Description

This group was established for people who have or have considered a Harbor Freight Micro Mill/Drill model 47158 for conversion to CNC (computer numerical control).

This particular micro machine is rather new and information, regarding CNC conversion is not available through other CNC related groups, reason why this group was established.

Please post information that is or may be relevant to this topic only. Hopefully we can all benefit from this group and enjoy each other's suggestions, comments, friendships.

Its been 5 years since I started this forum but unfortunately this great little machine is no longer offered via Harbor Freight. Nevertheless, the information here is uiniversal and any upgrade done to this machine can be applied also to similar size machines.

I personally love this little machine after I converted it to cnc, with a couple more enhancements in particular to the motor speed. Of course, within the limits of the machie and its application, it is a great little tool for someone doing micro model work and some general round the home machining. I've been able to cut 1/4 inch delrin antibacklash nuts and
adapter blocks for the heads of 5/16 TPI Hex Bolts to use them as vice table slot retainer clamps for the same machine. I've also done aluminum mounting plates for stepper motors and a host of other parts for various uses, with no problems, using a higher speed spindle set up with ER collets.

The machine bolted down to a solid table provides more rigidity than
without the mounting bolts.

Check out my other groups
and site www.micro-flight.com for some other cool stuff...
