Re: [harrypotterforseekers] The Holy Grail (was: Introduction)

That's very exciting, Tom! I have mentioned the Holy Grail several times in posts, but I have never devoted a whole post to it, so perhaps this is the right time to do this.

I'd like to expound my views on the Holy Grail in the hope that you and others will give us your views.

I believe that the human body is a temple in which the Divine Spirit wants to dwell. However the earthly body we have today is a ruin, a hovel like the one the Gaunts lived in. It needs to be totally purified and cleansed before the sublime and ineffable Original Spirit, Tao, can enter it.

The temple has three sanctuaries: the pelvic, or biological sanctuary, personified by Ron, the heart sanctuary, personified by Harry, and the head sanctuary, personified by Hermione.

The purification of the temple has to begin by the purification and cleansing of the heart sanctuary. This process is known as the making of the Holy Grail. We know from the legends that the Grail is the cup that was used to catch the blood of the crucified Christ. I understand Christ to be a divine Logos who has descended into our fallen universe to facilitate the liberation of people who want to return to the divine universe, like prodigal sons. He sends to us His very essence, His "blood", i.e. His astral blood, to lift us out of our fallen state. This astral blood of Christ is extremely pure, fiery and divine. It is possible for every human being to drink this blood, i.e. absorb it into his heart sanctuary by longing for it. This longing is symbolised by Harry's father, the stag animagus. However before the heart sanctuary can retain this pure and Holy astral blood, the knight of the Holy Grail has to purify his heart so that it can be tolerate the high vibrations of Christ's blood.

And so you can see that I see the drinking of the Blood of Christ quite literally, yet differently to most people. This is what alchemy is really about. Divested of mysticism, it means we alchemically transmute our whole biological system into a divine one. The Blood of Christ is the absolutely essential substance that enters us quite bodily and lifts us up into Nirvana. But that also entails a sacrifice: we have to surrender to this fiery substance and let it burn out all earthly desires and emotions.

The grail is actually present in the physical sense too. The plexuses in the throat, the heart and the lungs actually form a kind of vessel. The plexuses, as we all know, are connected to the spinal cord. Emanating from the spinal cord are the chakras, whirlpools of astral and etheric substances that supply our needs.

The process of purification, and hence the making of the Holy Grail, begins in the plexuses of the throat. It moves from there into the heart and lung plexuses. The chakra situated there is also very much involved in this process. As I have pointed out in my explanation of the Weasleys on the website, Percy symbolises the heart chakra. I believe he will play the role of Sir Percival or Parsifal. There is a legend that during his quest to find the Holy Grail Parsifal sees a golden city in the distance. He hastens towards it, only to find that the golden city disappears and that there is nothing there. I believe Percy's golden city is the Ministry of Magic, and our Percy will also find his ambitions going up in smoke. And he will find the Holy Grail. The heart chakra is a golden circle and because of its position in front of the heart it is described as a shield, hence as the shield of the Knight of the Holy Grail. I wonder with mounting excitement how Jo will show Percy being disillusioned by the Ministry and coming to Harry's aid. We know that one of the Horcruxes is a golden cup once belonging to Hufflepuff, symbol of the earth element. It seems very likely therefore that Percy will help Harry find this Horcrux. We have in the past also speculated that Percy will help Harry get into the Room of Love, because (1) Percy works in the Ministry and (2) he symbolises the heart chakra, while the Room of Love is also situated in the heart sanctuary. We'll have to wait and see though.

I've actually written all this before, but never in a single post. Even so I can be only very cursory.

The amazing thing is that all these liberating teachings were once exclusively taught in Mystery Schools, while now they are public and readable on Internet, and what gives me such great joy, symbolically illustrated in the most popular book ever.

I know there are people who see the Holy Grail as a physical  2000 years old goblet, hidden away in a secret place. However I see the Holy Grail as something that I can make in my own breast by a life of self-surrender, intense purification, and service to humanity. Then I will become a worthy vessel for the astral blood of Christ. Drinking the astral substance of the Logos means filling your heart with a fire of utter purity, unselfish rapture and Holy ecstasy. That's what Harry Potter is really about!

Tom:
I must admit that I am probably way, way behind most members on this board in reading Harry Potter. I have finished Book I and part of Book II. I like the books very much; but have trouble finding time to keep up with everything else I need to read.

Hans:
Tom may I suggest you read chapter 11 of The Half Blood Prince? This will help you follow the discussion. Although many things won't make sense, if you read the posts this will explain everything. The first post on chapter 11 is No. 1864.
