Hi,
A very interesting mail has been put up on Muireann's mailing list,
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/savetara/message/4138
disagreeing with statements on this list and attempting some
explanation of the savetara.com web site. I will quote it here in full
and then give an analysis:

"I have seen recent posts here and elsewhere (specifically hilloftara)
which need correcting. savetara.com existed before, during and now
continues after the disbandment of the umbrella Grouping - Campaign to
Save Tara.
At its inception savetara.com carried the Banner "Save Tara Campaign".
On the formation of Campaign to Save Tara, the savetara.com Website
was adopted as the campaign Website rather then have a new site
created as it was well advanced and was easily adapted to the role.
The Banner was changed to "Campaign to Save Tara".
On the disbandment of Campaign to Save Tara, savetara.com reverted to
its original title - "Save Tara Campaign". Recent
refinements/modifications/redesign have seen the Banner being dropped
but it will return as and when I deem appropiate/necessary.
I have been the only Webmaster for savetara.com since its inception."

Here is a response to that post:
The domain name savetara.com originally belonged to the family and
friends of a girl called Tara, who was sick in the US, and was
therefore unavailable when the first save Tara group came into being,
in 2003. Instead, we chose taraskryne.org which was hosted by Terry of
what would later become sacredireland. Later the girl died, and Nial
Brosnan secured the name, which he at some point made available to
Muireann.
Here is a little time line, to help understand the sequence of events
that has led to today's mess.
September 2003: Save Tara Skryne Valley group came into existence at a
large public meeting in Meath, just after An Bord Pleanala approved
the motorway. I was elected Public Relations officer, having done PR
for 2 years on the Carrickmines issue. TaraSkryne.org was put up.
March 2004. I secured a meeting with UNESCO. Muireann Ni Bhrolchain of
the Labour Party begins attending weekly meetings in Dalgan Park and
is appointed a spokesperson.
11th. May '05. Roche gives directions for excavations of 38 sites to
proceed, and I leave STSV soon after to undertake legal action in an
individual capacity.
July 4 '05 I was given leave to take the case in High Court, but the
case is delayed for a long time, as the courts await the outcome of the
third Carrickmines case. TaraWatch is set up, primarily to support
litigation.
October 2005. Taraskryne.org domain name lapses and the domain is
squatted by a porn site, because people were denied access to renew
it.
December 2005. Muireann writes a letter to the Meath Chronicle,
resigning from the STSV group, which has by then become nonfunctional.
March 2006. The High Court case is lost and appeal filed in Supreme
Court.
Summer 2006. The Vigil is set up on the Hill of Tara.
November 2006 - I settle my case, and make way for a fresh case to go
forward. An Taisce say they will sue, but their case ends up being
delayed until early 2007.
December 2006. By now, the savetara.com has been put up, and Muireann
is sending out press releases on her own, from savetara.com (Not 'Save
Tara Camapign') which are competing with tarawatch press releases. The
site says it is the "Official web site for the save Tara group."
http://www.networksolutions.com/whois/results.jsp?domain=savetara.com
TaraWatch proposes the creation of an umbrella group, to include
everyone, ie the Vigil, the Save Tara Valley group run by Heather and
the newly involved, Earth Wisdom Foundation, run by Kevin Hayes. We
hold meetings and decide to begin direct action and to send out
releases under Campaign to Save Tara name. Muireann refuses to attend
any meetings, but continues to send out press releases from
'savetara.com' at her whim.
Jan/Feb 2007. Michael Canney of the Green Party arrives and proposes
that CST run a political campaign, for the upcoming election, and
launches a series of attacks on TaraWatch and the legal strategy.
Kevin Hayes appointed co-ordinator. TaraWatch withdraws from CST
because of disagreements over legal strategy. Muireann joins CST and
savetara.com becomes their site.
CST runs political campaign, and succeeds only in raising the ire of
the Director of the National Museum who writes to the papers to
complain that his name is being used for a political campaign on
brochures. Thousands of leaflets are distributed, asking people to
vote for Labour and Green Party candidates.
May 2007 - The Greens get a good few votes, and end up joining
Government.
29 Aug 2007 - While TaraWatch are preparing a case, Michael Canney
shocks the world and 'launches' a legal case, at a press conference in
the EU offices, amid claims of having a legal dreamteam. It is to be
taken in the public interest.
December 2007 Campaign to Save Tara disbands, in secrecy. There is no
definite news on the court case by Canney.

December 2007 Muireann begins sending out press releases under Save
Tara Campaign, before anyone even knows CST is shut down, and before
they are forced to make a public statement. Fundraising continues,
despite the investigation by the Standards in Public Office Commission
for being an unregistered political lobby
group.http://www.savetara.com/statements/120207_megalithic.html
January 2008. Legal action is filed by Gordon Lucas, supported by
TaraWatch. No fundraising is possible because of above investigation.
So, today we have a situation on one side where there is no group, no
lawsuit and fundraising continues, along with press releases on behalf
of the fictitious group, as well as a web site that claims to be the
'official' group site - and on the other side you have a group, a
lawsuit and no fundraising.
TaraWatch tried to address this situation by sending a private agreed
statement to Muireann. Muireann chose to make this statement public,
and now we have no recourse but to deal with this publicly. And deal
with it we will.
Once more, we ask her to cease and desist from issuing press releases,
which:
- claim to represent a group which does not in fact exist
- claim ownership over an entire campaign, when this is not the case
Muireann Ni Bhrolchain is a historian. We do not understand why she is
not willing to get a top historian to give an affidavit in the Lucas
case, or put on a series of historical talks. One of the reasons
Gordon's case is delayed is because the expert, Professor George Eogan
(retired) just spent a week in hospital. Yet, he is our best witness
because Conor Newman and Joe Fenwick, despite all their articles in the
papers, have thus far chosen not to participate in a legal case.
During the time that TaraWatch has been in existence, Muireann has
been involved in the collapse of two other Tara campaign groups. Now,
she is back to running a mailing list and a web site, but still wants
the world to think she is at the head of a coherent group. Nothing
could be further from the truth, and it is time the truth mattered.
Today we see this anonymous mail from the savetara.com webmaster,
claiming that savetara.com used to be a web site for Save Tara
Campaign group before it was Campaign to Save Tara. This is not true,
because there was never any group called Save Tara Campaign, and there
is still none to this day. He or she fails to explain why the
donations section has just been removed from that site in the last 24
hours. He or she fails to identify who controls the site. Maybe we
will get some answers now... but one thing is definite: Save Tara
Campaign never existed and still does not exist, whether they put up a
banner or not. It is nothing more than an attempt to draw attention
away from the real campaign, being run by TaraWatch and the people on
the ground. It is a hoax.
