meant information about his
work relationship with the CIA,'' the Olsons' attorney, David
Rudovsky
of Philadelphia, said this week. ``It now appears that was not the
case.''

Son finds clues

Over the years Eric Olson turned up many clues, real or coincidental.
There was, for example, the assassination manual that the CIA
declassified in connection with its Guatemala activities. The manual,
created in the early 1950s, identified ``the contrived accident'' as
``the most effective technique'' of secret assassination.

``The most efficient accident, in simple assassination, is a fall of
75 feet or more onto a hard surface,'' the manual stated.

Only recently Eric Olson obtained files from a University of
California-Davis history professor that showed White House officials
had intentionally withheld details of Frank Olson's death from the
family.

The professor, Kathryn Olmsted, came across the records at the Gerald
Ford library. They included a memo from Dick Cheney, a White House
assistant at the time, to Donald Rumsfeld, the chief of staff, on
July
11, 1975, one day after the Olsons first held a news conference.

The memo warned that a lawsuit could involve ``the possibility that
it
might be necessary to disclose highly classified national-security
information in connection with any court suit or legislative hearings
on a private bill.''

The documents also include memos written by White House counsel
Roderick Hills to the president that were routed through Cheney and
other officials. ``Dr. Olson's job is so sensitive that it is highly
unlikely that we would submit relevant evidence'' to a court, Hills
wrote, regarding a potential suit by the Olson family.

``If there is a trial, it is apparent that the Olsons' lawyer will
seek to explore all of the circumstances of Dr. Olson's employment as
well as those concerning his death. Thus, in the trial it may become
apparent that we are concealing evidence for national-security
reasons
and any settlement or judgment reached thereafter could be perceived
as money paid to cover up the activities of the CIA.''

As a result, Hills urged settling the case out of court.

The peacefulness England used to enjoy was not the result of strict gun laws. When it had no firearms restrictions England had little violent crime, while the present extraordinarily stringent gun controls have not stopped the increase in violence or even the increase in armed violence. By opting to deprive law-abiding citizens of the right to keep guns or to carry any article for defence, English government policy may actually be contributing to the lawlessness and violence afflicting its people.

Lessons From History
(Malcolm) has demonstrated that the history of English gun control does not support the commonly made claim that English crime rates were (formerly) lower in England because of stricter gun controls. The rise in English crime has coincided with the growth of governmental intrusiveness where firearms are concerned.

[Unfortunately, undoubtedly true. Regardless of which party happens to be in power at the moment. This however, is not a conspiracy in the intended sense. It is the operation of the "old boys" club. The wealthy looking out for the wealthy. And they do indeed control everything. From large contributions to the political parties, to the corporations, to the media. Oftentimes (usually) even the churches. The control is subtle however. If one does not hold the "right" ideas, they simply do not get promoted or funded. There is no obvious pledge of allegiance that one has to make. In the media for example, a publisher that thinks wrongly just will not get funding. An editor that thinks wrongly will just not get hired. By the time we get down to the cub reporter every attitude is so ingrained that nothing that truly questions the institutions will be seriously considered. This is as true under every system. Capitalism, Communism, Naziism, Catholicism, Judaism, you name it. It is a human problem. The first thing in human history to perhaps offer a break of the iron box has been the Internet, and there are those who are seeking to control it. At the invention of the printing press, there were many concerned about the spread of literacy to the masses. They need not have worried. Ways were found to control the media, as we have just seen. Will the same happen to the web?]

[Most world leaders and statesmen, yes like Senator Jesse Helms, one of the most vocal opponents of the New World Order, Chairman of the US Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, dedicated anti-Communistic, devoted defender of the military, and seeming advocate of evermore military spending, coming from the industrial / military complex, still understands the threat to democracy wrought by the "financial powers and interests". The problem is that they offer no alternative solution to the nuclear threat.]

A secret that could destroy the CIA

Dr. Frank Olson's life was a mystery, full of dubious experiments for the CIA, and unexplained trips to Porton Down. His death, in 1953, was stranger still. Was it suicide? A failed exercise in brainwashing? Or murder? And what did he know that made his death so convenient? Next week, a grand jury may finally hear the truth about the Cold War's darkest Secret.

