Hi Linaway. I am very interested in your work. I
have pages upon pages of stats from in-casino as well
as practice. I construct as pretty good rendition of
a craps table for practicing at home and use it at
least two hours a day (benefits of being a home based
business) After reading ALL of your posts at the other site
and your articles, I began practicing with your set
of 4/1 5/3. I had been using a variation within the
3 vee array of 1/6 5/3. One more rotation of the
left die gives me the 4/1 5/3. Went 1:17 SRR the past
three days in practice. I plan to use that set in Vegas
this week.
Anyway I would love some extra help
looking at my tosses and figuring out the best set for my
toss. Another pair of eyes and and entire brain can
really help a gal out! Sometimes it is difficult to self
evaluate...hard to see the tree when you are the tree!
Hope to
toss with you ine day.
Dicedoctor
Hey Larry, see where you put up 1st weekly
featured logic set. Very nice [Thanks}. If I may, should
any member like to see their personal set logic table
[ye olde acid tested would be best], please let me
know and will get it to Larry should he agree. Thanks

The concept of rythymic throwing is an old one .I
first came upon it about 30 or 35 years ago when during
a good shoot I was having I happened to throw
differently and another player and his buddie said "Hey
shooter dont change your throw your doing great dont
change anything"as they were standing on either side of
me they proceded to give this young novice some
pointers on throwing the dice.Dont do anything different
from beginning to end if you smoke /dont if you want a
drink /dont /dont change your stance or posture repeat
the same throw to the same spot over and over.I
recall at one point one of them turning his head and
saying over my shoulder"He dont want nuthin take
off!"Well the good shoot became a hot shoot and the hot
shoot became a monster shoot. It is a strange and heady
experience to have grown men and women cheer you on while
throwing money at you.I have abided by those simple rules
and refined that delivery which I use whether I set
first or not.I have never duplicated that shoot or even
come close to it but I have had many warm shoots. My
best shoot while setting is 57 min hence the handle
shooter57.For the rythymic throw I stack the dice or lay them
end to end and ask the stick to return either hard 6
up or 5 up.Why ?Dont know just works out better that
way.The delivery is rising to about the height of the
sticks chest and dropping from there to just inside the
come box near the DP line one bounce and just enough
force to get them there. And oh yeah ENZO and TONY where
ever you are I hope the points are rolling hot and
heavy every roll a hard ways number and the dealers are
freindly. SHOOTER57 GOOD LUCK ALL
7th, glad to see you made it here okay. You won't
be sorry. Don't remember the movie, but a phrase
something like "BUILD IT AND THEY WILL COME" seems to fit.
You're in on the ground floor. Some nice folks already
here waiting for you such as dicedoctor, shooter57, N'
Larry [ahcraps]. Lay some words on us.
Backwards or not glad that you joined in! Have you been setting long or are you
learning? If long, feel free to pass some wisdom our way. Larry "AhCraps!"
Linaway;
Okay, here n joined up, almost
thought it was 7 out though, as had to turn handle name
around and modify.. As it just (yahoo) would not accept
seventh__wave in any kinda normal fashion.. GRrrr..
By the
way "AhCraps", good handle, but not exactly what I
say in my head sometimes at the table.. Lols..
HI Tex,
Could not agree more! We hire
experts in the field of stocks to do our gambling for us
because we (most people) don't know anything about it. We
expect them to have done their homework. The plus to
this arrangement is if you lose money you can blame
someone else!
Yet many players will go to a craps
table, Lose and try to blame everyone else. Wrong! It
wasn't the casino, not the guy that through the dice off
the table, not the pit boss, not the color of dice,
or any of the hundreds of excuses we use for losing.
At some point we have to realize that the reason for
losing in a game that we have control of betting
patterns is square on us! The Five reasons for losing that
you give point in the players direction. It takes
work to master this game.
Point being - Learn all
you can about the game. But even more important,
learn how to control yourself! Why do you turn money
over to a Stock Broker? Because they did their
homework! Larry "AhCraps!"
Howdy Tex, nice to see you onbaord. Now the
questions cometh.....Larry recently put up a scenario for
me regarding "Perfect World" set breakdowns. Would
you consider an eyeball and offer up your thoughts on
these critters? Can be seen in Ahcraps DIce Setting
Training ROOm Section 3 [brand new].

