I spoke just now with Dennis Kimambo +254 722 388 275 in Nakuru.
Nakuru has been a haven for refugees since the start of the Kenyan
post-election turmoil. However, recently the Kalenjin fighters have
burned down some houses nearby. The Kalenjin fighters have apparently
been organizing themselves. There are also revenge attacks against the
Kalenjins. I think the situation is exacerbated by the lack of
statesmanship by president Mwai Kibaki and candidate Raila Odinga.
I am back in Lithuania. I intend to apply our Pyramid of Peace approach
with great vigor to address this crisis. I will set up a system to
account for and present the flow of money, airtime and news within our
network. Also, let us think who we can reach beyond our network, for
example, in the media. Our priority now for any new funds we receive is
to engage the Kalenjin fighters. I suggested that we involve Kalenjins
in the police and provide them with airtime to share and Dennis agreed
that he has the contacts and this would be a good idea. Dennis also
confirmed that our approach is helping for peace and is much needed.
Also, let's use our wiki to make a list of projects for which we
personally ask for support or which we personally want to support. Here
the projects will build our personal relationships, too. We can look
for funds from ourselves and from others who wish to dedicated for these
projects in particular.