In the early hours of 28 November 1953, Armand Pastore, the night manager of the Statler Hotel, New York, was startled to hear a crash of breaking glass and then a sickening thump on the pavement outside his hotel. He rushed out to find a middle-aged man lying semi-conscious on the ground.

Pastore looked up to see light shining from a shattered window of a room on the hotel�s thirteenth floor. He knelt down alongside the man, cradled his head in his arms and leaned closer as the man made an effort to speak, then died. He had obviously jumped out of the window, just another suicide in a city where the plunge from skyscraper to pavement was a shocking but not unusual event.

Suicide was certainly the finding at the inquest�Dr Frank Olson, a United States Army scientist, for reasons no one could fathom, had taken his own life. And that was what the record showed for the next twenty-two years.

Then in 1975 the Rockefeller Commission, set up by President Ford to examine the extent of the CIA�s illegal domestic operations, revealed that an unnamed army scientist had died after CIA experts, experimenting with mind-bending drugs, had secretly slipped him a dose of potent LSD. During the ensuing uproar, the scientist was identified as Frank Olson.

The US government moved immediately to show how sorry it was for what had happened. Congress passed a private humanitarian relief bill which authorised a payment of $750,000 to the widow, Mrs Olson, and her three children. Mrs Olson and her son Eric were invited to the White House where President Ford publicly apologised to them. And the then CIA director, William Colby, held a lunch for Mrs Olson and Eric in his office at the CIA, apologised and gave them the CIA file on the case.

According to the file, Olson had suffered a �chemically-induced psychotic flashback� a week after he had been slipped the dose of LSD. So a CIA doctor, Richard Lashbrook, had been deputed to look after Olson until he was normal again. Lashbrook had been sharing the hotel room with Olson and was asleep in a bed next to him when, he said, he was awoken by the sound of breaking glass and realised that Olson had crashed through the window.

Eric, who is now 54,was never very convinced by this version of events but kept quiet so as not to distress his mother. Then when she died in 1994 he decided to test the official story of his father�s death. Experts told him that in order to achieve the momentum needed to vault over a central heating radiator under the window, burst through the closed blinds and smash through the hotel�s heavy glass panes, Olson would have had to struck the window travelling at more than 30km per hour. A trained athlete takes about fifty metres to accelerate to that speed. But the hotel room was only 5.5 metres long.

Next there was Dr. Lashbrook�s strange behaviour when the hotel manager Pastore arrived in the room to tell him that his colleague was dead on the pavement below. Lashbrook went to the telephone, rang a number and simply said, �Olson�s gone�. Then he hung up and retired to the bathroom where he sat on the lavatory with his head in his hands.

Eric Olson, a Maryland clinical psychologist, began to spend every spare moment trying to get at the true story of what had happened to his father. Today he is convinced he is on the brink of doing so. But the story is so strange, so reminiscent of the TV series �The X-Files,� that despite compelling evidence, it is uncertain that anyone will believe it.

THE TERMS of the $750,000 government settlement for Olson�s death prevented his family from pursuing the matter in the civil courts. But if Eric Olson could convince the authorities that his father�s death was a criminal matter, then he might eventually get at the truth. Four years ago he had his first breakthrough when he won a court order to exhume his father�s body.

�When he was buried the coffin had been sealed. They said he had been so badly mutilated in the fall that it wouldn�t be right for the family to see him. But when we opened the casket a lifetime later, I knew Daddy at once. He had been embalmed and his face was unmarked and untroubled. He hadn�t been hurt the way they said he had.�

A new autopsy confirmed Eric Olson's impression and entirely contradicted the findings of the first inquest. Carried out by a team led by James Starrs, Professor of Law and Forensic Science at The National Law Centre, George Washington University, it could find no sign of the cuts and abrasions that the first autopsy said had been caused by crashing through the window glass.

