Tara Benson was on NPR this afternoon. She says what ever country she goes to that someone walks up and says, "Aren't you Tara from BTVS?" She said Joss was unprepared for the reaction from fans when he killed off Tara. She says she wants to act, write and direct. She says her new bok is in the BTVS tradition of a strong female character as lead.
They interviewed people in line at her Boston book signing. One person said she was a lesbian and that Willow and Tara were her role models. She also said, "Buffy was on when I was growing up." As if BTVS is ancient history! Star Trek TOS was on when I was growing up. I'm glad they waited forty years to remake it with the same characters.
Also, did Amber and Adam Busch start dating before, during or after BTVS?
No. He doesn't. He sold the rights when the first movie was released.

What is this I hear about a Buffy remake with Megan Fox as Buffy and Shia LeBeouf as Angel? I know that a Buffy remake is inevitable, but it is way too soon. Megan Fox is a beautiful woman, but there is no sign she is as good an actress as SMG. Who would play Willow?

I was listening to NPR fixture Sarah Vowell's Partly Cloudy Patriot audio book. To my surprise Seth Green was one of the celebrity guest readers. He plays Vowell's former congressman from Oklahoma. If that sounds like creative casting, Conan O'Brien plays Abe Lincoln! More importantly, Vowell says BTVS is her favorite TV show. She talks about how great it is. She compares Rupert Giles, traditional book loving geek, to Willow, "post-modern," technogeek. She says the traditional geek doesn't realize he is a geek. Willow on the other hand knows she is a geek and can make self-deprecating jokes about it.
Interestingly, she compares the Whedonverse to the 2000 presidential election. She says that if the geeky Al Gore had embraced his inner geekiness like Willow, he would not have lost to the dumb jock, George W. Bush. (Actually W. was a cheerleader at Yale.) She says that if Gore had had Joss Whedon as his image consultant, he would have won the electoral vote as well as the popular vote. Talk about your alternate universe possibilities.

"Bored Now!" is Vampire Willow's line. There are differences between Willow and Vampire Willow. Vamp Willow is evil, skanky, and.....well, OK, they both are kind of gay. Willow wore floods and packed her own lunch. Vampire Willow killed people and sucked their blood, as those vampires do.
On Facebook I took the "What Joss Whedon character are you?" quiz. I was Willow. I was wondering what would be an appropriate Willow quote to post with it. Any suggestions?

The word is that Willow Rosenberg will be getting naked in Buffy s8. It is nice
to know someone other than Spike actually gets naked in the Buffyverse.
I was looking at one of my favorite political blogs, openleft.com, this morning
when I found this:
Scared Of Liberals? The Many Layers of Brain-Dead Conservatives' Hell-Layer 2

"What? I can't have layers?"
--Cordellia Chase, "Band Candy," Buffy, The Vampire Slayer Season 3, Episode 6.
Apparently one of Willow's relatives has found a place in the blogosphere. It
was considered a historic moment when Jimmy Carter quoted Bob Dylan. I wonder
who will be the first president to quote BTVS. When that does happen it will be
another historic moment. Pundits always talk about the senior's vote, the
women's vote, the southern vote etc. How come they don't talk about the Scooby
vote?

Hi Everyone!,
some of you may already know about where to send an email to request a
Photo Autographed of some of the BtVS cast...But for those of you
who don't here is the info:
Fist of all when you send the email:
1. On the Subject put "Picture Request"
2. On the body of the email you just have to put your mailing address of
where you would like the picture to be sent to. That is All!
here are the ones that I know are available:
Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy):
sarahmichellegellar@...
David Boreanaz (Angel):
davidboreanaz@...
Charisma Carpenter (Cordelia):
charismacarpenter@...
Alyson Hannigan (Willow):
alysonhannigan@...
Seth Green (Oz):
sethgreen@...
Marc Blucas (Riley):
marcblucas@...
*Note*: this email is for Photo Requests only. if you send a letter via
this email it does not get to them anyway, it is just the photo company
that sends these pictures when they receive letters from fans through
regular mail.
You may have already received one of these pictures if in the past you
have written to one of these actors.
I have seen some of these pictures on EBAY so don't bid on them you can
just get one for free with the email addresses mentioned above :).
These pictures are cool to be able to put up on the wall or in your
scrapbook :)
Please let all other BTVS/Angel Fans out there know, this is Free so
anyone can send a request to get a picture! :)
Aly looked great on Craig Ferguson. I still can't
stand her brunette hair. She and SMG are in their
thirties, but they still could pass for college
students. Viva the women of BTVS!

What? In the BTVS season 8 comic Buffy has sex with
another slayer! Then Xander walks in and discovers
them! I have very mixed emotions about this. We
already have plenty of lesbian characters in the
Buffyverse. I am happy that Buffy dated a human
instead of an undead for a change, but can't Buffy
ever date someone who is just an ordinary person?
Needless to say both Xander and Willow have to have
plenty of jealousy issues. Poor Xander usually has to
see the unrequited love of his life dating vampires,
but now he literally sees her, even if he only has one
eye, switch teams!

