The Electronic Panchayat

Welcome to the Electronic Panchayat - the debate and discussion forum of the India Policy Institute (IPI).

History: This started on 8 April 1998 as "india_policy", a majordomo mailing list. One of the main outputs of the debates was the People's Manifesto.

The debates converted into a Yahoo Group in 2002 and have sporadically grown and shrunk since then. Currently (in 2009) these is not very active, and there is no intention to activate them significantly. However, should you have something of interest to say in relation to India's policies, please do so.

Please note that this is a moderated group. All messages that:

i) are not related to India
ii) are not customised to the IPI audience
iii) are advertisements
iv) are simply a "cut and paste" of news articles (without detailed comment)
v) contain anything but the most polite language

are simply deleted, and if repeated, the member banned. All other messages will go through. All opinions are welcome. The goal is to debate issues and make a difference on the ground.
