It is with great saddness that we announce to the Hugoye-list the passing
away of Bill Petersen. Bill was a great friend of many of us at the Syriac
studies community, and he served on the editorial committee of the Hugoye
Journal from the first days of the journal. Those of us who new him well
will miss him. Those of us who know him from his work will miss his work.

Bill has been in constant communication with me about his health for the
past year. It was very sad to hear from him a few days ago when he announced
that it was only a matter of days.

I will forward to the list any information about arrangements and memorial
services.

It is with great sorrow that I announce Bill Petersen's passing at 7:30 PM,
Dec. 20,2006. His comfort was our only priority, and, thankfully was
acheived throughout the day.

Bill was truly blessed with a caring and compassionate circle of friends. I
extend my thanks for the outpouring of support you all provided.

No services will be performed in Pittsburgh. His body will be cremated;
plans for memorial services are pending.

I know there are some emails out there which Bill had yet to reply. I will
do my best to get pertinent information out to those parties. Any questions
