Description

This list is for a Hegelian discussion of history of philosophy, including Hegel's development of that view, as well as the work of the Hegelians of the 19th century (which would include works on the history of philosophy like the ones of Erdmann and Michelet), the recption of such history of philosophy and, last but not least, discussions how to interpret the history of philosohy, especialy of the last 177 years after Hegel's death and post Hegelian Philosophy, e.g.:

  • in what way are they influenced by Hegel or by criticising/opposing Hegel (or other Hegelians)? In what way do they have Hegelian roots in their biography and/or work?
  • in what way did the grasp Hegel's Philosophy correctly, in case they build on him or criticise him ?
  • what could Hegelians learn form their philosophy? In what way are they relevant to Hegel, Hegel studies and/or Hegelians of today?
  • how would an update of Hegel's "Lectures on the History of Philosophy" handle these new Philosophers and their Philosophy?

Due to the volume of interest, please use the Hegel-Marx list for a discussion of Marx and Marxism. Thank you.

The post-modernist critique would seem to say, 'yes, we have it; the essence has appeared and guess what,? it's just a hypostatization of appearance beneath
