I dont know if the information I have is of any use, but my grandmother's
father was named Gaskin,(I dont have a first name) and he was from Barbados, and
married Lydia Wright also from Barbados. They moved to Demerara via Trinidad.
The children of the couple were Eloise,(my grandmother) Maud, Elgretta, maybe
misspelled from Elfreda???, Mabel/Maybel, and Caroline.
It is said that Mr.Gaskin left the family as he was disappointed at not
having a son. Does this ring any bells?? The birth date of your great-grand
mother would fall into the correct time frame for the family.Do you have any
other relatives of the Gaskin name? Best wishes, Joan
