This is a discussion group for parents using the "Homeschoolers for Bush 2004" free lesson plans at http://www.hs4bush.net. Many of us (including the three editors) used the program during the last campaign, and are doing it again with kids who are now four years older. Then, most of us had never participated in a political activity and found ourselves pleasantly surprised at the fun we had. Others are here for the first time. We ALL are doing our best to get George W. Bush re-elected while learning about how our government works.
Here, we're talking about ways that we can implement this course. We tell about the volunteer activities at Republican Headquarters, the books we’re using, the impact our kids are making in neighborhoods and homeschooling groups, share suggestions we come across via other resources, etc. This discussion is purely "how-to" guide our students in their studies. We do NOT discuss politics -- please don't bring that up in this group. We ask that you respect this guideline, and we look forward to your input.
After the last campaign, our students received letters of appreciation from the President. This time, we are still in the process of finding out if the RNC will be able to do that again. If we do receive an affirmative answer, we will announce it and provide further instructions. In the meantime, the point values are simply goals for you to use to let your children know when they've done "A" work. If you finish early, you're certainly welcome to continue working (and learning) beyond those points.
In order to protect the sense of community, comfort and semi-privacy of the participants, this list requires approval from the moderator before you may post the first time. So, you will receive an e-mail with a request for a short introduction telling the group about yourself. We are excited about the campaign, the learning our students (and we) will accomplish along the way, and the ultimate outcome for this great country of ours!
