Yes, but only under a 30x30 tent with the maze free standing. What I looking for
is someone who can draw a blue print of my design for inspection. That's for the
info. any more I would appreciate.

Hi, does anyone know of a company who makes a static prop (body on floor laying
face down), that resembles the bathroom scene in the first Saw movie. In the
movie he had a gun in his hand. It was the Jigsaw character playing dead I
believe. If there is anything close to that out there, I would appreciate a
shout out.
Thanks, Russ

I myself when going to a haunt always try and take my time and take it all in by
looking at everything. Only thing is all those damn people behind me pushing
me.  LOL That's why I try and fall back from the group and let them rush ahead
so I can check out everything. Of course maybe that's because I would like to
some day have my own haunt, so i am very detail oriented and looking for fresh
ideas.

Detail is good. It makes people say things like "this looks... real!"

Well said! the subtle details are picked up and add to the experience even if
they do not mention them.
I do some really hoky things. I have a haunted cemetery yard with some large
ghosts on mobiles that move around randomly. on Trick or Treat night, I also
rig the front door to open by itself, and then a pulley ghost that moves across
the entryway and into the living room. This year, the interior ghost was built
around one of those sound/light activated "KMart Ghosts" (interior is the KMart
spook, modified with a better shroud and and mounted to a moving line).

When kids come to the door, the door opened and after a second, the ghost came
across the entryway, cackling and shaking. We had a lot of great laughs from
kids at the door over this... one set of parents said "oh! this is a REALLY
haunted house!", One group of girls actually started screaming.
It was a lot of fun.

I used to worry about the details not being noticed too but every year, all year
long, I get people who stop me and say "this was the best display yet!".

Good times. Enjoy, and don't sweat the small stuff.

It's not a wasted effort. It's true, most people really don't take the detail
into conscious account, but on sub conscious level it is helping set the mood.
Take away all the detail one year, and see if people don't complain and feel it
was lacking. Also, a well detailed set helps put your actors in the zone. It's
equivalent to a good costume, mask or make-up for them. It helps them get into
character and stay in character.
I know it is hard to watch people go through and miss 90% of the little touches
you labored over, but in the big scheme of haunting it does balance out.

It doesn't matter if it is either professional or a home based haunt no one can
touch you reguardless. A home based haunt can get away with a little more then a
professional one. If you get hurt in a home then it falls under there home
owners insurance. But with a professional haunt they have to get seperate
insurance to cover everything. I might be a little off on my thoughts but that
is the way I understand it. From my past of doing professinal haunts and also
doing home based haunts also. Hope that helps....

I know the feeling all to well.  My yard haunt was rained out this year and
everyone who ventured out in the rain asked "no haunt this year?".

One thing I would like to ask the group is does the actors not touching any
patrons only apply to professional haunts?  Since I was rained out, I went to
another yard haunt and there was an area where the actors stick out there arms
as you walk trough a dark tunnel.  I guess not even the actors could see
because one stuck a finger in my eye and then rubbed my head to apologize.
Don't want to sound like I'm complaining or the proverbial its all fun and games
till someone loses and eye, but I am curious.

Younger people tend to be this way, in general. I decided several years ago to
go after the audience that I wanted to perform for and it was not the short
attention spanners, drunks or young girls jabberwockiing with each other. So, it
takes 90 minutes to go through the house, sometimes more if the group is
positively responding all along the the way.
Of course the place is so full of stuff they still can't see and remember all
of it by any means...maybe this factor inspires a return trip though?
Being the one who designed and built almost everything here also makes them
seeing everything persoanlly more important to me.

We had a pretty ok season here in san antonio had to prune down the show last
year for fears of tough times ahead... anywho, we ended up with extra space and
are looking for stuff to fill it with. not sure if we can (afford/or even if
it's worth it) to go to chicago/vegas/whatever this year. we think next year is
gonna be a good one... all of this streamlining taught us a little about our
priorities. we are looking for animatronics, (new)3d glasses, 3d stuff, cool
oversized costumes, and just the general weird grado we all normally populate
our houses with. please feel free to contact me on my cell 210-421-5790 or at my
personal email ultrafright@... .

the annual transition is always a little tough for me as i lay back into off
season mode. from nascar to golf in literally one day is traumatic for me and i
never seem be able to prepare myself for it. i took my most enthusiastic handful
of helpers and we just dove right in to 2010. we are full steam ahead for now
and we'll slowly ease ourselves down to a more comfortable crawl in a few weeks.

wish you all he best in 2010,

They show up for your hard haunt. They tell you the scares were great. They look
at nothing. They practically run through the place.
I'm a detail junkie and this makes me NUTS...! The place is dripping with detail
and ambiance and they just don't seem to care. 80 to 90% of the people who go
through don't even try to see it. And I'm not even gonna TALK about people going
through on their cell phones.
In spite of weather delays, we did have a fun, successful event. The whole thing
about people not seeing or looking at the details is a pet peeve I had to rant
about.

