Hi All,

I have one question. I just got my COPR (Confirmation of PR). When we
apply the PR, we still have no baby. But when we get the COPR, my wife in her
4 months of pregnancy and she want to give a birth at his own country.

The question is : If I go to Montreal first (as the main applicant), and
then my wife will go after her pregnancy. Is it possible or not for the
main applicant to land first.. and the wife landed after her pregnancy.

I just want to know the possibilies for the main applicant landed first,
because the spouse is pregnant. Or if you have any advice, I will be
apreciate.

   Regards
   Lion

Dear all,

I applied in September 2005 for the CSQ. And I just discovered that
they sent me an email dated May 29, 2007 requiring some missing
documents (Work Certificate and Sociale Assurance certificate). I
beleive I sent the work certificate and there was no need back then
for the Social assurance.

Anyway, I would like to know from anyone who had his CSQ from
Damascus office what was the format of his successful "work
experience certificate". I can only assume that I miss-understood the
needed information. So please could anyone succeeded in having his
CSQ send the information included in his Work Certificate?

They need these information urgently as I passed the 90 days they
gave me at their mail on May 29, 2007.

Also if anyone lives in Egypt or somewhere else, what is the Social
Assurance certificate that is needed? They said something about CNSS,
Does anyone know what is this?

Thanks for anyone who can help,
Sameh

In case u r from Egypt , I guess the Social Assurance Certificate , is a
certificate that u get to prove ur marital status. the certificate should
include all the names of ur brothers and sisters , ur sons/daughters if u
have any , ur wife if u have any , and ur parents.
I tried to get it once in 2004 and "2etfasha7't" , cos actually most of the
clerks ( in the ministry ) don't know either what is it.

However, I would recommend that u go for a lawyer and consult him, or make
sure of the information I gave u and visit ur "Segel Madani" to know how to
extract that document.

Hi Yaqeen, everybody
Thanks for your reply, I also got this "Shehadet Keed 3a2ely" once and
it was horrible too :)
But I think I did a mistake by translating the French term "assurance
sociale" to Social Assurance, I should have translated it to "Social
Insurance" instead. They also mentioned that they need to specify in
it the movement of the worker, do you think this is the "Ta2meenat"?

However, it is more important now to get the right form of the Work
Certificate. What I need friends is only the format (Name, Company,
Date in, ...), not your personal information ( Edward, IBM, 7/2004, ...).

Any help will be very appreciated.
Thanks,
Sameh

Hey Paty,

I also plan to move in May and I'm still hesitant
about driving my own car up. If it were a little more
reliable I wouldn't mind keeping it so I'll most
likely sell it and rent a U-Haul van to carry my stuff
with.

Many people have mixed opinions about it but the
majority I've heard from say that cars are cheaper in
the US and also cars in Canada get worn much quicker
due to the harsh weather conditions, salt on the roads
etc. Some exaggerators even state that a 3 year old
car in Canada is equivalent to a 10 year old one in
the US in terms of wear and tear.

I saved an old post from somebody who'd shared their
experience on importing a car to Canada from the US.
I've copied it below. Hope this helps and good luck
with your move.

cheers

Rice.

[BEGIN FORWARDED MESSAGE]
Hi Denis,

If you currently like your car, I'd recommend you to
keep it when moving to Canada. Usually, you lose money
when selling a good car and buying another one.
I brought my car from US and I had to take it through
importation process.
Its not too painful. At least it wasnt for me.Here
goes the list of documents you'd need to export car
from US and import it into Canada:
1. Vehicle title
2. Recall clearence letter - a letter from
manufacturer or dealer of car stating that all recalls
on specified car are complete

First of all, it is necessary to possess the title of
the car. In case if it still belongs to bank (credit
not paid fully) you would first have to get the
permission from bank to take car out of country and
get the title of the car as well from them.
Next step is to inform US customs that car is going to
be exported. In few websites describing exportation
procedure I saw people mentioning that one can fax the
car title copy to the US port of entry 3-4 days prior
to exportation. HOWEVER, that is NOT what US customs
officers told me on the border. They told me that I
have to present actual title at the border post so
they could stamp it and take a copy of it 4 days
before the exportation. After stamping car has to stay
in US for 4 days before actually leaving. I was lucky
to ask them this question when was coming back from
Canada couple weeks before moving there for good and I
had car title with myself. They took copy of it and
stamped it and I was clear to go when arrived to same
border post 15 days later. They just put a special
stamp on title and thats all.

