Not a prob, Joe.

I just did not see any faux pas in the remarks that you described from the
Facebook posting. Again, if someone at HS or elsewhere took offense, thats their
cross to bear.

Emirates is in deeeeeeep financial doodoo
Ethihad seems to be an ideal (and flush) partner.

If that happens one can imagine the monster (double decker) problems for that big mouthed air frame manufacturer in Toulouse...

Suddenly a 747-8 or especially an increased frequency with 787s looks
more to what airlines need.

Some analysts belive that Airbus can resell the 380s if Emirates would not take them. It would mean earlier deliveries for other carriers if they should be interested, sofar all (!) have requested delayed deliveries.

December list of destinations:

http://system.gocampaign.com/files/file.asp?f=257856

Domestic Destinations: 110
International Destinations: 66

IAH Weekly Flights: 5120

The list now includes 5 weekly flights from SIA instead of 4. I think the 5th
weekly flight starts in a couple of weeks.

Oasis would be nice.....at least Atlas was very common at MIA and got quite a few of them with variable liveries.
We need variation at IAH!

As most here already know, Atlas is taking over the Sonair IAH-LAD route next Summer. One of the burning questions that I have had, was, in whose colors will IAH's newest 747 operator be wearing? Well, it seems that Sonair has acquired an ex-Oasis 744.....

Boeing 747 -481 30322 1250 N322SG WFBN ferried 28nov09 MZJ-LAX-HKG in full Oasis cs prior delivery to Sonair

Since Atlas has no pax configured 747s, logic would seem to indicate that Sonair's newest acquisitions (2 are still to be delivered) will be wearing Sonair's eye catching livery....at least I hope so.

Due to Sonair's AM arrivals and departure, she will not be mixing it up with IAH's other intl's, having 'D' all to herself for the most part. Still, if Sonair's colors are applied, this will be a refreshing change from the bland World MD11 that we have grown accustomed to seeing for over 10 years.

You mentioned about LH's numbers against CO's new nonstop to FRA. Don't think it
would negatively impact it since they will revenue share on the route and strong
Star hubs on either end.

What would be interesting is to see what will happen to KL numbers in a few
months as CO is rumored to downgrade AMS from 772 to 764 while FRA gets upgraded
the 772 as well as the whole transition from SkyTeam to Star.

Seems like QR is having a rough go of it for the last few months, compared to EK. Glad to see SQ sticking it out.

Thanks for the numbers, Jim.

The Houston Airport System released the October 2009 traffic figures. Here's a look at how some of the international airlines did for the month.

Air France saw a decrease of 15.59%. They deplaned 8212 pax and enplaned 6665 pax. Load factors were 83% to IAH and 67% from IAH.

British Airways had an increase of 20.41%. They deplaned 9273 pax and enplaned 9277 pax. Load factors were 63% to IAH and 63% from IAH.

Emirates increased 2.82%. They deplaned 5430 pax and enplaned 6589 pax. Load factors were 66% to IAH and 80% from IAH.

KLM had a decrease of 4.97%. They deplaned 8196 pax and enplaned 7799 pax. Load factors were 83% to IAH and 79% from IAH.

Lufthansa saw an increase of 2.22%. They deplaned 8022 pax and enplaned 7575 pax. Load factors were 74% to IAH and 69% from IAH.

Qatar Airways deplaned 3881 pax and enplaned 4648 pax. Load factors were 48% to IAH and 58% from IAH.

Singapore Airlines had an increase of 26.88%. They deplaned 2522 pax and enplaned 2468 pax. Load factors were 50% to IAH and 49% from IAH.

That's it for the big international carriers.

Alaska Airlines started service recently. Last month they were not included in the HAS numbers. I noticed they were added for October.

For September AK had load factors of 78% for SEA-IAH and 49% for IAH-SEA. They only had 8 flights for the month.

For October AK had load factors of 77% for SEA-IAH and 68% for IAH-SEA.

That's it for October. Next month we'll see if CO's new IAH-FRA flight took a bite out of Lufthansa.

UAL using Espressjet, moving their gates to terminal C, is just more evidence
that CAL will have a much more involved relationship with UAL in Star than they
ever did with DL and NW in Skyteam. I predict that long term this greater
involvement in Star will be good for CAL and IAH. But we need the economy to
improve first and Boeing to get the 787s delivered before IAH will see the full
benefits.