"Ghost Stories - A Night Opera" was originally performed at St. Luke’s
(bombed-out) Church in July to an audience of around 250 people, who sat
through heavy rain in the open air space to watch the show. The music
surrounded
the audience and a series of specially developed visuals accompanied each
piece. The music and visuals were developed to, throughout the one hour
performance, transport the audience through the course of a night from sunset
to sunrise.

Birkenhead Priory is the oldest standing building on Merseyside and so
will be a wonderfully appropriate setting for the event. . .

Lord Zargon thanks his 2009 Haunted Hosts

November 4, 2009

Lords and Ladies of Deathly Love:

Had you the opportunity to see what I saw on my 2009 haunted journeys then you
would have been delighted, as I was, by the displays of haunted witchery that we
do so well.

There are eight haunted attractions who welcomed me in 2009. They are:

Mr. Dan Hall, producer of "The Boneyard" in Arlington, Texas

Ms. Amy Burge, producer of "Skeleton’s Lair" in Bowling Green, Kentucky

Mr. Ryan Pluta, producer of "Carnival of Horrors" in Akron, Ohio

The brothers Eslich, producers of "Factory of Terror" in Canton, Ohio

The Broadview Heights Lions Club, producer of "Bloodview Haunted House" in
Broadview Heights, Ohio

Mr. Kelly Collins, producer of "The Scare-a-torium" in Columbus, Ohio

Crazy Beth Turner and Crazy Bob Turner, producers of "The Haunted Hydro" in
Fremont, Ohio

Jayme and Bill Criscione, producers of "Ghostly Manor" in Sandusky, Ohio

May you rise from the grave again in October, 2010!

My darkest blessings,

Zargon

Greetings from Hong Kong!

Here's a link that shows that Halloween is gaining a foothold in Asia! And if
you went to HauntCon last spring, the faces/names are familiar. Just saw this
on CCTV tonight, and here's the article itself.

http://english.cctv.com/20091029/103777.shtml

Ocean Park's Halloween Bash wraps up another successful season, its Ninth, with
eight houses, eight shows and 420+ actors. And it has birthed many smaller and
similar attractions throughout the territory.
www.halloweenbash.com.hk

Hong Kong Disneyland's Halloween event featured a slightly revamped Main Street
Hotel, a Demon Jungle that stuck to one theme this year, rather than three, and
Alien Invasion that has a set to die for.

Hope your Halloween weekend turns out to be scarily successful. See you in a
few weeks, as AEOStudios begins its recovery efforts from the fire that
destroyed 15 years worth of Haunted Industry work.

Thanks again for your kindness and support throughout this time.

Regards,
Drew and Alan
AEOStudios, Inc.

Lord Zargon thanks The Scare-a-torium and The Haunted Hydro

Lord Zargon thanks The Scare-a-torium and The Haunted Hydro

Hunters of Humanity:

On Saturday the 24th a first-year haunt in Columbus, Ohio called the
Scare-a-torium was my selected hunting ground. While it was chilly and rainy
outside, the warm insides of the Scare-a-torium were filled with tantalizing
frights. Kelly Collins is the producer and he has my gratitude.

Sunday the 25th marked my 15th annual visit to the Haunted Hydro in Fremont,
Ohio. I showed them all a new look performed inside a new scene as I dared the
brave to step forward and be damned. Crazy Beth and Crazy Bob Turner were my
gracious hostess and host.

May all your nights be black,

Zargon

The LED Bulb pre-order period closes May 15th

If you plan to obtain bulbs for the 2009 season, place your orders now.

If we do not reach minimums, we will cancel production of all new - 12, 50,
72 and 120 LED bulb models - for 2009, and refund the pre-order payments
already made.

Due to the slow economy, we will only bring in minimums if the sales warrant
it.
We will manufacture no more than 10% over pre-orders to minimize inventory
exposure.
If the pre-order minimums are not met, we will manufacture only the new
colors in the existing 18 & 36 LED bulbs, and update our stock amounts to
reflect historical sales demands on those bulbs.

Only Minions Web has create LED lighting to work with holiday lighting
controllers and their many functions. We planned on providing you with the
finest LED Spots manufactured specifically for the Halloween and Holiday
markets in 4 new sizes and 3 additional colors for 2009.

In the past pre-order periods have been robust and we have always sold out.
These pre-orders have been so successful the past 2 years we contracted 2nd
production runs to meet demand.

Halloween (All Hallow's Eve) is the beginning of Hallowtide, has been long
associated with thoughts of the dead, spirits, witches, ghosts & devils. A
popular custom on Hallowe'en is children in costumes visiting neighbor's homes,
calling out "trick or treat" and "begging" for candies or gifts to place in
their beggar's bags.
