PLEASE NOTE-membership on the Hong Kong Adopt email group is open ONLY to families who are in the midst of their adoptions in HK and have signed on with an agency OR if they have already returned with their children.
Families who are merely seeking information are not eligible for membership--but please contact the listowner or moderators for an information sheet we are very happy to send to you if you do not qualify. Please know we make absolutely no exceptions to this but do feel free to request the information sheet&we will answer any questions.
IMPORTANT: No current staff of any HK adoption entity (SWD/AU, Mothers Chocie, HoLF, ISS, etc) may join. No one who has worked in the past for any overseas HK adoption entity (SWD/AU, Mothers Choice, HoLF, ISS) may join unless they've adopted in HK. No one from any foreign exchange student organization may join and no one from any agency working in HK adoptions may join unless they've adopted in HK.
Since the Hong Kong adoption process is so different from an adoption in the PRC, we wanted to form a group where we could discuss and share our commonalities. We will also offer support, advice, and have discussions re special needs issues.
While most of our group members are from the USA, we also welcome citizens of Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the UK.
Additionally, we also welcome expats living in Hong Kong, regardless of country, who are adopting in Hong Kong directly through social welfare.
