Hey all,

As the Boulder Trail Runners are all too familiar, a group of us have a
faithful habit of getting out on Sundays for a romp together on various
trails, often going all day...

Well, it happens that some of us find ourselves in Silverton this
weekend. Anyone wanna go play? How about a cruise together in some
territory mostly not on the Hardrock course? The scenery is absolutely
every bit as stunning, yet it's an area many Hardrockers never see!

Here's what I have in mind: Depart the Avalanche coffeehouse at 8:00
AM. Head up the shoulder of Kendall Mountain, but instead of going up,
continue south into Deer Park. Boogie over a lovely pass and descend
into Highland Mary Lakes and down into Cunningham. Then join the
Hardrock course to head up over Dives / Little Giant and down into
Silverton.

I did this loop once before, years ago. No, I don't remember the total
distance (maybe a marathon or so?). I'd give a wild guess of 6000'
elevation gain.

As always, our pace will be very mellow, and no one will be dropped.
We'll chat the day away, solve all the world's problems, and offer
relationship advice free of charge. Heck, we may even pet a marmot or
two. :-)

Wanna come play? Please RSVP so I know to expect you.

Love and happiness,

   - Fred (not in Hardrock, just here for fun)

Now that's just getting downright cruel Fred! If it isn't bad enough sitting at
home and missing the trail marking, missing the 4th parade, missing the looong
briefing, missing the pot-lick, oh yeah, and missing Hardrock, but now I've got
to miss out on your free relationship advice AND petting marmots! Dang.
Enjoy all,Andy (Not in Hardrock, not there and not having fun but living
vicariously through Steve's pics)

Good day yesterday. We parked at Governor's aid station location and hiked
up to Kroger's Canteen (formerly Virginius).
Weather was cloudy with rain and hail on the way back down. I carried the
flags up and marked on the way back down so I could see the course as I'd
be running it and where I felt flags need to be seen. It is marked a little
light because most of us are in daylight still, but I placed the flags such
that you will find your way down without over-marking. There were 12 in our
group with Rick Trujillo driving up to the Virginius mine location and
giving us a great history lesson of the area.

We ended the day with a soak in the ouray hot springs and some good food at
Buen Tiempo Mexican restaurant. Today is a rest day.

Hi Hardrockers!

My pacer fell through late last night! Yikes --after planning for 7 months...
Anyway, I am a middle of the pack runner. If you are available and have an
interest in helping me and my wife pace from Ouray or any other place (I am
flexible), please let me know or just call me: (970)481-6172. I will be

I will buy you dinner! :-) after the race. We are staying in Silverton for a

Future Hardrock Runners -

At this afternoon's pre-Hardrock Board of Directors meeting in Silverton, we
voted to make an alteration to the service requirement and qualification changes
which were announced a couple weeks ago for the 2013 running, based on feedback
we received:

1. The time period for satisfying the service requirement was changed to
6/1/12-5/31/12 from 7/13/12-5/31/12. It was pointed out to us that our original
time period created a dead space that excluded work performed at a number of
popular ultras, including Western States and pre-Hardrock-start.

2. The implementation of removing the started-any-of-the-past-three-Hardrocks
qualifier and reducing the finished-any-of-the-past-five-Hardrocks to
...three-Hardrocks was pushed back from 2013 to 2014. It was pointed out to us
that this created a situation where some runners would have to unexpectedly
enter and finish a qualifying hundred before the end of November of this year to
be eligible in 2013, and that many of our qualifiers are already full.

handful of photos from the course, Chapman, and the finish line. Just thought
I'd share them with the general public while its still fresh in our minds.
Hopefully next year will find me on the other side of the line.

       Hey, quick question:

Will the new Run Rabbit Run 100 serve as a qualifier for the 2013 HRH?

It certainly has more elevation gain than many other qualifying 100s...

Thanks,

- Fred

Don't know how else to try to contact the amazing guy who gave me a chiropractic
adjustment at cunningham (really!) and relieved the horrible back spasms I was
having- somebody said you were rich's pacer.
You absolutely saved my race- I'm very grateful. Just another testament to the
kind of folks hardrockers are....

Looking for a ride from Denver area to Silverton any time on Wednesday
7/11. Will be happy help with gas expense. Family / crew can't make it down
until late Thursday, trying to avoid having 2 cars to drive back on Sunday.

Thanks,
Brian Fisher

2012 Hardrockers,

I've emailed this year's Hardrock runners survey to all the starters. This
is your opportunity to provide input to Hardrock so we can improve.

My email may look like spam, so please check your folders. If you don't
get that email, please let me know, OFF LINE, and I'll send you the copy.

The survey is due back to me by August 10.

I hope to see you next July in the hills.

Charlie