On the other hand, there was a haematoma, unrecorded at the first post mortem examination, on the left hand side of Olson�s skull. This had been caused by a heavy blow, James Starrs decided, probably from a hammer, before the fall from the window. Starrs and his team concluded that the evidence from their examination was �rankly and starkly suggestive of homicide.�

Although the team did not say so�because it could be only supposition�someone had struck Olson on the head with a hammer, smashed open the window, probably with the same hammer, and had then thrown Olson out. But the new autopsy findings were certainly enough for a New York public prosecutor, Stephen Saracco, to win the right for a grand jury to begin hearing the evidence he had uncovered. If the jury, too, found the evidence of murder compelling, then Saracco requested that it should hand down indictments for murder and conspiracy to murder.

Saracco, an ambitious, aggressive lawyer with no fear about taking on the American establishment, says that the men he wants named in the indictments will include some of America�s most respected CIA veterans and, if the grand jury agrees to his request to widen his investigations, former officers of the British Secret Intelligence and Security Services as well.

Already there are indications that the international intelligence community is running scared. The CIA and the Department of Justice have resisted Saracco 's attempts to subpoena Dr. Lashbrook, who now lives in California, to question him, among other things, about Olson�s last hours, the telephone call that Lashbrook made immediately after Olson's death and the work that Lashbrook and Olson had been engaged in together.

Early in July, after months of negotiation, the two government departments gave in and agreed that the grand jury should hear Saracco's team examine Lashbrook at Venture County Courthouse during the week beginning 24 August. Saracco has already offered Lashbrook immunity from prosecution in return for his testimony. He was too late, however, to do the same for William Colby, the CIA chief who apologised for Olson�s death.

On 27 April 1996, after Saracco won the right to a grand jury hearing, Colby who realised that he would be forced to give evidence, vanished from his country retreat about forty miles south of Washington. It looked as if he had left in a hurry: the lights and the radio were still on, his computer was still running, and a half finished glass of wine was on the table. The next day his empty canoe was found swamped on a sand bar. Five days later divers found a body identified as Colby�s. He had apparently been the victim of a boating accident.

If so, it would appear that Maryland waters are particularly unkind to retired members of the CIA. In 1978 another CIA officer, John Paisley, also vaanished there in another boating accident. A week after Paisley�s abandoned boat was located, a body with a gunshot wound to the head was found. But the condition of the body meant that precise identification was impossible�making the area a conspiracy blackspot.

Suppose the grand jury does in the end find that the evidence that Olson was murdered and that the perpetrators were other CIA officers, there will still remain a major barrier to an eventual conviction--what was the motive? What was so sensitive to the CIA that it would kill one of its own? To find an answer we have to go back to the fifties when the two great ideologies of the 20th century, communism and capitalism, were locked in a battle to the death and no act no matter how morally shocking was ruled out in the struggle for victory.

THE NUCLEAR stand-off of the Cold War had sent both sides back to their drawing boards. If it were impossible to employ nuclear weapons without assuring mutual total destruction, what other weapons could the boffins come up with�given virtually unlimited funds and no moral restraints�that would win any future war? Two possibilities attracted attention. The first was bacteriological warfare.

Bacteriological warfare is remarkably cheap; it has been described as �the poor man�s nuclear bomb.� A deadly virus sufficient to wipe out every living person over an area of one square mile would cost only about $50. In the 1950s both sides in the Cold War set up research establishments to develop biological weapons, methods of delivering them, and methods of protecting against them. Dr. Frank Olson worked in this area.

Trained as a biochemist, he had been employed since 1943 in the Special Operations Division at Fort Detrick, Maryland, was associated with a CIA secret research unit known at the time as MK-ULTRA, and came to Britain frequently between 1950-53 to work at the British Microbiological Research Establishment (MRE) at Porton Down. Olson was part of a team which was developing aerosol delivery systems for biological weapons that included staphylococcus enterotoxin, Venezuelan equine encephalo- myelitis, and anthrax. Olson seems to have concentrated on counter- biological warfare, trying to find vaccines and special clothing that would protect against attack.

