Wesley Chirchir, Thank you very much for your letter from Eldoret which I share.
You can write us directly at fightingpeacefully@yahoogroups.com I will think
about your letter. Andrius
-----------------------------------------------------------
Dear Andrius and Marcus,
I agree with Marcus. We need to consider other ways
that we can access funding from to faciliate a long
-term project approach.
As I mentioned to you before, a number of peace
organisations and the churches have come together to
form the North Rift Post Election Violence Response
Initiative (NREVRI). As a network, we have identified
a few organisations to be approached to fund some if
not all of the activities rolled out under this
six-months project.
This initiative was formed on 11th January 2008 by
several peace resource organizations working in North
Rift, to address the apparent low and scattered peace
intervention initiatives and limited impact on
stemming the post election violence.
The vision of the project is to enhance sustainable
peace among the warring communities in North Rift
valley provice of KENYA thereby contributing to the
national healing and reconciliation, with the purpose
to mitigate the effects of post-election violence
within the affected communities living in the region.
One of the outputs is to focus specifically on return
of IDPs to their farms, reintegration of combatants
through a micro credit intervention, rebuilding of
shattered houses and economies. Other interventions
include providing psycho-social support and
stimulation of dialogue sessions between and among
contesting communities within the region.
This initiative is a product of wide ranging and
extensive consultations between these organizations.
The project is expected to address the prevailing
insecurity within the region as worsened by the
continued hardening of positions by contesting
parties.
To this end, we wish to request you to identify any
person interested in attending our meeting on 25th
january 2008 at Sirikwa Eldoret where we will be
rolling out this project to our potential donors and
implementation partners. The entire briefing will take
no less than one hour.
Tp this end,I wish to request you to share this
proposal with some of the potential donors including
the person from Denmarck, who knows NGOs that received
funding from governments.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in
this matter.
Yours sincerely,
WESLEY CHIRCHIR CHEBII