ASH has a bit part in Sweeney Todd. If you blink
you'll miss him. Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter,
Alan Rickman and Sasha Baron Cohen also star. It's
Rupert Giles meets Capt. Jack Sparrow meets Lucy
Honeychurch meets Snape meets Borat. The movie is
intensely violent and sadistic even by Tim Burton
standards. No, Tony Head does not sing in this
film. I prefer Once More With Feeling.

The bangs eats the face look is the style this year. It may look
good on some people, but on Aly it is awful. One of the things that
made Aly such a breath of fresh air as Willow Rosenberg was that she
didn't look like every other actress in Hollywood. Now she does, and
it is painful to look at. I hate to say it, but when Aly turned in
to a sex symbol it may have put her on the wrong track. The people
around her may have forgotten that it was her quirky charm that made
her a star in the first place.

Aly's hair has hit a crisis stage. The shiny, dark,
brunette, helmet head haircut is hideous. With the
eye makeup she wears with it, it is even worse. The
flashback scenes where she was a redhead made it even
more apparent. She looked adorable as the old Aly.
This is the worst hair decision since Felicity. Now I

What a bummer! Leave it to zillionaire Rupert
Murdoch's company to kill off Buffy fans fun. (see
below) As if he doesn't have enough money already.
He is the Mr. Potter or Mr. Burns of Sunnydale. It
should be noted that this is from the same guy who
gave us Fox "News."

Fox lawyers slay Buffy singalong
Buffy
Fox Television has driven a stake into the Buffy the
Vampire Slayer singalong.
Lawyers for the network behind the TV show have told a
group of volunteers, led by Boston’s Clinton McClung,
to stop all future performances of a singalong version
of "Once More With Feeling," a musical episode of the
cult show.
Fans dressed as their favourite character and sang
from the audience as a group of aficionados took to
the stage to play the principal roles and lead the
singing.
The single musical episode, written and directed by
show creator Joss Whedon, was nominated for an Emmy
Award.
Although Criterion Pictures had granted a licence for
the singalong events, Fox, a division of Rupert
Murdoch’s News Corp., has stepped in to demand
"significant payments" for showing the episode in
movie theatres.
McClung started the midnight screenings at a theatre
in Boston more than a year ago. He drew so many of the
show’s loyal fans, he moved the event to an art-house
cinema in New York’s Greenwich Village. It has since
played in about 15 other cities.
He has had to cancel a costume party later this month
as well as 10 shows in theatres around the country as
a result of the cease-and-desist order.

Joss Whedon as quoted in the National Catholic Reporter magazine. (He was referring to the death by stoning of a 17 year old Afghan girl caught on a cell phone camera.)
Joss is the man. This pertains to a philosophical argument that I have with certain friends. Some of them believe that getting involved in a cause will only contaminate them. Instead they believe being nice is the only thing one can do to make the world a better place. I disagree. Like Joss and the Scoobies, one needs to get one's hands dirty, or, should I say, one's stake dusty if one is going to combat real evil in the world.

TV Guide is out with its new list. It's not a bad
list, but some of the choices are just way out of
line. How does Freaks and Geeks, a show that lasted
half a season, beat out Dr. Who, a show that is still
on forty-four years after it started? As I said last
time, X-Files ahead of BTVS is a joke. Also, Veronica
Mars is a good show, but putting it ahead of The
Avengers is an outrage. Veronica couldn't lift Emma
Peel's mod catsuit. Also, Jericho at #11! It has
only been around for a year and they are already
putting it in the pantheon. A cult has to stand the
test of time. The same goes for Lost.
Steve
TV Guide Names the Top Cult Shows Ever
Spurred on by the successful campaign to get Jericho
plucked from the postapocalyptic ashes and returned to
CBS’ 2007-08 slate, TV Guide revisited that years-old
countdown, asking ourselves such tough questions as:
Is Lost too "big" to be considered cult? Did the
big-screen Serenity help or hinder Firefly’s
under-the-radar cachet? And, of course, just how high
does one Miss Veronica Mars get placed on the list at
this nascent stage in her candidacy?
In pondering this list anew, we also shuffled around
(and even excised) some previous favorites. Shows such
as Forever Knight and My So-Called Life, though
previously ranked among the top 25, we decided simply
have not withstood the test of time, while Freaks and
Geeks’ legacy has only been confirmed by the success
of Judd Apatow and Seth Rogen and most everyone who
brushed up against that too-short-lived comedy.
Without further adieu (and reluctant to drop too many
deserving names from the list), TV Guide presents the
Top 30 Cult Shows Ever, a "best of" that is sure to
ignite conversation and debate — both of which we
encourage at this Top Cult Shows blog set up just for
the occasion.