Those
currently shown reflect on 7's addresses. Periodically,
Larry will post more set breakdwons that I have
provided him on specific dice sets. This scenario is
different in content that any others you've looked at
before.

The idea behind these guys is to
familiarize folks with cube properties and hopefully provide
insights of what to anticipate from set out
come.

Not looking just at hardways, which is a subject
seldom touched on, but illustrates all probable numbers
within a set. Hope you like what you see. Thanks Linaway
Rest assured it's the same old dice setting, money managing, bullshit slinging
fat boy.

Hey Heavy! Glad to see you are here. Wouldn't be the same with
out your input as well.
Recently I was talking to a guy who had shot
craps for the first time on a cruise ship. His first
session he had an amazing (beginners luck) run on red
dice. When he came back later that night that had
switched to blue dice - and he couldn't shoot at all.

The casino pit people are among the most superstitous
in the world - and will change the dice in the blink
of an eye if the table gets too hot. Sometimes the
dice are different color. Sometimes they switch from
dice with a matte finish instead of a gloss finish.
Sometimes the dice are from a different manufacturer. Why?
I'm of the opinion that the different dice are not
unlike different "compression" golf balls - and they do
indeed react differently when thrown.

There is
also a significant difference in the tables you play
on. Some have soft felt. Some it's so thin you can
see through it. Some have special underpadding. Some
are simply stretched over plywood. Some tables have
"speed bumps" which you can't really see from above -
but if you get down eye level you can detect -
usually on either side of the prop box - and often about
two thirds of the way down table on each end. All of
which come into play.

Unless I can get into a
heads up game at a table - I prefer to watch the other
players handle the dice for a few minutes before I take a
shot at it. Not the same as getting a few practice
throws in, but with experience you can read the tables
to a degree.
Hey, it's me. Somebody already had the handle
"heavy" locked up on Yahoo - so I'll be heavy_tex on this
forum. Rest assured it's the same old dice setting,
money managing, bullshit slinging fat boy.
I copied this directly from Scott Cameron's web
site - www.dicedealer.com. Scott runs a dealer school
in Vegas and has a web page that is loads of fun for
players and dealers alike. Here's Scott's observation on
why people lose:

Why do people lose?

1. Poor money management

2. Greed

3.
Stupidity

4. Refuse to play 'both sides' of the
game

5. Doesn't have any balls, reluctance to
bet big at opportune times.
Two possibilities come to mind. One by tracking
the players. Your best bet here is their delivery non
setter/. chicken feeder/ setter with a come out set that
produces 7s.Two is kind of a catch as catch can situation
in that horn numbers or in general feild numbers
appearing one after another signals the 7s appearance. Not
all the tme but more often than not.GOOD LUCK
SHOOTER57
Hi Billy, haven't talked to you for awhile. Nice
to hear from you again.

About crossed 6's.
flying "V", don't attempt to advocate one over the
other. As mentioned, for my style of toss and its
character, I don't go for specific numbers simply because
out come can not be predicted. However influenced
by
setting/mechanics/control/rhythm or whatever you wish to call it, in the
right
conditions, you do influence out comes. Your right on the
target with analogy of probable 7's in a given set.

In a perfect world, the optimum set would be any set
on a forward toss plan [vertical], that contains the
hard 6/8 [during point].
The probability of 3 ea.
6/8'are there and only 2 sevens. Note that the flying "V"
is in this array of 16.

One of my personal
preferences is the 4/1...5/3, not the flying "V". "V" just
don't work well for me [note the flying "V" is in this
array]. Now if the 4/1...5/3 fails me, I might lean
towards
the 4/1...5/1. Nothing more than a qtr turn of a
die.

Unfortunately in a perfect world analogy, this puts trash back
into the set array with one less 6/8 and still yet
keeps you at 2 seven probabilities.

The set I go
with is the one that is the most productive for
numbers, not trash during point. If I was to have a roll
signature, it would one that has a predominant
number/numbers at
that exact point in time [that pair of
dice, that table, that environment]. Color/die density
etc. influences set choices and
delivery. One come
out, will use 4/1...3/1 or 1/2...5/1 which ever is
productive for me in that current environment. Both have 4
seven probabilities with other trash. Note that
4/1...3/1 set has only one each probability of a 6/8. There
are 15 other arrangements around this set. Never
bothered to see what they were.