Deadly effective though it may be, biological warfare has drawbacks. There is always the risk that it may get out of control and attack not only the enemy but those who decided to employ it in the first place. Like nuclear warfare, biological warfare could wipe out civilisation as we know it. So Olson and some of his colleagues became intrigued by another type of weapon altogether, one which attacked not the body but the mind.

Those scientists in the Western intelligence community who supported the idea of developing brain-washing programmes had two gurus�Dr Douglas Ewan Cameron, a Glasgow-born psychiatrist, and Dr. Sydney �The Gimp� Gottlieb, the CIA�s top expert on brainwashing. Cameron won his post-graduate diploma in psychiatric medicine at the University of London before joining the staff at John Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, in 1926. He became convinced that the mentally ill posed a grave threat to Anglo-American civilisation and should be forcibly sterilised.

During the Second World War he was a member of the Military Mobilization Committee of the American Psychiatric Association and was appalled to learn that of the fifteen million men inducted into the US armed forces, two million had to be rejected on neuropsychiatric grounds, a proportion far higher than in any other nation. He set about finding remedies including electroshock (60,000 ECTs in a single year), lobotomies and other forms of psychosurgery, sensory deprivation and mind-altering drugs--all used on patients who had little or no say in their treatment. Conscientious objectors, many of them Quakers, were defined by Cameron as mentally-ill and sometimes forced to accept treatment.

When the end of the war revealed that the Nazis had been carrying out similar experiments�23 German doctors were convicted at Nuremberg�the Western intelligence community suddenly became very interested in Cameron�s work. This interest grew to an obsession after the Stalin show trials with the robotic, apparently artificially-induced confessions made by the accused. Then the behaviour of American POWs held in Chinese camps during the Korean War and their subsequent denunciation of the American way of life, futher convinced the CIA that the communists were already well advanced in mind control techniques. In intelligence circles there were rumours of a Soviet plot to place brain-washed zombies in the White House and other citadels of Western power.

The American response was MK-ULTRA. Its director, Dr. Gottleib, sought help from his Scottish hero, Cameron, and set him up with cover organisations to distance the CIA from some of the more abbhorent aspects of MK-ULTRA�s work. So Cameron founded the Society for the Investigation of Human Ecology, ran a proprietary company called Psychological Assessment Associates, and contributed papers to learned journals on �Psychic Driving�, �The Restructuring of the Personality� and �Suggestion and Extra-Sensory Perception.�

The short term goals were to counter any communist plot to insert brain-washed assassins into the West. However, according to authors Gerald Colby and Charlotte Dennett, biographers of Nelson Rockefeller�one-time chairman of a committee overseeing the MK-ULTRA operation�the scientists also wanted to find drugs or techniques by which �a man could be surreptitiously drugged through the medium of an alcoholic cocktail at a social party . . . and the subject induced to perform the act of attempted assassination of an official in a government in which he was well-established socially and politically.�

A far-fetched ides, perhaps, but one whose currency was not limited to the CIA. A few years later, the surreptitious administration of a mind-altering drug in a drink at a party was suggested as a possible solution to a strange double death in Sidney, Australia. On the morning of January 1, 1963, Dr. Gilbert Bogel, and his lover, Mrs. Margaret Chandler, were found dead on a river bank after a riotous party given by staff of the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization. Bogle, a brilliant scientist, had told friends that he was about to go to the US to work on scientific research of great military importance. The deaths were never solved, but Sydney detectives became convinced that Bogle and his colleagues had been experimenting with LSD and the effect it produced on their thought-processes�the invitation to the New Year's party required each guest to bring a painting done under the influenced of the drug�and their either by accident or by design someone had slipped the couple what turned out to be an overdose.

Repeated requests to the BBI under the Freedom of Information Act asking for details of the work that Boigle would have been doing in the US have met with refusal on the grounds of national security. But the speculation is irresistible that it might have involved experiments in mind control similar to those that Olson had worked on.

