Description

This list is for the promotion of the scientific understanding of all aspects of Hegel's Logic as it is written down in his "Science of Logic".

This includes the development of Hegel's Logic (from his Jena System, his Nuernberg propedeutic logics, the 3 editions of the Encyclopedia Logic, the 2 editions of the Logic of being and his lectures on the Logic).

It also includes the works of the German Hegelians of the 19th century to explain his Logic or to write it further (e.g. Erdmann, Michelet, Rosenkranz and Werder). We especialy encourage people of reading and discussing Erdmann's version of his Logic (see http://www.archive.org/details/outlinesoflogic00erdmuoft ) as medium to get a first understanding of Hegel's Logic.

This also includes a discussion of the best scientific works on that subject of the last 30 years, especialy the last 10-15 years. We encourage reviews of articles, websites and books on this subject.

In this list we are trying to be scientific exact, trying to folow the complete argumentation of the "Science of Logic" as well as its complete architecture (and its conection to the rest of the system), trying to take into account the best and newest literature on the subject (especialy the German one) and at the same time trying to make Hegel as clear and understandable as possible, using a precise and clear language. So we will not drive people away with the excuse that it is their fault when they do not understand, but we try to excel in making Hegel's argumentation understandable. However, a willing to read and study Hegel's complete original text and to invest some heavy work in understanding it is necessary, like in any science.

We encourage the reading of Hegel's Logic in German and allow German messages.

This list is part of the Hegel discussion groups set up by http://hegel.net. As in all our lists, we encourage an open, scientific and mutual helpfull atmosphere.
