The Superior Hiking Trail traverses 250 miles of accessible wilderness on Minnesota's rugged north shore of Lake Superior. It's rated one of the 10 best hiking trails in the United States. It has something for everyone from the day hiker to the serious back packer. The largely volunteer maintained trail and it's 80 backcountry campsites requires no permits or registration. Use this group to communicate with other hikers, search for hiking partners, report trail conditions, anything related to the Superior Hiking Trail. Also be sure to check out the Superior Hiking Trail Association web site at http://www.shta.org. Information on shuttle services for hikers can be found at http://superiorshuttle.com/. Also, Harriet Quarles Transportation in Grand Marais provides custom shuttle services anywhere on trail: harrietq@boreal.org, 1-866-387-1801.
