I recently was able to visit Damdama Sahib, at Talwandi Sabo. This was my 2nd
visit to the gurdwara, the first being about a decade back. The Gurdwara complex
includes a Bhora(undergorund chamber) where Baba Deep Singh ji stayed and
meditated. It is also the same place where Babaji must have handwritten the
various manuscripts of Sri Guru Granth Sahib.

The Bhora was a very beautiful building made out of Nanakshahi Bricks. The
ceiling too was Nanakshahi bricks arranged and interlocked  in a circular
pattern, a lost skill. There were air inclet ducts and also 2 large pitchers
encrusted within the walls which perhaps were used to store grains & coins. The
entire chamber was 2 rooms, the larger one to address any audience and the inner
one served as the resting quarters of Babaji.

A recent 'Kar Sewa' has destroyed all that. The entire place seems to have been
remade, cemented and marbled. The ceiling, staircase etc are all gone. Airducts
have been plastered, and sealed with glass. It has killed the spirit & antiquity
of the place.

Is there any media to reach out & protest against the authorities who award such
Sewa's to unskilled people? The damage caused to the historic monument is
irreparable, and has been lost to the future generations.

I sincerely appreciate your effort in compiling the list of gurudwaras in
Mumbai.However I was surprised to find that you have missed the main gurudwara
at Dadar which is the central body of gurudwaras and controls most of the Mumbai
gurudwaras.Also you missed the gurudwara near VT station .
I have a suggestion it would have still been better if you would have given the
information about sarai availability at some of the gurudwaras.For e.g sarai is
available in Dadar gurudwara where Sikhs from outside Mumbai can come and reside
.
If it is possible to provide this information too along with the addresses it
would benefit many Sikhs across the country.
