Hello Everybody! from Donna C. in OKC
I just got off the phone with my cousin, David Thomas James Jr. who lives in
Santa Fe, New Mexico. He is the son of Mary A. James, youngest daughter of
Walter Winford Harbour.
David Thomas, artist, has a gallery in Santa Fe, 1212 1/2 Canyon Road. He
has sent me pictures of some of his work which I plan to scan and when I can
figure out how to, I may post some pics here. In the mean time, you can view
his work online. Go to www.collectorsguide.com. He can be reached toll free
888-826-8904.
He says he doesn't know #$%#$ about computers and does not have his own site.
I have told him about the egroup and all my found relatives. He shares our
joy.
As you can tell, I am very proud of him. He is a very talented artist. He
has recently had works shown at the Loretto Chapel, the home of the "Miraculous
Staircase". No other artist has every shown at the Chapel since it's beginning
around 1850. At the Loretto Chapel he has installed a twenty foot tall "CROSS",
11 feet across, made of steel. I hope there is something on the web site about
it. It is very impressive.
Keeps those emails coming!! Your Cuz, Donna C.

When I get a suitable GEDCOM file I'll put it on my AOL space for you all to download.  I've also got some software that will turn GEDCOM files into HTML so they're viewable from the web.  I'll start simple like that and shoot for eventually providing an interface where bonefid family members can make changes directly on the web site.

Yea I have a 4600 person GEDCOM file. You want it? I succeeded in finding a
whole new leg to the Harbour line off of the Family Tree Maker CD's and
added quite a few people to the mess. If anyone wants a 'Start', this could
generate discussions from now until someone decides to change the spelling
again. :)

Hi Donna and all,

Interesting that you should mention diabetes as a family infliction, not that
this infliction happens to be one that has visited my Harbours, but,
interestingly, every male Harbour in our family has had kidney stones. I hadn't
really thought of this until
now but Kidney stones might just be a litmus test to separate those of my
lineage from wannabe's (kidding)!

Comments anyone?

Hello All,
I have not had any trouble accessing the egroup or the Web Page.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Bill for his time and effort
in bringing us all together. You know, all and all the most important thing in
life is family. And Boy, do we have a big one. It is wonderful. I am so happy
to hear from so many of you. Keep up the good work.
Bill, I have GEDCOM files. I may have to wait until my husband gets home from
work to have him send you mine. I am not a computer nerd. Only know enough to
get into trouble.
Do any of you live near Bettye Cartwright or have contact with her or her
immediate kin? I have tried to call her but cant reach her. I want to order my
own copy of "Harbours in America", as well as some of the newsletters. I have a
cousin who lives in Lubbock and I ask her to try to contact Bettye, but I
haven't heard from her either.
Has anyone out there been able to firmly track down any other solid
information re Thomas Harbour? Has anyone accessed ships records that so many
gene pages refer to?

Hi everyone:

Please check out http://members.aol.com/56588247/HarboursUSA/index.htm ...this is an update.  Primarily look at the introduction on the Welcome page in the right frame (there are two new links also).  I tried to give some to-the-point family history.  Please make sure that:
1) It's correct;
2) I didn't leave anything out;
3) It says what it should; and
4) It looks OK.

If you want to make changes directly please download the page http://members.aol.com/56588247/HarboursUSA/welcome.htm and have a go at it then email back to me.  I'll post it and let everyone take a look at it.  I'm not going to be a dictator about this.  If you want to email suggested changes to me that'll be OK too.  Cousin Bob Adair is also helping out too.  Between all of us we ought to be able to start something we'll be proud of.  I'd like to shoot for the end of January putting the page on the net.

I'll also check out the site at fortunecity that a few of you have recommended.  I'm going to try and have some sort of shareware database in place by this weekend...you all know how that goes.  If Alabama looses to Auburn I just might be too depressed to do anything.

Thanks!

Hi Donna and kinfolks! I do not have FTM but know several who use it and they
are very happy with it. I use PAF and Ultimate Family Tree which I understand is
very similar to FTM. I do belong to Ancestry.com and think it is great. I signed
up for a years membership and plan to resign when my year is up.
Bill, you might want to check out Fortunecity.com . Think they offer 20 Megs of
free webspace. Looking forward to the Harbour webpage.

Hi Donna!
I've joined the site as you suggested. This feels like the right place to be.
Thanks.

I joined 'Ancestry' some time ago and have yet to find anything useful. There
are a lot of references to Harbours in many different contexts but, in many
cases, you have to purchase a CD to find out the details. You may think that's
okay. For me,with the Canadian exchange rate and all, this could get quite
expensive for small return.

