Description

HP-Hogwarts E-Group is a role-play by email list set at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry as created by J.K. Rowling in the Harry Potter books. We try to use free form style of role-play, which means that players direct the movements of their characters and that the plot develops from the character posts with some assistance from moderators.

Please note that while the role-play is 'free form' this does not give players free reign to disrespect the setting that has been established or permission to create 'all-powerful' characters. Students having some special talents are acceptable but these should be kept in context.

It is also worth noting that while we have retained Hogwarts and many of the teachers and locations, in this world there is no Harry Potter or his friends. This is to allow all characters to develop as you want rather than being dominated by Harry Potter or the events of current and future books in the series. The teachers are not part of the plot, but played by the moderators as required.

The alternative history can be found on HP-Hogwarts official site along with current character profiles and other material.

To Join the group you will need to choose a Name, House, Pet and a Wand and some background for your character. (Please submit to the moderator who contacts you after joining for approval before introducing to the list). With respect to House allocation, there is technically no restriction though currently Hufflepuff house has no members. Most player characters are about to start their Fourth Year at Hogwarts.

Please also join the group oc-hogwarts, as we use this as the out-of-character (OC) posting area.

Note: The list and the associated lists have a zero tolerance policy on spam.

Disclaimer: Some people may find aspects of the subject matter offensive. We class the group as PG-13 (American rating). This means that parents might want to check material or subject matter before allowing their children to participate.
