I wouldn't think you're crazy at all. I bet if we got together we could out-crazy ourselves for hours. You have such a great sense of humor.
When we first started I could print the birthday list on one page! Ha! Now its so large. It's huge! I do miss some of the old' back and forth that the group had, even when you were pointing out my embarrassing typos, lol.
I think it has to do with the fact that a lot of us are out looking for jobs or working furiously to hold on to the ones we do have. Either that or they are all on vacation or something.
I don't know how often you get over to Heycuz.net, so I'm sharing my most recent column down below. Partly for your benefit, but mostly cause I think its a riot. I crack myself up. ;-)
Anyway, it's good to hear from you and hope you are healthy and happy.
April
The Trouble With Tribbles
I have to admit, getting use to living in a new place would be easier if it wasn't inundated with bugs. Last month it was beetles. I mentioned it to my Dad and he said, "You mean June bugs." No, Dad, I explained that I knew a June bug and this was a black hard-shelled water beetle. Wouldn't cha know it, the very next night after talking to my Dad, the June bugs arrived. They were hardy folk. If you had any light on by a window you'd hear the thud thud thud of them hitting against it.
The first year we got here there were wormy things. Some farmer, according to the news, had planted his first crop and didn't realize he was supposed to spray it. So, it became infested with wormy things. They lost interest after they'd had their way with the crop and swarmed the surrounding neighborhoods. Even though our yard, outside walls, and cars were covered by those things, I really felt sympathy for the poor young farmer who was being hounded by reporters about his innocent mistake. This place is a far cry from Southern Cal. Here it's breaking news when a cow gets lose and is on the highway slowing down traffic. The poor guy couldn't even pull up to his crop without having cameras and mics shoved in his face.
Now, its tarantula-sized spiders. They aren't tarantulas, they're greenish brown, but their full bodies and harry legs evoke similar shudders just the same. It's not as though they haven't tried to fight the bug problem, we've had pest control in the neighborhood so much that they know I'm the lady who stocks bottled water. I got little sympathy from Steve, who thought I was being girly when I mentioned our new "little friends."
Then last night, Steve was coming inside from the back porch when he was pushed aside by a determined spider. He was a hoopin and hollerin for a shoe, as I casually looked up from my computer. I'd kind of gotten use to the spiders but he was hell bent to chase this one down. Finally successful in squashing the spider with my son's size 16 shoe, he motioned for me to see the work of the mighty hunter. I held out a tissue for him to clean up his mess. He chuckled, "I need something bigger than that." He got a big swatter and scooped it up and showed me the evidence. It was pretty big, I agreed.
"Big?" he said, "that thing needed a license plate."
Sorry to hear you are getting so much bad news lately. It usually does happen in threes. However, we will keep you and your family in prayer. You know He is there for you.
I do remember being one of the first on the list. I think most every one is here. Just not saying much. I don't think I have seen Gail on here much though. I was glad to hear that I made someone laugh with my stories and such. If you really knew me you would think I am crazy. I am one of those people who keep most things inside, but as I teach my grandson who use to be shy, let it go. If you want to sink, sink - if you want to be funny and have a good time, do that too. It is the only little true pleasures we get out of life. Hoever, it seems like it was only yesterday when you started this, but you have advanced this organization more than I could have imagined in the beginning. You have made me proud!!!