Now, you have to import the vehicle into Canada.
Canadian customs officer verifies that car is properly
exported from US and gives you 2 forms. You will have
to pay about 200 canadan dollars of importation fee at
this moment (credit card is good enough). You can
drive the car inside Canada now.
But things are not over yet, there are 2 inspections
to pass.
First, you car must be taken to Canadian Tire where
they will conduct federal inspection of it. This is
free of charge. In Canada all cars are supposed to
have Daytime Running Lights (DRL). If your car has no
DRL, you would have to install it, costs about 120$.
There
might be other modfications you car could need - at
Canadian Tire they will tell you what exactly needs to
be done with car. I would recommend to take your car
to the exact dealer of car (Honda service center for
Honda's for example) cause they know how to do hose
modifications right.
After installing DRL take the car to Canadian Tire,
they will do the federal inspection and stamp your
Form 2 with "Passed" stamp. Now you need to get a
canadian license plate. I dont know how that works in
other provinces, but in Quebec you need to take car to
provincial inspection first. Any CAA (Canadian
Automobilists
Association - version of AAA) can do that for you for
70$. After inspection they issue you a positive
inspection form which you would have to take to SAAQ
in Quebec (equivalent of registry of motor vehicles).
There they will issue you a license plate right on
spot. By the way, registration in Quebec is expensive
- costs around 270$ a year.
Roughly, it took me about a week to complete all these
procedures.

Karen

it means that now they are checking documents which submitted in Sep
2007 if you calculate the number of months between sep 2007 till now
( march 2008 ) you can estimate when will be your interview

Hi all,

I landed in Montreal 8 months ago and became a PR of Canada, but I had
to leave Canada after a few weeks and I currently live outside of
Canada. My CSQ will expire soon but I would like to return to Quebec
in a few months after settling a few issues.

My questions are about CSQ. Is it possible to renew a CSQ after
becoming a PR of Canada? If yes how? If no will it be possible for me
to remain a Quebec resident after expiration of my CSQ? Finally if I
will go on to be a Quebec resident but I will not have a CSQ how can I
benefit from the rights given to Quebec residents after I return to
Quebec? (like health insurance, reduced tuiton etc.)

Thank you very much for sharing your experiences,

Sabine

Once you become a PR of Canada, it is irrelevant when the CSQ expires. You can
return to Canada (Quebec or any other province) anytime you wish as long as you
meet the residency requirements.

Hi everyone,

I'm about to send in the Application for Selection Certificate (CSQ) but I
have a question.

A friend of mine has her own company in Montreal and is prepared to offer me
a job. I'm afraid that it is next to impossible to get it validated by the
Ministère de l'Immigration et des Communautés Culturelles because it does
not meet all the requirements for validation (in short: it's not the type of
job that would be hard to fill with someone local).

Will I still be awarded some credit for the fact that I do have a job offer,
even if it is not a validated one?
(I did fill this out in the immigration evaluation forum I submitted online,
and was told I would be a suitable candidate)

Also, if by some miracle we did find a way around that particular
requirement (her business does meet all the other requirements), does this
speed up the immigration process at all?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Regards,
Kate

Can someone share their landing experience upon arrival at Montreal
airport? I understand that newly arrived immigrants have to make an
appointment to see an integration office, is that right?

I don't know about airport landing, I did mine by road from the US 2 weeks ago.
Whatever the case, make sure you call MICC(Ministere de l'Immigration) upon your
arrival at 514 864-9191 and make an appointment to attend an information session
for newly arrived immigrants - I'm pretty sure this is what the airport quebec
immigration office people will help you do. During the session, you'll get
registered to attend other important information sessions (socio-economic
reality, entrevue individuelle d'accompagnement, conduites culturelles en emploi
etc).

good luck with your move!

Upon landing in Quebec, is it mandatory to meet up with an integration
officer / attend group sharing session?

I do not think it's mandatory but it's highly recommended and free. You get a
lot of worthwhile information, addresses to all other organisations offering
help to CSQ landed immigrants, you also get registered to other information
sessions on how to find a job, housing etc. If for some reason you do not wish
to attend the sessions right away, you can still call them anytime during your
first 5 years in Quebec and attend.

cheers
