Wilkummt!
This group exists to discuss and explore the traditions of the Deitsch (Pennsylvania German) culture, including the healing practice of Braucherei, the magical practice of Hexerei, and the Heathen path called Urglaawe.
Although this list is Heathen focused, it covers the totality of our ancestors' experiences. The aim is to recover our folk faith, our Urglaawe, which remains a living, organic system within our nation's healing arts, folk art, farming practices, herbal lore (including Blanzeschwetze), and folklore.
The Deitsch nation is comprised mostly of the descendants of migrants from the German lands (most notably the Palatinate, Rhineland, Graubünden, Alsace, and Swabia, but also Moravia, Pomerania, and Silesia, et al) who arrived in Philadelphia and other Colonial and American ports between 1683-1820.
On topic are the various art forms and cultural expressions of the Deitsch. Deitsch food ways, herbal practices, and contributions to the American way of life are appropriate topics.
