There is a brown birding sign where you turn off Old Hwy 20 onto the dirt road. Old Hwy 20 does continue on towards the ramp (does not connect), in fact you can drive that loop as it connects up with the dirt road.
Not to confuse you but..... On the dirt road there is a 90 degree turn to the left, but if you were to bear right it would take you on the loop back out to Old Hwy 20.
Wish I were paddling with you guys. Great day for it.

Google map to Arrow Head landing. Just head to Mooresville and out old 20. The map shows Old 20 going on down along the interstate all the way to the ramp but I don't think that is right. You turn left before you get to the Interstate, there was a sign last time I was there.
The road is a well maintained dirt road and it is a couple miles down to the ramp. you will think you lost before you get there but just keep going.

Hey Jeff,
Can you post a map to Wheeler and how does 1:00 at Arrowhead sound? (see below)

I went by there yesterday and picked up a Polartec pullover and a ripstop nylon Cabelas jacket. I think the Polartec was originally $72 and it cost $24. The jacket was originally $129 and it cost $39.
In the men's dept they had a decent amount of non-cotton clothing including some Goretex stuff, a few Polartec items, a few rainjackets and
some poly shirts for layering. I saw some thin long sleeve shirts like the UnderArmor stuff for $9. It all looked like it was in good shape other than a little dust and some wrinkles. They close at 7pm.

This afternoon was into Essex Outlet on University and they have lots of Cabela clothing of all types and styles for men women and children, winter and summer, jackets, fleece, shirts, pants, vests, you name it they have it at ridiculously low prices. They also have Woolrich, Columbia, and other brands in smaller numbers as well. For example, I bought a really nice Gore-Tex jacket for 29.95.

i am scheduled to lead a trip down the mulberry this Sat. unfortunatly i sent my drysuit away for repair and it will not be back in time. With the weather looking less than desirable i will not be paddling. If anyone is willing to take over this trip please let me know. i have had one person express interest in the trip so far, so if your planning on paddling the mulberry please contact me. thankyou.
This sounds like something I need to do (I'm getting cabin fever). Let me know
which one you decide to do.

I am going to paddle from Guntersville Dam boat landing
(Highway 431 side) to Madison County Harbor at Hobbs Island this Friday. I am
planning on leaving the boat launch at 1:00pm.
Predictions are for about 40 degrees with a 10mph wind out
of the East.
The trip should be fairly quick with the wind at our backs
and a faster than normal water flow. If water conditions are too bad I am going
to switch to Wheeler Refuge to do some bird watching.

Hey Tracy, did you find any takers?Chris Johnson and me are going tothe BCC take out to park and play tomorrow. We will probably be there around 12:00. I need to get used to a new paddle and may even bringa new (to me at least)boat to tryout. Iwould like to run the Locust Sunday if you are interested in that. Sunday's forcast looks pretty nice last I checked.
I am not sure...like most trips a lot of people will not know until the last
minute...but I REALLY need to paddle a little and start working off a little of
the holiday deserts. I don't know how some of those people keep their youthful
figures...at my age I go downhill really fast (about like a down-hill skier on a
crotch rocket) plus it clears the head a little bit. I expect to have the river
pretty much to myself...maybe a few birds and a barge maybe.
The only bad thing is that I am likely to be watching the game afterward and go
to sleep (and miss Alabama kick some gator butt) :)

Hey everybody,
I am going to put in at Madison County Harbor at 9:00 am and paddle up river

This will give us a chance to paddle for a while and still enjoy the game at

Hi Tom,
That is a beautiful piece of craftsmanship - thanks for pointing it out to us.

I'm leading a HCC class IV trip next Saturday. We are scheduled for Daddy's
Creek but the odds of that running are mixed as it appears now. I am definitely
going to paddle somewhere out of state. Right now the Nanty Cascades are
perfect, the Cheoah is running, Sec IV is ~2', North Fork French Broad has just
dropped out after running for about a week, and the Russell Fork is low but
runnable. We are supposed to get rain next week so hopefully we'll have some
options. I'm planning to paddle Saturday and Sunday (and maybe Friday if
something very cool is running). Let me know if you are interested.

Chris, I have 2 kayaks and 2 yakima racks for sale. I am no longer a member of the club and dont have time to kayak any more. I've attached a pdf with all the information. The prices in the pdf were what we were hoping to get , but any reasonable offer will be considered. They have always been stored inside and have been used minimally. Thanks,
