The Embroiderer's Guild of America is a nonprofit organization devoted to education in the needle arts. Interested individuals, regardless of their expertise, are welcome at meetings, but are urged to become members after attending twice. Members are offered lectures and workshops by needle artists, regional and national seminars, individual and group correspondence courses, a chapter newsletter and Needle Arts, a magazine published by the national organization.
Dues are $55 per year for regular members, $15 for plural members in Great Lakes Region and $18 for plural members outside the Great Lakes Region.
The General Meetings of the Indianapolis Chapter are held on the second Monday of the month at 9:30 a.m. at the Pleasant View Lutheran Church, 801 W. 73rd Street, in Indianapolis. The Greenwood Night Stitchers meet on the second Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the Arms Building in Greenwood Village South, in Greenwood. Sew & Sews are informal gatherings, held in members’ homes, that provide an opportunity to stitch, get help and get acquainted. Sampler Interest Group is much like Sew & Sews, but for those interested in samplers.
Programs during the 2011 calendar year cover a variety of needlework styles. These include specialty stitches, canvas work, and bobbin lace. Members are encouraged to attend and "think outside the box".
