In 1992 a small group of Central Florida residents sought a forum to exchange information and share their passion for herbs. The Herb Society of Central Florida was formed, meeting monthly at Leu Botanical Gardens to hear a wide range of guest speakers, exchange ideas, with both novices and master gardeners.
In addition to expanding our personal knowledge of herbs, we are dedicated to educating the public concerning the many aspects of growing, using and enjoying herbs: i.e. for flavor and fragrance, in decorating and in coloring (dye) materials; for medicinal, economic, and industrial purposes, including the use of pesticides. The Society contributes to area scholarship funds as well as providing speakers for community programs and local events.
