The homezones-discuss-l mailing list is for the discussion of the planning and implementation of areas within our towns and cities which accommodate the interests of all sectors of the community using the streets in the most harmonious way possible.

From residents, to pre-school children and their parents, to vehicle owners and drivers, to town planning and other professionals - all are welcome to contribute their point of view here.

Known by some in the UK as Home Zones, this is just one name for areas which are aim to achieve the best possible compromise between the often conflicting needs of residents, pedestrians, car owners, and traffic. Other names to convey a similar ethos include the Dutch, 'Woonerf', and the German, 'Verkehrsberuhigung'.
