I'll have to go thru and scan them as good as i
can. I'll try one at a time. When i first mentioned
it, i put up what i had already scanned and then i
got busy with other things and kinda forgot about it.
I didn't think anybody was really interested.
sometimes yahoo uploading sucks, so i'll do the best i can,
just bear with me. meanwhile, if you're interested, go
look at my homepage. the link is in the links list.
i've got a ton of stuff not related to this uploaded
there.
Hello Billy -<br>I looked at your links. I copied a picture I didn't have of G.
G. G. Grandpa Hummer. Do you have a name for him?<br>Thanks.<br><br>Ed.
I looked at the real pictures again. The back of
the picture only says "Gr Gr Gr Grandpa Hummer".
Comparing writing on the backs of various other pictures to
determine who wrote what, I have concluded that my Gr Aunt
wrote it and he was her gr gr gr grandfather and my GR
GR GR GR GR Grandfather. He would have been James
Hummer's GR Grandfather. So we can estimate that he was
probably born in the late 1700's, maybe the 1780's. I
kinda thought he was James father, John, until I really
thought about what was written and by whom.
They're in the pictures area. That's everything
I've scanned so far. I'll get the rest scanned and
uploaded as soon as I can. It looks like I have about 12
more letters. They're all in one place, but mixed, so
we'll have to see what comes out. If you get these
messages via e-mail, sorry for the confusion as I rewrote
it a couple times.
I scanned my great grandmother Ruby Evangeline
Hummer's death certificate. She was James and Clarissa
Hummer's daughter. Also, letter f7 is an envelope. I
scanned a tape measure with it so you can see how little
these envelopes really are.
and more to go tommorrow. I'll keep doing a few a
day until i'm done. So far there's 9 letters done
with a total 52 pages. If anybody is saving and
printing them, please let me know how its working,
quality-wise. I'm scanning them at 100 dpi.
Thanks Billy. I printed off the letters. They are
more than I had. Some were to large to print. Maybe
next time, when you scan, reduce the size to 60%. This
insures that they are completely printable.<br>Again
thanks.<br><br>Ed.
You should be able to print anything regardless
of size. The easiest way is to go into print setup
or whatever your system calls it and choose the
option to fit the print to the paper size while
maintaining the correct proportions. All printers should have
the option. It's just figuring out what they call it.
It works the same way with a little picture to make
it bigger. The other harder option is to go to your
photo editor and reduce the size. When they are scanned
at a higher resolution, (these were 100 dpi), and
then fit down to the paper size, you get a much better
image.
I tried your way. B1 is one that will not print
out completely. You get only about 5 lines. I reduced
the size to 60%. All I got was a reduced letter with
only 5 lines.<br>Thanks anyway.<br><br>Ed.
Not sure what to say. I just downloaded and
printed it, no problem. I use corel 8, but that has
nothing to do with this part. The adjusting is done in
the printer settings. I have a Canon BJC-620 bubble
jet. When i click to print, a box comes up and i go to
the layout tab. When i do a print preview it shows
the picture as smaller than letter size paper, not
bigger. So when i choose "fit to page" it increases the
size a little, making it the size of the letter paper.
That's about all I can add from a distance here.
For anybody that stores files at theglobe.com or
uses webjump, they are going out of business on August
15, 2001. Theglobe is where I have all of my old
family pictures uploaded. I will be moving them to my
new provider very soon along with my homepage site.
The 1930 census will be released in April 2002.
For those of you that don't know how it works, U.S.
censuses are sealed for 72 years. The next one to be
released will be in April 2012 (the 1940 census). Here's a
link that I found that tells a little about it.

Good Morning Billy -
There is a new relative that would like to join our group. His name
is Leland Cool. His EMail address is ps264@.... Would you send
him an invitation to join our group?
Thank you.
Ed. Ephrom, Jr.
Ok, I sent an invitation. I have been under the assumption that
anybody can send one out. Is this not so? Also, if you give someone
our link, they should be able to wander in and join on their own.
Does it work differently now? I'm not criticizing, just trying to
understand and to make sure nothing's changed. As the founder, I may
see different options than you and think you see them when you really
don't. Any ideas or suggestions? This group thing is all new to me.
Thanks.

Man, sorry about that. I completely forgot about those links which
were from two sites ago. I now have everything at my own domain. Go
check it out. http://www.greatunclebill.com/ Nothing commercial.
I've decided to get rid of all of my yahoo mailboxes which means
deleting my membership here. I'm not tired of the group, just yahoo
and all of the spam. Now that they are doing away with pop3, it's
time to go find a different mail carrier. I have made <me_59840> the
new owner. Good luck.