Like most cargo operators, they make a big splash when they enter a new market,
but sneak away like a thief in the night when they leave. Apparently, that is
what KE Cargo did sometime last month, according to a post on an A.Net thread.
Too bad it was primarily a early AM operation (at least with their own metal), I
would have liked to have added a photo of it to my portfolio of IAH's int'l
operators.

Subj: [Airline] Southwest "Green Plane".........

The Green Plane

Environmental Stewardship is a responsibility Southwest takes seriously, and efficient operations are the hallmark of our Company and the foundation of our environmental commitment. Efficiency means effective use of resources (energy, people, and materials), and we strive to be as productive as possible while minimizing waste and protecting the Earth.

Over the decades, Southwest has been at the forefront of such efficiencies as paperless tickets, quick aircraft turnarounds, installation of winglets, and, more recently, the installation of fleet-wide advanced avionics. This focus on efficiency not only makes good business sense, it is the right thing to do.

The Green Plane is an innovative idea that marries efficiency, environmentally responsible products, Customer comfort, and reduced waste and weight – it is a flying testament to our philosophy that environmental decisions make good business sense. All these initiatives combined will equate to a weight savings of almost five pounds per seat, thus saving fuel and reducing emissions, along with adding recyclable elements to our cabin interior and reducing waste.
Green Plane Q&As

Elements of this plane include: InterfaceFlor Carpet - reduces labor and material costs because it is laid in carpet squares, thus eliminating the total replacement of areas such as aisles. The carpet is totally recyclable and the manufacturing process is dedicated to being completely carbon neutral.

Seat covers - offers more than twice the durability than the current leather seats as well as a weight savings per seat of almost two pounds. They are recyclable and have an environmentally- friendly manufacturing process.

Life Vest Pouch - more environmentally friendly because it offers a weight savings of one pound per passenger. The smaller pouch creates more room under the seat for carryon items.

Foam Fill - A lighter weight fill from Garnier PURtec in the back of the seats that reduces weight while providing increased customer comfort.

Wind Screen - bulkhead product that lasts longer than the current leather product, thus reducing labor costs and waste.

Aisle Rub Strips - switching from plastic to aluminum will help with durability, which reduces waste, as well as being recyclable.
Doing the Right Thing Southwest is committed to continuing to lead the industry in emissions reductions through fuel efficiency.

Efficiency in fuel consumption benefits our Company, as well as the environment, and this has been part of our business model since the beginning. Southwest has maintained our position as an industry leader in fuel efficiency and GHG reductions through comprehensive programs of reinvestment in equipment and technological innovation and partnerships with industry and government.

As we look to the future, we know climate change remains of vital importance to our industry, our Company, and our Customers, so Southwest works hard every day in every area to be a responsible steward of the environment.

Recycling And Waste Recovery: Southwest is implementing a more robust, systemwide recycling program. This systemwide co-mingled recycling program will take our current recycling efforts to the next level. By identifying opportunities to reduce, eliminate, or recover energy from our waste streams, we improve our waste management efficiencies and divert a substantial amount of material from landfills.

Water Conservation: Water is one of our most valuable resources and reducing our consumption is important to Southwest Airlines. We implement water savings ideas, including low flow water saving plumbing, auto shutoff water faucets, meeting LEEDâ„¢ standards for efficient water use at new facilities, landscaping with native and drought-tolerant plants, and recycling the water used in our engine wash program. Along with reducing our water use, it is important that we keep water sources pure and support pollution prevention by reducing the chance of contamination.

Energy Savings: We are committed to pursuing Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEEDâ„¢) standards in new construction. By taking steps to reduce the amount of energy we consume, and to purchase our energy from renewable resources. We are proud to be a member of the Environmental Protection Agency's Green Power Leadership Club for our purchase of renewable energy credits.

Noise Reduction: Southwest strives to be a good neighbor in every community we serve. We have taken steps to mitigate noise by ensuring our entire fleet meets current aircraft noise standards. The addition of our winglets and engine modifications have yielded a quieter aircraft that creates less noise when taking off and landing, plus our Pilots typically use noise abatement procedures that enable us to minimize noise impact in communities near the airports we serve.
