I set up a Facebook group for IAMS alums who graduated in the 1980's (so classes
of 1985-1989).
We can do a lot of our organizing on Facebook.
It's a lot better than Yahoo Groups (you can post videos, etc.)
If anyone hasn't yet joined the Facebook page, go to
http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/group.php?gid=57100272918&ref=nf
Definitely check it out!
Hey good to hear from you all again. The group hasn't been active recently.. I
see a lot of IAMS
Folks are on facebook. Let's try to get connected that way.
our 25th reunion is coming up in just a couple of years!

Yeah my wife and I were supposed to go to that Howl at The Moon deal, but we couldn't get a babysitter for my girls. Me a trouble maker, never :) Thankfully my family is somewhat well. But won't complain.

Hey Alex,
Happy 2009 to you as well. I recently found out (via fb) that we both know Ben (Mai boyfriend). Apparently you two used to make trouble as official employees of the movie theater.
Hope all is well with you and your family,

A cabbie picks up a Nun . She gets into the cab , and notices that
the VERY handsome cab driver won't stop staring at her.
She asks him why he is staring. He replies: "I have a question to ask
you but I don't want to offend you" She answers, "My son, you cannot
offend me.
When you're as old as I am and have been a nun as long as I have, you
get a chance to see and hear just about everything.
I'm sure that there's nothing you could say or ask that I would find
offensive." "Well, I've always had a fantasy to have a nun kiss me."
She responds, "Well, let's see what we can do about that: #1, you
Have to be single and #2, you must be Catholic." The cab driver is
very excited and says, "Yes, I'm single and Catholic! "OK" the nun
says. "Pull into the next alley.
" The nun fulfills his fantasy with a kiss that would make a hooker
Blush.
But when they get back on the road, the cab driver starts crying. "My
dear child," said the nun, why are you crying?
" "Forgive me but I've sinned. I lied and I must confess, I'm married
And I'm Jewish."
The nun says, "That's OK. My name is Kevin and I'm going to a
Halloween party."
Good luck with your fundraising. It's getting to be really exciting. I moved to Ohio last year after I got out of the military. I've been working with the Obama campaign since it started. They don't call this a battleground state for nothing. Sometimes I wish I could be in Chicago with more accepting people. You can't believe the things I have heard! Oh well, just 2 more weeks ( we have early voting).

I am contacting all CPS alums I know and asking them to help me meet my fundraising goal of $1,000. This is a VERY CLOSE election, so every vote counts. Thanks!
We need equal time for others, so if anyone has fundraising information for McCain or a third party candidate they are supporting, feel free to post it here.
Thanks,

Congrats, having kids will totally change your life. Enjoy it!
I had a conversation the other day with a very dear personal friend. Our
discussion took a
turn to politics. My dear sweet partner asked me who I was going to vote for. I
quickly
replied "Romney." My awesome buddy's facial expression was one where it looked
like she
was taken aback. "Romney? Why would you vote for someone who has no chance of
winning?" she asked. I have to see that my blood pressure did rise a degree or
two, but
my composure was maintained. "Well.." I said. "What makes you think he NOT going
to
win? He's won some states and still has a good chance of getting the nomination.
Also
he's run big government before, and made a positive turn around. He's made
himself
successful, and other organizations successful." My precious acquaintance then
rolled her
eyes and uttered "I just don't think he has a chance." Well at this point I
wanted to turn the
tables. "So who are you voting for?" I asked. In what I would describe as
unconfident body
language she moved around and seemed to force out "Clinton." Hmm I thought.
"Clinton?"
Ok well everyone is entitled to their opinion, even though I feel with my choice
I feel as
though I have been more of a target of confrontational people than those who are
voting
for Obama, or Clinton. I'm not feeling sorry for myself, I understand that
double standards
exist everywhere in every shape or form. In short, life isn't fair.
I understand we'll be choosing a Republican and a Democrat as nominees, but our
discussion was more on who we wanted to win. Which I believe is what everyone
means
when they ask who you are voting for. Well for me I believe at this point for
Democrats
and Republicans the two best representatives are Obama, and Romney.
I also believe that as president Romney is the best candidate. So there you have
it! Thats
who my votes are going for.
Now here's why I can't vote for Clinton:
You are responsible for your actions, period! I can not believe Clinton has yet
to be
accountable for her vote on the Iraq war. Her EXCUSE is that Bush deceived her.
What?! Her
responsibility is to the people she represents! I understand we make mistakes,
believe me I
make so many of them I should just get a tattoo on my forehead reading: "Sorry
'bout dat"
I also can't believe she says she's a Yankees fan, even though she ALWAYS said
the Cubs
were her favorite team. I know that sounds trivial, but its like the "Door Test"
from the
Bronx Tale. You learn a lot from the person who walks in front of you through a
doorway,
but wont hold the door behind them, just letting it close on you. It's very
difficult to hide
your personality. She's just not competent enough to me.
In life I believe those who cannot apologize for their mistakes have a poor
self-image.
They are not great leaders!
Why not Obama?
Well lets be honest. Obama is an awesome orator. Obama is a very good
politician.
However I think a lot of his popularity is because he's black. I really should
say I KNOW his
popularity is because of that, but I'll be politically correct.
IN MY OPINION I also think that TO much is made of black and white issues. TO
much is
made about religion. In truth NOBODY REALLY cares about black and white issues
MORE
THAN they care about where there next check is going to come from.
NOBODY REALLY cares about black and white issues MORE THAN they care about a
roof
over their head! NOBODY REALLY cares about black and white issues MORE THAN they
care
about feeding their children! Black and White issues are a dumb platform to run
on. I'm not
saying Obama is running on that, because he's not, but many who want to vote for
him
believe he is.
Why Romney?
Let me start with one thing, because this bothers me a lot. When I was a
teenager, I use to
say how I wanted to have four kids. Do I have four kids? NO! What is my point?
People change their mind!!!!!!!!!!!!! JEEZ! Because a person had an opinion at
one point in
their life, that does not mean that opinion is stuck on them like a
Identification Number in
an Auschwitz World War II camp. I'm tired of the Flip-Flopper insults.
Romney saved the economy in Mass. Romney saved the Olympics. Also and this is
close to
my heart, Romney as an entrepreneur made millions for many who had a dream of
starting
their own business, and making it. Romney as a venture capitalist assisted these
potential
business men, and made them rich. Romney believes in the American dream.
So for me it's going to be the guy from Detroit, Michigan! Mitt Romney!
Hey IAMSians:
Check out this incredible music video on Youtube. It's called "Yes We
Can" and it's a Barack Obama speech set to music. Very inspiring.
It's at http://youtube.com/watch?v=2fZHou18Cdk
I was on ABC World News last week (although I didnt find it out until
today). I was interviewed by Claire Shipman in connection with my
work on the Obama campaign in the virtual world Second Life.

p.s. My daughter Marinel is briefly shown...
Also, despite what the report said, I didn't personally build the
Obama Headquarters in Second Life. Someone else did. I just started
the group.
I could definitely use a little sun these days. What are you up to these days in terms of work? How's Marcus' business doing? How's your family? Questions, questions, questions... I'd definitely love to come visit. Kelly and Marc (my friends) have moved back to Chicago so I haven't been to MIA in a while. It would be nice to go back and get some sun : ).
Hope all is well,
