This Group is for all artists interested in the creation of original, handmade books. What is a handmade book? Loosely, a collection of related parts or pages, bound together in some fashion so as to be experienced as a whole, or in some specific sequence. Huh? This can include books you have written and illustrated, visual and art journals, books-as-sculpture (usually entailing some unusual shape or binding), altered books (books that already existed, but you have turned them into something uniquely your own), books-as-art (the kind of handmade books shown in gallery book-art shows), or art that incorporates books or pages.

What "kind" of Group will this be? We will be a learning and sharing community without harshness, elitism, attitude, or scolding. At the same time, we will not wander too far from the "book" topic. This list will be run in a similar fashion to the New Idea Exchange - a five year old Multi-Media Artist's Group on Yahoo.

Brand names and procedures can be freely discussed without having to disassociate from "affiliation". Sources for obtaining mentioned materials can be freely shared. Vendors may post about their products and how to use them, but no "Sale" announcements or lists of products and prices, please.