You're very
perceptive regarding die geometry. Good job, good thoughts.
Nice to see this board sing again. later ... linaway
Short while back, 57 shooter mentioned he had
used rhythm rolling without a specific set. Got to
thinking about this and gave it a practice table try. Had
surprisingly good results.

The one thing I did ,
following premise of optimum outcome array utilizing a 3 or
4 showing somewhere on both die in the forward
tossing plane, [hard 6n8 in root array], any set that
turned up in this configuration would quickly toss using
normal grip and delivery.

Had a number of
excellent turns at dice. Thought occurred to me that this
might possibly be a way around pit critters getting in
your face about setting. A litteral quick set. More
specific info on set arrays available at Ahcraps Dice
Setting Training Room Section 3 regarding root arrays.

Another thought might be where your favored sets just
aren't working for you, this might possibly be an option
to consider Have fun with this.....Linaway
To be able to play the game correctly you must be
able to play both sides of the line. When playing on
the pass line and a 7out occurs switch immediately to
the dont play there as long as you win and on a loss
switch to the pass line.In this manner you catch trends
on either side of the line.If you run into a
situation like DP/P/DP/P/DP/P/ play a system called avant
dernier which was developed by the French years ago for
baccarat and even money roullete bets. You bet not on the
last decision but the one before it .Avant dernier
means before the last time.Of course you can stand
there and try and figure it all out while possible wins
go by but you wont be able to.Rather than suffer
from paralysis by analysis just leave and save your
money.GOOD LUCK SHOOTER57
Reprint from other post bac
when........

Hey crappers, in the evolution of my crappy
experiences, have been eye-balling situations.

Some
things to ponder:

Seems like the weight of a
shooters performance is measured by his/her total rolls.
The following hypothetical situation might imply
total rolls is not necessarily a good way to measure
performance....stay with me, I'm fumbling and trying to get to
it.

Shooter #1....has 9 total rolls consisting of
7...3...7...11...4...12...5...9...7.

Now here we are with bets up on 6/8.
Shooter had 9
rolls, you got no hits and lost place bets to the
7.

Shooter
#2.....rolls
are,5...6...3...8...8...3...9...4...7.

2nd shooter also
had 9 rolls, however your 6/8 place
bet received 3 hits.

This example would
advocate that one might better consider shooter
performance based on "HIT WEIGHT" and not total
rolls.

Using your imagination and perhaps a full spread across
the board, here depending on magnitude of bets,
perhaps a hit rate of 4 comes close to your having your
bets payed for. Any subsequent hits is profit.

With this concept in mind, one might use this scenario
as a part of your tracking tools.

How many
times have you had this happen to you? A different can
of worms! linaway
I have taken the wealth of information on set
configurations for max inpact that lineaway (Free4) has provided
me and place it in the Dice Setting Training Room.
If you understand the basics of setting and want to
move on - This is the place to do it! Go to
http://www.ahcraps.com/dice-setting.htm Post all your question
here on this board and I
am sure Free4 will be happy to give his best! Larry

of the screen to get your friends involved.
Hey setters, just had a nice visit with Larry
after proposing some new material regarding setting. As
a way to introduce myself to this forum, I have a
number of items posted under former handle, at Ahcraps,
of Free4.

My theme is one of "Process N'
Procedure" giving insights to methods of practical
applications. Most don't clash with Ahcraps scenario but
perhaps enhance ways of doing things in the world of
craps.

I haven't re-invented the wheel, however,
My son and I have developed a rather unique way to
find and apply dice setting techniques.

Should
anyone be interested, give us a holler and will do my
very best to accomidate. An avid
setter/player.....Linaway
Hi again Larry. had no idea you are from Aurora.
I play at Hollywood at least 2 -3 times every other
week. I live in both cities. When I am in Milwaukee I
go to Hollywood at least twice a week. We definately
have to hook up for some dice action and table
tracking and Pay 4 it and Big Red! oh yeah. I'll be back
up north on Thursday this week.Any days you want to
play?
I hope you like our new home. The old board was
messing up and very restrictive. This new fourm gives
wider exposure for new players to add valuable
information. We will have space to grow into the best setters
board on the web! However, I do incourage craps comment
in general as well as casino outings. Let's be the
best we can be! Larry "AhCraps!"
