EMPLOYMENT VACANCY – Product Designer
The Company
Constar International UK Ltd, is part of the European subsidiary of Constar Inc,
head office located
in Philadelphia USA. Constar is one of the worlds largest established producers
of PET packaging
for the beverage market. With just over 2000 employees world wide operating from
14 facilities
globally.
Constar UK, is the second largest supplier of PET bottles and preforms to the UK
domestic market,
with a turn over of circa £85 million. Constar Uk's customer base is focused on
the three major
suppliers of cold beverage drinks, Coca Cola, Britvic Soft Drinks & Cott
Beverages.
The Position - Product Designer
We have an opportunity to recruit a graduate Product Designer, to work within
our Technical
Development team, based at Constar UK (Sherburn-in-Elmet). This is a full time
position. Hours
are 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday.
The role will include the following activities:-
Designing of new PET bottles & performs for concept sketch through to detailed
design using 3D
and 2D CAD (Siemens NX6 and Siemens NX Ideas). Our own in-house rapid
prototyping facility is
used for both customer mock ups and to aid the design process.
Specify and purchase of new test mould tooling. Undertake the manufacturing of
new sample
bottle and preforms on our in house pilot Krupp, Sidel blow moulding equipment
and Husky
injection machines. From these samples, assist in the QC testing of new
products.
Help to maintain the company and customer specifications, using in-house data
base and site wide
admin systems.
The position includes direct external customer contact, both our existing and
new customers
Develop a good working relationship with our supplier base.
Full external training in the Siemens 3D CAD systems will be provided.
Experience in using Adobe
Illustrator would be an advantage, as producing some external sales and
publication material will
be required.
The position needs candidate who is willing to take a hands on role within the
design stage but
also in manufacturing. They must be comfortable with a diverse role, from the
office to the factory
floor.