The long-term aim of these experiments with mind-altering drugs is thought by those who have studied the MK-ULTRA programme to have been to ensure the dominance of Anglo-American civilisation in the �war of all against all�the key to evolutionary success.� Brain-washing would be used not only to defeat the enemy but to ensure compliance and loyalty of one's own population.

Where did Dr. Olson fit into all this? A Harley Street psychiatrist, Dr. William Sargant, now dead, was sent by the British goverment in the early 1950s to evaluate MK-ULTRA. On his return he told a colleague and friend, former BBC television producer, Gordon Thomas, that what Cameron and Gottlieb were up to was as bad as anything going on in the Soviet gulags.

Thomas, whose books include a 1988 study of the CIA's forays into mind-control, Journey into Madness: Medical Torture and the Mind Controllers, says �Sargant told me that he had urged the British government to distance this country from it. He said it was blacker than black.� According to Thomas, Sargant told him that Frank Olson had come to Britain between 1950-53 to work on attachment at Porton Down and had also made frequent visits to �an intelligence facility� in Sussex. This is confirmed by entries in the special passport that Olson used.

The stamps on the passport, which declare that the bearer was on �official business for the Department of the Army� indicate a pattern of travel that took Olson between various British military airfields, France, Occupied Germany, Scandanavia and the United States between May 1950 and August 1953. Prosecuting attorney Saracco believes that something happened on one of these trips that holds the key to Olson�s death. Since the matter is still before a grand jury Saracco cannot talk about it but Gordon Thomas has his own idea of what it was. �The CIA was using German SS prisoners and Norwegian Quislings [collaborators] taken from jails and detention centres as guinea pigs to test Cameron�s theories about mind control. The agency preferred to conduct such clinical trials outside the United States because sometimes they were terminal�the human guinea pig ended up dead. Olson was accustomed to seeing lethal experiments done on animals but when human beings were used in this way it was too much for him. I believe that he wanted out.�

Mike Miniccino, an American businessman and historical researcher who has spent 25 years studying the MK-ULTRA programme and developing a database on its activities says that if Olson expressed doubts about MK-ULTRA and its work then he would have done so to William Sargant, the Harley Street psychiatrist, who had evaluated MK-ULTRA�s work and who had been a close colleague of Olson�s.

And although�as we already know�Sargant wanted the British government to distance itself from the CIA�s work with MK-ULTRA, Miniccino says he nevertheless was committed to the principle of mind control and became the link between the British Secret Intelligence Service and MK-ULTRA. Miniccino adds, �So if Frank Olson expressed serious doubts about the MK-ULTRA project to Sargant, then he signed his own death warrant.�

What Miniccino is implying and what public prosecutor Saracco wants to prove is that the MK-ULTRA mind control project�with its clinical trials on unsuspecting human beings�was such a sensitive issue with the western intelligence community that it would go to any lengths to prevent an insider like Olson, from blowing the whistle.

Is this, then, what happened? Did Olson tell the British psychiatrist/SIS agent Sargant that he wanted out of the mind-control project, and that his conscience might compel him to reveal publicly what the intelligence services had been doing? Did Sargant then pass this on to SIS, who in turn told the CIA? Was a decision then taken to make certain that Olson never talked by destroying his memory with drugs and, when this failed, by murdering him and making it look like a suicide?

Apart from the evidence set out earlier, there is another compelling fact that supports this theory. Until Mrs Olson died in 1993, a regular visitor at her house was Olson�s former boss in Special Operations, Vincent Ruwet. Ruwet would spent long-daytime hours with Mrs Olson. The two would drink together at her house (Mrs. Olson became an alcoholic) while Ruwet listened to the problems she faced in bringing up her three fatherless children. Everyone considered him to be a sympathetic family friend. But newly-discovered documents reveal that Vincent Ruwet had been assigned by the CIA to �keep track of the wife.�. If Olson was a threat because of what he knew, and knowledge can be passed on, then the CIA would have to spy on all those who had been close to him in case he had told them the truth about MK-ULTRA? THE CIA has always maintained as a matter of historical record that it has never murdered an American citizen on American soil. If, as a result of Eric Olson's persistence in trying to uncover what really happened to his father, and the investigating skills of public prosecutor Saracco, this turns out to be a lie, it could well be the beginning of the end of the agency.

