Sorry that this is off the topic of Harry Potter, I just want to bounce
some questions off religious friends - you guys!

I'm currently involved in an Alpha Course in my local village and
there's two related questions about the Bible and God that are troubling
me.

1) The bible seems to contain answers to the "what" and the "how"
questions, like what should I do, how did we get here, but not the "why"
questions. How do we get beyond the "what" and the "how" to discover
"why" God wants us to behave in certain ways?

2) A common religious answer to the biggest question, "Why are we here",
seems to be to serve God. But then why is God here?
