Dear manoj,
If you are aiming for interview waiver
you should aim for 7 in each band.
this should give you a very good score
in your language section during your points
    evaluation andf might substantially increase
your chances of an interview waiver to the
    maximum.

think about it this way.. this is the only
test which the canadian high commission believes
The other things such as education, experience
etc can all be widely different and there is no
    concrete basis to evaluate them.

i think even during the interview one of
their intention might be to evaluate you
     competency in english.

in my case it even gave me a quick inital
screening. otherwise my screening was pending
since Aug 2000. i gave ielts in jan 2003
and got waiver in march 2003.

    hope this helps.
    .V

Hi,
In my application (common-law, applying from inside Canada), I'm
including all my kids as accompanying children. They are abroad right
now. However, while the older ones are able to wait in the home
country for the process to be complete,I would like the youngest one
to come to stay with me from before I submit the PR application.

Do you think that this plan (one kid with me, the others abroad)
could complicate/delay the processing of the inland application?

Please, tell me what do you think would be the best way.

Many many thank yous in advance :)

done .Has anyone used the services of canam consultants. If not which
other consultant have anyone been in contact with .The total expense
i'm incurring is 1 lac 15 thousand , this includes IELTS test
coaching and exams and this excludes the 19,000 and 32,000 for CHC.

from my group also have successfully reached CANADA. The fees will be 65K
Consultant + 19K Canadian High Commission + etc.. = 1.20K around.. So its
fine... as per me... I have applied through OSCAN immigration - Pune.. If you
want to contact them then tell me i will mail back to you with contact

hello sparkfusion,

Nice to hear from you .Just submitted my papers so i'm thinking there is a long
wait ahead. But the consultant did say that the CHC is opening processing centers
at channai and bangalore , so there might just be that chance of processing
happening quicker .Till hoping the IELTS test goes well and get a 7 band score.

Now will be going along with this consultant .Don't want to change , will
prolong the process unnecessarily. What are ur experiences with the immigration
process, any pointers to the interview if it happens?
By the way sparkfusion are u immigrting to a relative over there or will it be a
new country to u too.

Subject: Canadian passport stamps, anyone?
michaud_fran...

Hi guys!

I'm collecting Canadian passport stamps. I already have
quite a few, but I always need more! :)

Call me crazy, but I'm also trying to find a pattern to the
"mysterious two numbers" below and above the date in the
stamp.

For example, 214/351 in

----------------------
Canada Customs/Douanes
214
Date
St-Bernard De Lacolle
351
----------------------

or 110/478 in

----------------------
Canada Customs/Douanes
110
Date
Fort Frances
478
----------------------

or 81/431 in

----------------------
Canada Customs/Douanes
81
Date
O.I.A/A.I.O
431
----------------------

or 1150/497 in

----------------------
Canada Customs/Douanes
1150
Date
P.I.A/A.I.P
497
----------------------

Does anyone know what these numbers mean?

If you have Canadian entry stamps in your passport,
please scan and e-mail them, or at least e-mail the
information in the stamps (the two numbers, port of
entry and date)

Thank you!

Francois

Hello,

If you have applied for Inland sponsorship, it will be
some time before you receive an initial letter
indicating your sponsorship application has met the
requirements. It is longer when applying in Canada.
This delay is not unusual nor a couple of month
longer.

Hope this is informative,

Hi Prasant,

To get good scores in IELTS Test you need to know the
pattern with some practice as during the exam you
might miss out on some questions(The major limiting
factor is Time). And therefore might not be able to
score good even though, in reality your English is
Good. I would personally say, that IELTS is just not a
test for English, rather a test for your psychological
skills too...

Please spend some time on the follwoing sites and you
may get some free Info for IELTS.

Dear Prashant,

In my opinion, the best and cheapest way to prepare for IELTS is to
visit British Council Library for at least one and half months daily
and do practice tests available there including "Audios" apart
from "tips" available there. (if Library is accessible inyour city)

Best of luck

Vijesj,
     you said.
This is exactly what i did.
British council is probably the best place.
its just a persistent effort of about 1-1.5 months
     before the exam.
but start studying after getting an exam date.

Hi everyone,

I have a long (sob) story here, I'm sure there must be a way to
make it shorter, but as you can plainly see - I am long winded :)

I am currently married to a USA citizen (we've been together 6
years now, married officially August 13, 2001) We live in Canada
together now and have been here since August 2001. We have one child
together, who was born in Texas and I have 3 other children (from a
previous relationship).
We have a history with customs/immigration from us just trying to
be together! We have never had enough money for the immigration
process...when we moved back here together (we had lived in Canada
for a year together before immigration ordered my husband to
leave...so we all left), it was literally hell at the border
crossing, previously we had gotten a common-law marriage certificate
in Texas, we did this because we wanted to wait for a nice
wedding...it wasn't good enough for customs, so we got married the
next day in Montana, my husband got a ministers permit to enter
Canada but it expired after 6 months...he's been here for 3 years
this August *sigh*.
We just cannot afford the immigration process but we also can't
afford to not have my husband working! We need to either move back to
the USA or for him to somehow be able to work/live here legally.
Separating our family for bureaucratic purposes is really out of the
question for us, we have 4 children, we've been together a long time
and we remain happily married and frankly we are afraid to separate
to immigrate, in case for whatever reason one of us is denied, we
never see eachother again! (also frankly cannot believe this is even
an issue in North America 2004!)

To make a long story shorter, it is ideal for us to move to
Washington together, there is a lot of work there in my husbands
field and it's close to my home (southern British Columbia) we are
recently destitute...broke. All I have is my mobile home and when/if
we do go to Washington, we will be living in free/cheap campgrounds
until we can find something better. We really need to get out of here
soon, like within a month or 2! As we are all miserable, depressed
and tired of being broke with no opportunity to look forward to.
How can we do this? How can we all safely and legally move to
Washington? Keeping in mind that we are married and we do have a
child together who was born in the USA. Does anyone have anything at
all for advice? I can't imagine we are the only ones out here. Thank
you for your time.

    -Tia
