They get to try out diffrent sports ranging from golf,tag football,basketball,baseball,soccer and volley ball.Plus,theres FREE food twice a day supplied by Marshall University and Sodexho,located at the Student Center! 89% of the children Living in West Virginia are living in Poverty! Creating Community Economics With a Local Currency. Lets gain control of our social and enviromental effects of commerce by issuing our own local paper money! Here's how it works: The Huntington Hour is Huntington's $10.00 bill, because $10.00 per hour is the average of wages in Cabell Co. The Hours notes in five denominations, buy plumbing, electrical work, concrete repairs, roofing, child care, car and bike repair, food, books, firewood, gifts and thousands of other goods and services. The Hours system was founded in Ithaca Ny in 1991 and has issued $110,000 of there own local paper money. Tens of thousands of purchases and many new friends have been made with this cash, and millions of dollars of local trading has been added to the Grassroots National Product. Local Currency is lots of fun and it's legal. HOURS is taxable income when traded for professional goods or services .Local currency is also alot of work and responsobility. HOURS are thus real money, local tender rather than legal tender, backed by real people, real labor, skills and tools. We print our own money because we watch Federal Dollars come to town, shake a few hands, then leave to buy rainforest lumber and fight useless wars. Huntington HOURS by contrast, stay in our region to help us hire and pay each other. While green dollars make us increasingly dependent on transnational corporations and bankers, HOURS reinforce community trading and expand commerce which is accountable to our concerns for ecology and social justice
