Holy crap... so sorry all. I did NOT mean to send this out to the entire
list... A bit embarrassed.

I sure had a fun weekend with you all though!

Sorry again,

For those of you interested in seeing some additional Hardrock photos, we
just uploaded more than 1000 of them to our "Silverton
1000<http://www.facebook.com/pages/Silverton-1000/152804774843146?sk=photos>"
Facebook page, as well as to our Silverton Special
Events<http://www.silvertonspecialevents.com>site. We also just posted
some pictures from the 6,12 & 24 hour run that
was held on the Silverton 1000 course, in June.

A couple of friends took these photos and caught just about every runner in
both events. Feel free to copy & use any of the shots.

 Christian,

The Chiemgauer 100 mile run is not a Hardrock qualifier. Can we please remove
it from the list of qualifiers as we might have someone sign up for it when they
see it on our list online.

Thanks,  ken

After getting permission from Dale Garland and the Hardrock 100 group, the
original rock for the Hardrock 100 has been saved. It is now sitting under
a new Kiosk here in Silverton. Just today, it was patched back together for
it's final resting place.

The new Kiosk, where the rock has been placed, is almost finished and is
located on the Kendall Mountain Interpretive Trail. This trail is also
known as the Silverton 1000 one mile loop trail and a very small part of it
is actually used for the Hardrock 100. Deb Pero is working on the trail map
that will be placed in the center of the Kiosk but other than that, it is
almost completed. You can now see where the original rock for the Hardrock
100 will be, from now on. You can view the photos on our Silverton
1000<http://www.facebook.com/pages/Silverton-1000/152804774843146?ref=hl>Faceboo\
k
page.

This Kiosk and the one mile loop trail were all built entirely by private
individuals with private funds. No tax dollars, grants or Hardrock 100
funds were used to make this happen.

For this year, all proceeds from our Silverton 1000 Run will go to the
Silverton Ambulance Service & Search & Rescue.

Rodger

Hi Hardrockers

I had the finishers print that we all signed framed and delivered it to Bill at
Leadville last weekend. He was absolutely thrilled and touched by all the kind
words we sent him. He told me that he's going to hang it with the "24th
finishers medal for Team M&M" that Mark and Margaret sent him. Thank you all so
much for making this happen for our great friend.

Hello Friends,
I wanted to give you all a heads up that I am in the process of creating a new
race in the beautiful San Juan Mountains,  This 98% single track trail, 1 single
loop course with lots of climbing and fun, long descents will start and finish
in Silverton, CO on Saturday July 27th.  The race course spends a significant
amount of mileage above 11,000 feet, so the views are endless.  You will be
treated to the most spectacular alpine wild flowers in the area, a run along the
raging Animas River, 22 miles along some of the most breath taking miles of the
Colorado Trail, a tranquil run along Cascade Creek and a much more.
Registration will open sometime on or after December 15.  There will more than
likely be a qualification requirement for the new Silverton race due to the
longer distance between aid stations and the remoteness of this course.

All details will be added to the Dirty 30 website:
www.goldengatedirtythirty.org.

Yes, the Golden Gate Dirty 30 will still take place on Saturday June 1st, with a
50K and a 12 mile race.  The 7 mile race is being eliminated.
Now, mark your calendars and get out and enjoy this amazing fall!!!
Cheers,

Date: Sun Oct 21, 2012 4:06 pm
Subject: Hardrock Applications Received
thorncha@...
Send Email Send Email

Hardrockers,

The Hardrock applications are coming in fast.

I've received close to 300 applications so far and expect maybe 1000
total. The vast majority of them are complete and accurate. However,
there is that 1% that don't seem to be able to get it right. So, based on
applications received so far, below are some hints that will help make the
process work better for both you and me.

* Please use the mail. *DO NOT* email your application. Emailed
applications will likely be ignored.

* Send in your Hardrock application *EARLY*. The later you wait, the less
likely it is that I'll receive it by December 1.

* Resist the urge to send your application using certified or registered
mail. I'm on travel a lot and if I have to go to the post office to sign
for your application, it will certainly be delayed and it may not be
received on time. As an example, last week I received a post office notice
to pick up a registered entry *WITH POSTAGE DUE*. That's funny but I'm not
amused.

* Make sure you include documentation for your qualifying run. Without
complete documentation *INCLUDED*, your application is not complete and you
may not get into the lottery. (Of course, if Hardrock is your qualifier,
you do not have to provide any documentation.)

* Make sure you highlight your name and the qualifying run name and year
on your documentation.

* Staple *ALL* of your qualifier documentation pages and application pages
together but *DO NOT* staple your check to the application.

* Double check your application to make sure it's complete. For example,
if you indicate you included your $250 check and it's not there, I assume
that it's been stolen in the mail and a time consuming exchange of emails
will ensue that wastes your time and mine.

* Make sure that your name is printed or written on your check. A few of
the checks I've received are written from corporate accounts and, unless
you name is included, it may be tough to figure out who you are.

Thanks for taking the time to make your Hardrock application complete and
get those applications in EARLY. And, don't find yourself in that 1%.

Charlie

Guys,

I forgot to send in the page with my race qualifier on it. What's the best
way to handle that to make my application legit?

Send the page to Charlie Thorn, and explain that it goes with an existing
application.

Hardrockers,

Thanks to the hundreds who has already sent in their Hardrock application.
I encourage the rest of you to get your Hardrock applications in as early
as possible because if you wait until the last minute and there is some
problem, it might be tough to get resolution. The biggest problem so far
is failing to attach your proof of qualifying run documentation so double
check your application.

I should have the next updated listing of applicants to the web master
early next week.

Thanks,

Charlie

As stated on our web page (http://hardrock100.com<http://hardrock100.com/>)
applications to next summer's Hardrock Hundred are due December 1. However, due
to scheduling conflicts, we won't actually be holding the entry lottery until
Sunday, December 16.

We still want your applications by the December 1 deadline, since reviewing
qualifications, determining how many lottery tickets each of ~1000 applicants
gets, and actually setting up the mechanics of the three-part lottery (yes, we
actually DO pull tickets from a jar) takes some time. The most recent list of
applications received can be found on our web page. After December 1, we will
issue a list of how many tickets we think each applicant has, so any
discrepancies can be discovered and resolved before the lottery.

We want everyone to know when the lottery will actually be held in case there
are parties to be arramged, and so we don't get a gazillion emails on December 3
asking about the results.