Hey folks.  This is in reply to Donna's inquiry to FTM.  I haven't had any experience with FTM but seem as if I remember another cousin reporting that there were holes in the Harbour information.  Bob Adair and I are looking into a geneology database program to add to a Harbour web site.  The database will import a GEDCOM file and we'll likely have a lot of updating to do to get it more or less correct.  Please remember that we'll be posting the most current information we have.  I do remember, from reading old Harbour Association Newsletters, that some of the birthorders and names have been questioned by other family members.

I'm unsure at to when the Harbour web site will be up....more than likely in early January.  I'm looking at putting it up on AOL right now but I only have 2MB personal webspace.  I can use the personal webspace of my children which will give me 10MB but I'll have to bust up the files into their directories.  No matter where the site resides several of us must have current backup copies for safety's sake.

I've done some programming on the HTML but there's still more to go before it's put into cyberspace.  As soon as I can figure out AOL's FTP scenario I'll open the pages up for everyone to download and look at.

I'll keep everyone posted.

Have a good one y'all.

Bill

Hello Out there Cousins in Cyberspace!
I have only recently become addicted to our geneology.  I have purchased "Family Tree Maker" program for my computer.  I have scanned the CD's included with the program for information about our descendants.  There is some, but for me the line breaks down with my gGrandFather.
I would really like for our family to be represented in their information.  I am planning to submit information to their online service one of these days.  OR, has anyone already done that?  We would need lots of information to fill in the blanks.  WHAT DO YOU ALL THINK?

His father was Rev.Thomas Harbour, who I believe was also a mail carrier. His

Hi everyone!
My name is Tammy Kane and I descend from John R. Harbour. I am
wondering if any one of you know of Amanda Harbour Mosley?
This is going to be a bit confusing. John R. Harbour and Margaret
Elizabeth Fuller had a son Homer Richard Harbour ( my GGgrandfather )
Homer married Dora Mosley who was born 1885 in Alabama. Doras mother was
Amanda Mosley born March 1866 in Alabama. I now have the information on
Amandas death certificate. It states she was married to Henry Moseley
and that her parents were John Harbour and Caroline--- no maiden name
given for Caroline and that they were both born in Alabama. The info on
the certificate was given by Dora. If this is correct, it seems I have
two Harbour lines. Amanda was living in Milam Co Texas in 1900 with
Homer and Dora.
Do any of you know of a John Harbour with wife Caroline? Thanks Bill
for starting this mailing list! It is a great idea!

Hi everyone:

I got the following from Bob Van Devender inquiring about another Bill Harbour.  This fellow is quite a bit older than me but has to be a not too distant cousin.  Louise Wing is also asking about too.
Thanks!

Bill Harbour

Bill: Wonder if you are the Bill Harbour as in Bill and Burt Harbour
that we threw dirt
clods at each other from your yard across from Poplar Springs School in
the 1940's?

One time we got activated into the Berlin Crisis in 1962. I was shop
chief of the instrument/autopilot shop in the 186 CamRon Sqdn,
Mississippi Air National Guard.

The unforgettable Tal Harbour, who had been a shop chief himself in the
second world war, for some reason wanted to go another hitch as a senior
airman (very senior.)

He was 100 percent solid GI. Never another one like him. My favorite Tal
Harbour
story was, that they were in England, off on a weekend riding to the
hounds with some British noblemen. They said Tal was pretty happy, and
the fox jumpd up and he yelled:
"There goes the S.O.B.!" The British lord said: "I say, Yank, it's not
there goes the S.O.B., its TALLY HO the FOX!"

He was known as Tally Ho, for the rest of his life.

Wonder if that is the Tal you are looking for, or if it has been handed
down through several generations of them, like most of us.

See you. I prefer e-mail answers at bobvandev@...

This internet costs me by the minute. I came here looking for some
Kemper County census tables, from 1840 to 1900, specificly trying to
look for Houston and Gully
households (pronounced HOUSE-ton). Were you on the wrong side of the
massacre from these people (if so forget I asked.) Was just taking pix
in the old New Hope cemetery, Friday. Bunch of Harbours in there, the
best I remember.

See you

Bob Van Devender
(former pupil of Miss Annie Bourdeaux)

15 July 1866 in Perry Co.,Al. John R. was the son of William Harbour b:abt 1810
Franklin Co,Ga and his second wife,Lucretia Nally/Nalley b:abt 1820 GA.
Thanks to Tammy Kane (a cousin who also is related to John R.) and a lot of
other nice folks on the internet,we are making wonderful progress with the
Fuller line. Now if someone out there just had info on Lucretia Nally/Nalley
that they would be willing to share with me,it would be wonderful.
I do have the line back to Thomas Harbour and Sarah Witt but have a lot of
blank spaces of info to obtain as yet.
Looking forward to sharing info with the Harbour lines.
Kathy

I've started a mailing list for all of us to use.  You don't have to join if you don't want to.  This way folks will get information and inquiries as they happen without going through me.  I can also later compile all the post into a digest.

Hope everyone is well!