Eric Olson says, �The Cold War is over and there are now ongoing national debates about the future of the CIA and about unethical medical testing on humans. My father's case covers both. The use of hallucinogens, hypnosis, electroshock and other procedures in an attempt to control the way people behave was the CIA�s equivalent of the Manhattan [atom bomb] Project. MK-ULTRA was secret, shocking and incredibly dangerous. They couldn�t afford to take the risk of letting my father continue to be involved or, considering all he knew, allowing him to quit. So he was terminated instead. My father's murder crossed a line in the sand which the U.S. government has always publicly respected. The guilty ones will not be allowed to get away with it.� Or as Fox Mulder would say, �The truth is out there.�

I wanted to email you to let you know about an
experience I had recently that opened my eyes. I am
currently employed by the US Government as an
intelligence analyst and felt I was doing my part on
our "war on terrorism", until these past few months.
My brother recently purchased a copy of your video,
"9-11 The Road to Tyranny", and insisted I watch it.
Although the entire video was disturbing, I was
especially remembered the segment which showed police
officers sitting in a classroom and being told how our
founding fathers were terrorists. I partially
dismissed it as taken out of context until the
experience I just had. The agency I work just sent me
to a week long course titled, "Dynamics of Terrorism"
which was hosted by the DOD Polygraph Institute. The
first day of the course began in a usual manner with
the instructors (two of them) introducing themselves
and discussing thier backgrounds. They were both NSA.
Then began a week long introduction into what the FBI,
NSA and our government classify as terrorism these
days. Here's a condensed list; The teens who committed
the school shooting at Columbine, The Branch
Davidians, Randy Weaver, the Founding Fathers,
Computer Hackers, Militias, anyone who commits a "Hate
Crime", and especially anyone who does not trust our
government. I couldn't believe what I hearing, it was
almost verbatim out of your video. From what I could
tell several of the cops were having a hard time with
the course, except for the bureau boys, who seemed to
be lapping it up. Just wanted to let you know about
this and to say that you have just gained another
supporter.

Good afternoon Mr. Jones. I am a 21 year old student living in downtown Portland, Oregon that belives strongly in the content of your website. I detest Pres. Bush and all evil that he represents. On his recent visit to Portland, I decided to join the PEACEFUL protest and voice my opinions. There were around 1000 people gathered there and everything was peaceful until the 300+ police in full riot gear decided it was nessecary to move the barricade back less than half a block with no announcment. As we started moving back, the police started soaking us with pepper spray and striking people with their batons. I was hit with a direct blast of pepper spray witch made me vomit and cough and gag un-controably. As I turned to leave the area, I was attacked with a "less-than-lethal" rubber round in the back of my right leg. This resulted in punching a hole in my muscle and ripped my skin, leaving a huge bruise and a large, round sore on my leg. I am not sure weither or not to report the incident, due to the fact I am sure what the response would be. In short I am writing this letter to get your advice and alert you to the un-provoked attack made on peaceful protesters and media crews. If you could find the time, please respond and let me know what you think and if you could maybe help me spread awareness of what happened in Portland, Oregon.

Although i had thought to myself that the American Govt was behind the instigation of the Sept 11 attacks, i never could put the pieces together and figure out why. Here in Australia we think that nothing like that could ever happen to us, but with the way our Prime Minister is schmoozing with Bush, i can see that it is inevitable.

My son just telephoned me from Addison TX which is a part of the Dallas metroplex. He said "mom do you know what (little girl's name) (his 4 yr old, who will be 5 Xmas day) just asked me?" I told him no! My son said that she just asked him if they had guns in the house??

Finally he was able to get her to tell him that they had asked her that at her day care in Richardson, TX. He told his daughter to tell them "daddy said it is none of your business!!" I think he may confront this school tomorrow.
